Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Hydrating Serum : Moisturizer after

I received a free, large sample of Olay Hyaluronic Peptide 24 Serum, Fragrance-Free, 1.3oz from PINCHme. I was excited because I love serums and have read positive things in recent years about the moisturizing properties of hyaluronic acid. I'm 44 with the beginnings of fine lines, so I appreciate the idea of a product which delivers long-lasting moisture. I was therefore puzzled by the instructions on the package which say I should apply this product before my moisturizer. I'm sure they have a rationale for it but it wasn't clear to my why I would use this when my own moisturizer already has hyaluronic acid. Like most moms, I'm also on the run a lot and am finding I need a quicker, easier routine with less products I'm spending money on overall. I didn't have any negative skin reactions to the product and liked the consistency, just don't see myself adding it to my routine.
