bareMinerals Tinted Mineral Veil Setting Powder 3-stars Reviews
Best formula sad shade range
This powder is a game changer with formula. It's a perfect finish without making u look Cakey and adds a beautiful glow! However I have a tan skin tone and It's WAY too light. It makes me look like a ghost. the tinted mineral veil is also too red and deep for me! I have mixed the two together to get my perfect holy grail product but it's sad someone should have to do that. I've also seen Black girls say that even the tinted one is far too light for them! Bare minerals please step up your shade range! I can never recommend these products to my other friends without telling them how I've become a chemist and my Black friends DONT even have the option to mix two expensive products together to get their shade. All skin tones deserve to feel beautiful and if you as a brand stepped up your inclusion I could see a lot of consumers trying and loving your products.
Again, as in the...
Again, as in the makeup (foundation), this was ultimately a powder. I liked the idea of the finishing powder but had to give it up. It looked like a layer of powder on my dry skin and didn't really do as much as it promised to do. I was one of the early adopters of bare minerals and still have some in my makeup box. But I would not buy it again... my skin just doesn't do that well with any powder... except a similar product made by Clinique years ago, which seemed to have a lot of moisture despite being a powder.
Great Powder, container not so much, bit pricey
Love this Powder, however it is quite on the orange side lately. The Tester in the Store looks normal translucent, yet the ones for purchase are more orange like the Tinted Veil. Label mixup??? Also, while I appreciate the inner Twist & Lock seal of the sifter, which comes in handy when traveling as the Powder stays contained, the inability to completely unscrew the Sifter entirely is annoying. When the Powder gets low it is hard to get it out through the Sifter and since you can't unscrew the Sifter from the container like on other Powders it's wasteful because there's always still Powder stuck in there. It's especially annoying since this isn't exactly cheap Powder, so I would prefer to use it in its entirety.
For now I'm reviewing...
For now I'm reviewing this as I've used their powder foundation underneath. Next month I'll try with a liquid foundation and update review. I didn't care for this product along with the powder foundation on my aging skin. It seemed cakey, especially by the end with a powder foundation, powder blush and powder bronzer. I just didn't like the finished look with all of that powder. Even with all of the swirling and tapping off the excess it just didn't work on me. This worked better for me with a liquid foundation. Although I had a shade that looked peachy and that color on me made me look orange. Ewww. I had a pale translucent color and that one did so much better. Now the translucent was nice and would use this again (only with a liquid foundation). I also "caked" for a few days around my large pore area and it not only worked well but it lasted all day without reapplying.
This was my first ever...
This was my first ever finishing powder when I first started getting into make up and back then it totally worked. Now, I don't know that it is the best setting powder. I can definitely tell the days I use this vs my other setting powders as my makeup tends to continue to run and doesn't set as well. On some days too it feels like my face is too dry, while other days it doesn't show any of my dry patches. I think it is a great starter, but as I tested more products I find myself reaching for this less and less.
Orange Crush!
As a woman of Celtic heritage I take umbrage at the lack of options available to me across the board. Almost everything you offer looks orange on my bluish pink skin. What is left is the color Opal, which would also be orange if it had any color to it, but it is so light that it does not offend. I would love to have a darker option without the orange. Please hire testers with my ancestry so I can stay with B.M. I am weary of this~~~ And while you're at it please offer an eyeshadow pallette that is glitter free.
Not bad, but the original is better
I love the original Mineral Veil as a setting powder, but I thought I'd try the Illuminating version to achieve a more "glowy" finish. Unfortunately, part of what makes this an illuminating powder is that it has glitter in it...LOTS of glitter. It still provides a nice soft finish, but the sparkles just make it look less natural than I would like. Maybe as a highlighter it would be OK, but it's not ideal as an all-over powder. I'll use the rest of the container, but I'll probably be going back to the original version when it's gone.
Be careful what foundation you set this with!!
I bought this because I've heard so many good reviews on it, and people say that it's great to set with your foundation. However, I don't own any bare minerals' foundations, so I set my Born This Way foundation with the mineral veil powder -- BAD idea. It caked up my foundation, made everything patchy within a few hours, and faded to an orange color by the end of my day. It probably sets bare minerals powder foundations better than any other foundation, so be careful with using this to set any other foundation.
Great Hydrating Mineral Veil but there's a issue.
I just received my order today for my Hydrating Mineral Veil which I normally get. I was more then half way out of my old one so I decided to order a new one. Well, to my disappointment, the sealed container was half way or a little less then half way full. Almost looked the same as my old container that I have been using for a while. Very odd. Is it a manufacture mistake where they don't fill the container all the way? Usually they are full... Product itself is great. Love the Hydrating Mineral Veil but I won't be purchasing anymore if this is now what I get for 20.00 + dollars...
So sad
I have extremely dry skin, and was disappointed the first time I used the bare minerals foundation and this veil as they seemed to really accentuate my dry patches. I was applying this mineral veil beneath my foundation as I have been told that can help relieve the itchiness that newbies get when first using bare minerals. It is true that my face seems less itchy when using this beneath my foundation. BUT, I absolutely cannot use it to go over my foundation because it makes my face look horribly dry. I am not sure if it is a particular ingredient in this that is causing this reaction, but it is just awful and totally ruins the work I have put into my foundation. Really wish I could have the experience most people have with this, that it would finish everything beautifully, but it is just not the case for me. Maybe I can try the hydrating one in the future, but for now I am probably going to have to search for a different product to finish my face with (such as a setting spray).
Amazing, but not... I'll explain
I have gotten this in the original formula as well as the tinted one. The original formula essentially does little, in my opinion. Sure its a nice soft finishing powder, but could I live without it? Yes. Does it blur my fine lines or imperefctions? Eh, not so much really. Plus it makes me appear slightly more 'ghosty' than I normally do. The TINTED one however, holy moly! It's like a WORLD of difference! Now, I say a world of difference in reference to finishing powders of course haahahaha..... It gives the slightest bit of color, just enough to really make your face look amazing. The tinted one, GREAT - the original one, I could live without.
Doesn't have desired effect
I've been using BE products for 5 years. I bought the mineral veil when I first started purchasing BE foundation. When I use it immediately after putting on foundation, I actually notice my T-zone becomes oilier later on as opposed to not using it. However, when I apply it later on, after I am a little oiler, it does take the oiliness away. It gives a dusty look to my face, in my opinion, and kind of has a counter-effect to the "warmth" product. I haven't noticed that it works for me like the site claims that it should. I won't buy this again. It does last a long time though.
Nice product
I use this product everyday to finish my usual makeup routine. I had previously used the mineral veil and decided to try something different. In terms of finish, I like the dewiness of the mineral veil much better. This product is not matte but it's not shimmery either, you can't really even tell that it's on. Since I work in a kitchen and it is really hot I don't wear foundation in the summer, I just use this product and my skin looks good, not as good as it does with foundation though. I will probably go back to the mineral veil when this runs out.
