No thank you! I

No thank you! I don't get the love for this powder guys! I really hated it! It made my makeup a different color, umm setting powder is supposed to be translucent, or at least brightening! This just made me look chalky and beigey ( if that was a word lol). You could see lines and creases that I literally do not even have lol! I had to wash my face and start all over! I was so mad too bc I had a great makeup day going ( you know what I'm talking about!) but dusted this stuff on and I just looked gross haha! I don't know, maybe it's just me but I DO NOT recommend this powder at all! The $1 wet&wild powder I've tried before was 100 times better than this!!

Used to love this product

I know there's probably hundreds of reviews already pointing this out, but my hope is that if enough people complain, then Bare Minerals will go back to the old formula. The mineral veil USED to be my favorite thing in my makeup bag. HOWEVER, I recently bought a new one and the color is terrible. What used to be a truly colorless powder is now straight up orange. It doesn't match my skin tone at all, and it looks ridiculous. Once upon a time I would have recommended this product to anyone, but now it's so disappointing. WHY DID THEY CHANGE IT? Please bring back the old formula!

What happened? This is NOT thecsame mineral veil

I have used mineral veil for years. I just purchased a new one and what the heck has happened? I had a little of my old jar left and the color is different. The texture is different. The finish is different. Even the smell is different. It settles into my fine lines. My skin looks like every drop of moisture has been sucked out of it. Never had this happen with previous purchases. So disappointing. Now I have to go through the process of trying to find another finishing powder. And hopefully it was just the veil and my complexion rescue is not messed up as well. Why when companies change hands do the new owners have to mess with the product. :/ ugh.

Mineral veil has changed!

I have used the original mineral veil for 15+ years. I ordered some last fall when it was the bonus size. That product had an orangish tint to it that other people are complaining about. I still used most of it because I was outside of my return window. I checked back now months later and it seems like their new formula still has the same issues of being an orange color. I have gone back to Clinique loose powder and love it, much better! Sad, I used to love the mineral veil but obviously they are not listening to their customers that it's just not the same.

What Happened to My Old Favorite?

I recently repurchased the hydrating mineral veil, a long-time standby in my makeup drawer. I've always loved the illuminating glow it left on my skin, and the light, sheer coverage it provided. When I tried it this time, I didn't have that same beautiful glow, and it left my skin feeling smothered, and my pores clogged. I just tried purchasing the illuminating mineral veil, and it's just a shimmery powder. It doesn't have the same luminous highlights as the old powder, and it's very dry. You folks really screwed this one up big time. I've seen a lot of negative reviews for the changes made to this line. Hope they are taking them to heart and making changes accordingly.

what happened to your Mineral veil!

I have been using Mineral Veil for many many years, however on my last purchase of the original veil something has changed and not for the better. when I opened and applied product from the new one my face looked pink/orange! Upon further inspection. I placed both containers side by side and you can see that there is a significant difference in color! SO I had to return to the store.PLEASE correct this or I will have to look for a new setting powder.Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product at this time, until they correct this pigmentation of color change.Fingers crossed!

Warning they changed the color!

I've used Bare Minerals since they came out, almost 20 years and wished I had read they reviews before I repurchased this. The color has changed. I'm very fair and this was the only product I used to set my concealer under my eyes. I'm over 50 years old and this powder never creased in my wrinkles or smile lines. BUT, No longer! I had a little left in my old container which is about a year old and they do not match. Now it's a weird orange pink color. It's going back, another staple ruined. The search for a new powder begins and its not going to be from Bare Minerals.

It's orange!!

I've been using the original mineral veil setting powder in translucent for nearly 15 years and have always loved it. The last few orders I've received though were orange, as other reviewers have said. I thought the first one was a fluke, so I ordered again a few months later and, again, orange. It's terrible. When I put it under my eyes I look ill. I hope this has just been a bad batch because if they changed the formula they've lost a very loyal customer. (Photo below shows original formula on bottom vs. recent order on top)

COLOR CHANGE

I have used Orginal Mineral Veil for 15 years now, the last time I went to purchase, the color changed. It was a pale translucent powder, which worked for me no matter how pale or tan I was. It is now a peach orange color, which DOES NOT blend with fair skin. My daughter is a pale redhead and this made her skin look orange, looked like she had on cheap makeup! Very disappointed in the changing of this formula! There already are tinted variations, for darker skin. What about those with very pale skin, Bare Minerals???

Don't buy if you're very pale!

If you're really pale this product is not for you. It made it look like I had a contour/blush all over my face when I looked at it in natural light. It's a warm medium browny/pink shade. It was about 1-2 shades darker than I am (I tried it on it's own so I know it's not anything else causing it to change shade).

For comparison: I'm N1 in L'oreal's True Match foundation. I'd probably say if you're paler than that up to 2 in that shade range this is probably too dark for you. You might be fine if you're 2.5 or up although it probably depends on whether you're warm/neutral/cool as well. Can't really tell for sure but based on most people reviewing this product favorably it probably does work on most darker skin tones. If you're 0.5 or 1 this is definitely way too dark.

I will say that the formula seems okay enough from what I can tell from trying it the one time but I obviously can't try it properly to be able to judge the formula so my 1 star isn't for the formula but because they're claiming it works on 'all skin tones' when this is blatantly false. Wish I had taken note of the other reviews saying it made their face 'orange'. So if you're really pale, be warned.

Tinted Mineral Veil

I have used the tinted mineral veil for about 10 years and have always loved it. Recently upon purchasing a new container, I have fallen out of love. I am not sure if the formulation has changed, but something is not right and unfortunately it is just awful. It is far too light and very cakey looking on my skin. I would return it, but unfortunately that is not a possibility at this point. I can only say buyer beware. This brand has changed drastically over the past few years, and not for the better. Very disappointed customer indeed.

