bareMinerals Tinted Mineral Veil Setting Powder 2-stars Reviews
Do not use this to set concealer under eyes!
I've been using the Original Mineral Veil for over a decade now, to set the concealer I use to cover my dark under eye circles. It worked beautifully, so imagine my shock when I opened my latest purchase and discovered what looked like glitter in the powder, and when I used it as usual, the glittery effect actually HIGHLIGHTED the dark circles. It's completely useless to me. You can see the shimmer in the photo I attached but it's even more shimmery in real life.
I was irritated because I thought they had changed the product, but now I realize they created a new product, the Illuminating Mineral Veil, and they didn't bother to alter the top of the container so that it says "Illuminating". I grabbed this product accidentally because the lid says "Original Mineral Veil". The company should have created different lids for the different products to avoid confusion. So if you're looking for something with shimmer, this is probably great, but for the love of god don't use it under your eyes.
Not anymore
I have been using the Original Mineral Veil powder for a few years now. I loved it and it was my HG powder for awhile. I have very fair and oily skin. I have tried so many different brands over the years looking for a powder that could set my makeup and combat my oily skin. I was so happy when I tried this powder because I thought that I had finally found a powder that took away the oiliness but was not heavy or cakey. The best part was I didn't even have to reapply the powder as it really kept the oiliness at bay for many hours throughout the day. But alas, all good things come to an end. I have noticed that in my last couple of repurchases, the quality was just not the same anymore. Not only was it no longer keeping my skin matte, I would have to reapply only after a couple hours or I would end up a greasy mess. Also, it leaves behind a strange orange tint to my skin. It used to have no color at all but now it makes my skin look unnaturally orange. I am so disappointed in whatever change in formulation they decided to use for this product. It was great before but not anymore. I hope they go back to their original formula. Now I have to try out other brands again to search for a better and hopefully HG powder to replace this one.
I used to use
I used to use this powder years ago and recently got one in boxycharm. Its ok. Nothing revolutionary. Its a loose setting powder. It does feel very light weight. I can barely feel it's even on my face but it makes my skin oily faster then other powders. I like the way it looks when first applied. It helps smooth out texture and set foundation/concealer but an hour later and I have to apply more because my t zone will get more oily then usual. It also has a very slight shimmer/sparkle to it and I prefer my powder to be matte. I have texture and pores so anything glowy or dewy accentuates that which I don't want.
I know a lot of ppl love this powder and it's been a cult fave for a long time but it just doesn't work well with my skin type.
I did not have
I did not have any luck at all with this product. My jar was defective and the plastic distributed cap kept popping off wasting product *cue titanic theme song*. However, what I was able to use, I wasn't a huge fan. I felt that the product gave my skin an orange tint (and I have PORCELAIN skin so it was very noticeable). It creased and my mascara still ended up smearing under my eyes (it's like it stuck to the concealer on my under eye and then fell off). I love loose powder setters so that was what made me try it but I'm sad to say it wasn't for me because I love the bareminerals bare pro.
Upset!
I literally have been using this one for years. I am the fairest skin ever! And this is the best stuff ever. And have went through countless number of these! The last one I bought I thought maybe I ordered the wrong one...Nope. And I see right now many recently are complaining how something has changed in the compound of this formula - it is not translucent anymore. There is a pink tink that's very noticeable before having to even open up but I tried it the same as my makeup routine, and wow it really shows on my skin and looks bad. I returned it yesterday. I don't know what to use now :(
Review of Hydrating Veil Only
I love original Mineral Veil. I'm 55 years old and my skin benefits from extra moisture, so I thought that Hydrating Mineral Veil would be a good fit. Unfortunately, it has a thick, shiny quality that highlights wrinkles and fine lines. It looks a little like I'm wearing the kind of liquid foundation that stopped using years ago when I switched to Bare Minerals. I'll be switching back to the original formula Mineral Veil. Also, the powder is so fine that it goes *everywhere* as soon as I open the container and try to apply it. I'm also disappointed because Hydrating Mineral Veil is SPF 20.
Way too glittery
I love the original Mineral Veil. I have used it for years and I think it's the best finishing powder out there, especially for anyone with any fine lines or wrinkles because it is so finely milled and does not settle into pores. I wanted to try this as it is advertized as being very subtle and giving a nice, subtle glow. Glow is right - it made my face a shiny, glittery, unnatural mess. There is no actual glitter it in, but that is what it looks like on my skin. The only way I could possibly use this product is when I am completely finished with my make-up and add just a teeny, tiny bit, or even use as a highlighter. I saw another reviewer suggest adding a touch of this to regular mineral veil and I might try it that way so at least my money is not wasted and perhaps I can use it that way.
It's ok, but not worth the price.
I like how it is the just about the same skin tone as me, it's a little too pink, could be a tiny paler, but the closest thing I've found without mixing baby powder or a white makeup. However, it doesn't quite sit right on my skin, it is noticeable, makes me look pasty and chalky, and doesn't cover red spots too well. For the price I paid for it, it wasnt worth it. I really did have higher expectations for it. My skin hasn't seemed to clear any more since I started using this line, it actually seems a bit worse, which I find strange because mineral makeup is supposed to be much better for you.
Not impressed
I was very excited to try this product since I had already tried the original mineral veil and liked it a lot. I figured this would be the same thing but with more hydration. Unfortunately this powder did not look as pretty and flawless as the original mineral veil. It didn't add the finishing touch of an airbrushed look quite like the original. I didn't notice any difference as far as hydration goes but what I did notice was little specks of shimmer in this product. It's not extremely noticeable but enough to make me annoyed that it wasn't in the description. I returned this product and got the original mineral veil instead.
Glitter not Glam
I bought this to replace my almost-empty Mineral Veil, spf 25. Assuming that they all would have the spf, I did not check (why would a product down-grade over time after all). Not only that, the "illuminating" factor of this is simply glitter, not appropriate for my 57-year-old face. I have always been able to use my old Mineral Veil with or without other makeup, as it does a great job of covering and cannot be seen. But, the sparkle on this makes it laughable on my face. This particular product can only to be used on specific areas, apparently.
Not for People who care about their skin
This product does NOT do what it says it does! It clogs pores, settles into ALL facial crevasses. It does not prevent oiliness. When u do become oily u have to put more & more on, which in turn clogs pores even more! It causes breakouts & blackheads to be more pronounced! I think that the whole Bare Minerals line is Cheaply made as far as packaging & use goes. It's ALL VERY MESSY to use! Even to touch up @ work, a night out on the town, @ a resturaunt or....ETC, U have to make sure u:
1. Don't get it all over yourself or ur clothes, esp..anything BLACK/DARK COLORED
2. Hope it doesn't get all over the counter or surrounding area so u don't have to clean it up
It's very disappointing that over SOOOO many yrs & SOOO many complaints about packaging that the Bare Minerals company has not heard it's customers & changed packaging.
So to sum up I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product for people who want healthy skin!
