bareMinerals Tinted Mineral Veil Setting Powder Reviews
Do not use this to set concealer under eyes!
I've been using the Original Mineral Veil for over a decade now, to set the concealer I use to cover my dark under eye circles. It worked beautifully, so imagine my shock when I opened my latest purchase and discovered what looked like glitter in the powder, and when I used it as usual, the glittery effect actually HIGHLIGHTED the dark circles. It's completely useless to me. You can see the shimmer in the photo I attached but it's even more shimmery in real life.
I was irritated because I thought they had changed the product, but now I realize they created a new product, the Illuminating Mineral Veil, and they didn't bother to alter the top of the container so that it says "Illuminating". I grabbed this product accidentally because the lid says "Original Mineral Veil". The company should have created different lids for the different products to avoid confusion. So if you're looking for something with shimmer, this is probably great, but for the love of god don't use it under your eyes.
okay
I have this and a few other banana powders. This is my favourite for texture, along with Dermablend. It doesn't cake under eyes the way others can do. This is a beautiful, very finely milled powder. There is no powdery mask effect, it blends seamlessly with the skin or makeup, blurs and smoothes skin nicely. I don't have any real complaints, except that I bought Buttercup Light and it's still a tad dark. I'm considering getting the No Colour and mixing the two, or adding Dermablend Cool Beige. Under my eyes it's too yellow and darkening on its own.
Yes, it's pricier than some other brands, but you do receive substantial product and it's mattifying without being drying, allows for a natural finish over one resembling an exploded fire hydrant. I may also mix the Sasha Light and No Colour or fair powder with some Light Pink Elf Halo Powder make it more effective under the eyes. On its own it's fine on the rest of my (pale olive peach toned) skin. But hear this, if you haven't tried banana powder, you should. It takes skin set with powder from pasty to healthy, dull to fresh, blotchy to even.
Better for Neutral-warm toned & olive-skinned tone folks
I absolutely love this setting powder. From my own experience,
this is better for people who have warm, neutral-warm, & olive toned people. It doesn't make me look like a ghost or change the color of my make up like the original did. The original powder made me look ashy & pasty. So I'd say, as someone who has neutral-warm undertones with light olive skin this works well & it enhanced my make up rather than change the color drastically. So anyone who has cooler undertones, might wanna avoid this one and opt for the Illuminating or original powder. This one might make you look too ashy if you have cooler undertones. There are also setting powders with skin tones in mind as well.
Quite magical!
I'm a longtime user of the Matte Loose Powder Foundation, but have been experimenting with a few other of bareminerals' products. I had a sample of translucent mineral veil that I didn't really know how to use (I don't layer on multiple products, and tend to be a minimal makeup person) so it sat in my makeup bag for a few months. Then I decided to try out the new stick foundation, and I was a bit concerned by how it felt sticky on my skin, like it was sitting on top but not really set. Hmm... An idea! I pulled out the Mineral veil and lightly brushed it in all over... Aha! Perfect! It "set" the makeup, no more sticky or wet feeling, and it made my face suddenly look soft focus. Amazing! As long as my go-to is the matte powder, I'm not sure I'll have much use for this but for special occasions where heavier coverage is called for, this makes the absolute perfect finishing touch.

Beautiful
I don't like wearing a lot of makeup on my skin. I am an esthetician so I have pretty flawless skin. I hate the feeling of foundation. I used this last night on just my bare skin so eliminate the shiny effect from my moisturizer. It made my skin glow. I only did my eyebrows, mascara, blush and a bit of highlighter. It looked like I had perfect foundation on. My skin looked amazing. As others have said it's not translucent. I have light colored skin. Not fair but it's light. I think if my skin was any lighter it would be too dark. It would be nice to have a translucent version of this. I dust a little on my neck to make sure my face doesn't look too dark. But I'm extremely pleased with the results of only using this with no foundation or skin tint. Just took 15 min off my makeup routine.