LIGHTER THAN AIR

After a few years and a LOT of "Trial & Error" in applying the original Bare Minerals foundation, I'm FINALLY able to get a sheer, flawless look I've always heard about!

I love watching the shopping channels to find new things, and saw a presentation of Mineral Veil. I came right to this BareMinerals.com website to learn everything I could about it.

I'm 59 yrs old & my skin is extremely dry, so I ordered the HYDRATING formula.

When I opened it & tried to put some in the lid, it went EVERYWHERE. Like a fan had hit it. There isn't very much product in the container, and I just lost some. I snuck up on it, and got some into the lid. When I put my brush into it & swirled it around, it went EVERYWHERE except on my brush. I'm STILL not sure if I've ever REALLY applied the product. I now mix it with the Original foundation, and it's a little better, but I'm still not sure what it's doing. Or if it's even there! I've only had it for a few months & it's almost empty. Most of it wound up on the floor or my lap or my clothes. There's a LOT of it stuck between the container & that thing that turns to use it. THAT'LL go up in a puff of powder when I pry it off when it's "empty". It is, literally, LIGHTER THAN AIR.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this stuff is too expensive to waste trying to USE it. Until this container issue is resolved, don't even bother trying it. It's been a huge waste of time & money.

Mineral Veil - Hydrating?! It seems to have disappeared.

I know that I am in the minority, considerably, with this review, but Mineral Veil just did not do (for me, anyway) what it is touted to do. I was very disappointed with the lack-luster results after giving it a decent amount of time to work its charms, and, sadly, it did not. It left my skin parched and patchy with too much of a "disco ball" effect, believe it or not, and that was after applying the veil to clean, exfoliated, healthy, smooth and hydrated skin using a very light application with tapping, careful blending and buffing using the recommended brush and / or tool(s). I know of course that Mineral Veil is an award-winning product and considered the holy grail, a miracle in a jar (or container, in this case) so to speak, but that was not my experience, which is fine, as you find out these things through trial and error. I returned the product with no regrets for having given it a shot.

Not worth it

I read some of the reviews when I bought this, I like to get feedback before buying. I really like bareminerals and I have been really impressed with most other products I've bought. I was so excited about this product that I over looked the negative feedback and went for it. I have acne which isnt terrible but enough that i use concealer to hide imperfections. For someone with flawless skin already, I bet this product would be great. This product seemed unnecessary to even put on. It left too much powder residue on my skin and yet my imperfections where even more noticeable. I am not a fan.

Glitter overdose!

I wanted to try a new veil since I dont care much for the regular mineral veil and I decided to try this out. The store counter girl applied it on my face and it looked ok but it was night time. This morning I tried applying some like I do the regular veil; swirl, tap, buff and out the door. As soon as I got in the car and the sun hit my face I felt l looked like a vampire out of twilight!!!!! I was so embarrased I ran back home washed my face and re did my makeup. I cant imagine me walking around the office looking like Kesha's long lost glitter twin sister. Unless you want to look like a twilight vampire OD'd on glitter stay away from this garbage!

Go Back To The Original Packaging

I think everyone knows by now that this is great at setting your foundation without building up, changing color, etc., so I am not reviewing it based on that. I would give it 5 stars for that alone. I am giving my review based on this so-called "travel friendly" container. Yes, it is good for travel because you can turn the lid to close the holes to prevent any from falling out. BUT, when it gets almost empty, you can no longer take the inner lid off to use the remaining powder. No matter how much, or how hard you shake it, it will not come out. You wind up throwing away a good amount of powder that could have been used otherwise. This container is very wasteful, and this stuff isn't cheap. Seems to me like BE has figured out a way to get more money from consumers. I will no longer purchase this anymore unless the original container is made available again. I'm nobody's fool!

Too much shimmer

I was totally sold on this when I got it... but after taking it home and using it, I wasn't happy at all. Not to mention, I didn't know that I would be getting a small freebie (which is way more than enough) of the same shiny stuff... I wish the lady at the checkout would have told me I was getting one before she actually rang up my whole purchase. So, long story short, I got the normal size of the shiny stuff PLUS a smaller free one which is a lot just by itself. I feel like they just wanted me to blow $22-$30 on the large one and didn't even suggest me putting it back since I was getting the free one regardless. I wish I could go back and return all of the shiny stuff, it makes me look VERY greasy and shiny in every picture (I have normal skin) :( I definitely won't be using this ever again.

I am really glad that I ...

I am really glad that I had started using different BE products sequentially versus at the same time because I think I would have been more hesitant to try some after my experience with mineral veil. I had started using the skin care products for about a month and my skin was responding well. Then I had started using the original foundation for about one and a half weeks and my skin was still responding well. Then I tried the original mineral veil and the first two days of usage were great as I liked the flawless finish it provided. Days three and four were not good at all as my skin started to break out; I stopped using the product at which point my skin slowly began to heal. Although I don't know for sure, I suspect it was the cornstarch in the product that clogged my pores and, if you have acne-prone skin, putting cornstarch on your face may provide any bacteria there with food to grow. It could not have been the brushes I was using as the foundation brush had not even been used for 2 weeks and the brush I was using for the mineral veil was brand new. My skin has done well with other BE products and none of them have the ingredients that are in the original mineral veil as I have made a point to stay away from them. I have also switched to the matte foundation and it provides such a beautiful, natural finish and controls oil that I feel like it fulfills a lot of the same functions as the extra layer of mineral veil would do.