Not anymore
I have been using the Original Mineral Veil powder for a few years now. I loved it and it was my HG powder for awhile. I have very fair and oily skin. I have tried so many different brands over the years looking for a powder that could set my makeup and combat my oily skin. I was so happy when I tried this powder because I thought that I had finally found a powder that took away the oiliness but was not heavy or cakey. The best part was I didn't even have to reapply the powder as it really kept the oiliness at bay for many hours throughout the day. But alas, all good things come to an end. I have noticed that in my last couple of repurchases, the quality was just not the same anymore. Not only was it no longer keeping my skin matte, I would have to reapply only after a couple hours or I would end up a greasy mess. Also, it leaves behind a strange orange tint to my skin. It used to have no color at all but now it makes my skin look unnaturally orange. I am so disappointed in whatever change in formulation they decided to use for this product. It was great before but not anymore. I hope they go back to their original formula. Now I have to try out other brands again to search for a better and hopefully HG powder to replace this one.
Exactly what I wanted
I first tried a different illuminating finishing powder and it separated my skin tint and made my face look patchy. Also wasn't illuminating. This product is everything that one wasn't. I use it on top of Morphe Skin Tint and my skin glows. It's not glittery or shimmery. It didn't cause any patchiness and looked perfect. I'm going to experiment with using IT bye bye pores setting powder then using this on top. Also it didn't accentuate my pores like some illuminating powder products do. It's perfect.
BareMinerals will always be
BareMinerals will always be a brand that I love for face powders and bronzers! I have been using the matte loose powder foundation in medium beige since I was 15 years old, I did all-star cheerleading and wore a full face of makeup from a young age when going to competitions but I had sensitive skin and most liquid foundation broke my skin out so BareMinerals became my best friend even going through my early to mid 20s I still used it, I just could have an even all over coverage that stayed on even in the summer months but my love for the mineral veil started in my late 20s because as I got older I started having dry skin and had to switch to liquid foundations and bb creams but I still like to set my face and alot of powders instantly suck the hydration out and I'll look like I've been in a sand storm in the sahara(Soo dry!!) But the mineral veil is so fine and it literally feels like you put nothing on your face but it sets everything perfectly! And it doesn't set in my fine lines like so many other finishing powders! You need to try the mineral veil if you have dry skin but are needing a good powder! I always keep it in my collection and in rotation!
I used to use
I used to use this powder years ago and recently got one in boxycharm. Its ok. Nothing revolutionary. Its a loose setting powder. It does feel very light weight. I can barely feel it's even on my face but it makes my skin oily faster then other powders. I like the way it looks when first applied. It helps smooth out texture and set foundation/concealer but an hour later and I have to apply more because my t zone will get more oily then usual. It also has a very slight shimmer/sparkle to it and I prefer my powder to be matte. I have texture and pores so anything glowy or dewy accentuates that which I don't want.
I know a lot of ppl love this powder and it's been a cult fave for a long time but it just doesn't work well with my skin type.
I love the finishing
I love the finishing veil. I was using all of bare mineral for the longest time but I did switch foundations for a better one but I still continue to use the mineral veil for my finish setting powder cause it really does gone on really good. I think it makes my pores less noticeable and it just makes my all finish look perfect. So even if you don't like the foundation in this you must try the mineral veil a least to try for yourself. And you can get different sizes so if price is an issues you can get the smaller on trust me a little goes along way
No thank you! I
No thank you! I don't get the love for this powder guys! I really hated it! It made my makeup a different color, umm setting powder is supposed to be translucent, or at least brightening! This just made me look chalky and beigey ( if that was a word lol). You could see lines and creases that I literally do not even have lol! I had to wash my face and start all over! I was so mad too bc I had a great makeup day going ( you know what I'm talking about!) but dusted this stuff on and I just looked gross haha! I don't know, maybe it's just me but I DO NOT recommend this powder at all! The $1 wet&wild powder I've tried before was 100 times better than this!!
I did not have
I did not have any luck at all with this product. My jar was defective and the plastic distributed cap kept popping off wasting product *cue titanic theme song*. However, what I was able to use, I wasn't a huge fan. I felt that the product gave my skin an orange tint (and I have PORCELAIN skin so it was very noticeable). It creased and my mascara still ended up smearing under my eyes (it's like it stuck to the concealer on my under eye and then fell off). I love loose powder setters so that was what made me try it but I'm sad to say it wasn't for me because I love the bareminerals bare pro.
The packaging is excellent
The packaging is excellent – small, handy, lightweight. The jar has two compartments. Lower compartment contains the powder, which can be sifted to the upper compartment by shaking the jar. A plastic plug is provided to prevent any extra spillage. So, when you need more powder, simply remove the plug and shake the jar. This little feature makes the usage much less messy even while travelling. You can simply toss the jar into your handbag, without any worries.
The powder itself is very finely milled, lightweight and soft. It disappears on the skin and reduces the visibility of pores and fine lines. Very little product is required for the whole face and even if you end up being a little heavy handed, it doesn't look cakey. It has no shimmer, and therefore, ideal for daily use. It prolongs the staying power of the makeup underneath and also controls shine. Since my skin is extremely oily, it get's shiny within 3 hours of powdering during summers. In winters, however, it keeps the oil in check for around 5 hours easily. I also use it during my evenings out where it does an excellent job of holding my makeup in place and photographs turn out beautifully. sometimes just dust the mineral veil all over my face without applying any makeup underneath, if I am in a hurry. It keeps my face looking fresh. The product has no fragrance and the company claims it to be free of: –Parabens.
– Sulfates.
– Synthetic Fragrances.
– Synthetic Dyes.
– Petrochemicals.
– Phthalates.
This is a huge plus point for me. It has never broken me out although I have an acne-prone skin.
Summing up the pros and the cons: Pros of Bare Minerals Mineral Veil:
Simple yet extremely convenient packaging, which makes it comparatively less messy than the other loose powders.
Free of a whole load of chemical junk and preservatives usually found in most of our cosmetic products.
No fragrance.
Reduces the appearance of fine lines and large pores.
Controls shine and keeps the makeup fresh for a longer period of time.
Doesn't look cakey.
Reasonable price.
Has not caused any breakouts.
I love Bare Minerals
I love Bare Minerals products, their quality and how easy it's apply and blend on the face bareMinerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder SPF 25 ! They should bring back on their website some of their good quality products : like bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick and also make their lipsticks more stable in tube (in Mineralist line it's unstable at all even you're not press on it!) and more long lasting color on lips – Bareminerals Mineralist Hydra-Smoothing Lipstick - Creativity and other from this line.
MI really like this
MI really like this mineral veil to set my makeup for the day. It adds a very very slight sheen and is great when you need to freshen up your makeup after going from day to night. Would definitely recommend as part of your makeup routine! I apply very sparingly with a large round powder brush here and there, as needed. I absolutely love that it's Noncomedogenic, I seem to need this as an adult, AGAIN. I truly am very impressed with this and hope to buy a full size if I can't ever find them.[product:bare-escentuals-mineral-veil-finishing-powder-9g-full-size-original-9g/003-oz]
Awesome Makeup line
I have been buying bareminerals since 2008 I have very dry skin and rosea since this makeup of all natural ingredients it helped both my dry skin and cleared up my roses. Leslie has done amazing things with her line and always has amazing holiday sets plus the brushes can be washed I still have some of the very first ones I bought and are still in good condition. If you have dry skin or are older like me prime time is a must. If bareminerals had sales reps I would've been one since 2008 I completely believe in this line of cosmetics
Good for tan-colored skin
I was skeptical about using since it's kind of a "one size fits all" type. I'm very glad this one is tinted. It works well for me. I've been doing a lot of outside activity and while using my same bare minerals foundation powder I can still wear it without the color looking off. I add Warmth as a bronzer around my face and finish with tinted mineral veil. Works for me without over drying and looking unnatural.
I tried well rested and it was very chalky on me.
I will continue to use and purchase again.
I've been on a powder...
I've been on a powder hiatus for quite a while, since I get self conscious, thinking that it will call attention to my fine lines. And then I remembered how I used to use this and absolutely loved it. I will be picking some up soon, since it's so finely milled and keeps my summer shine at bay. I'm probably dating myself saying this, but do you remember the Barbara Walters Special , where Barbara always had this incandescent lighting whenever she interviewed her guests? Well this is exactly like that-it's a soft focus for your face.
Best formula sad shade range
This powder is a game changer with formula. It's a perfect finish without making u look Cakey and adds a beautiful glow! However I have a tan skin tone and It's WAY too light. It makes me look like a ghost. the tinted mineral veil is also too red and deep for me! I have mixed the two together to get my perfect holy grail product but it's sad someone should have to do that. I've also seen Black girls say that even the tinted one is far too light for them! Bare minerals please step up your shade range! I can never recommend these products to my other friends without telling them how I've become a chemist and my Black friends DONT even have the option to mix two expensive products together to get their shade. All skin tones deserve to feel beautiful and if you as a brand stepped up your inclusion I could see a lot of consumers trying and loving your products.
