okay

I have this and a few other banana powders. This is my favourite for texture, along with Dermablend. It doesn't cake under eyes the way others can do. This is a beautiful, very finely milled powder. There is no powdery mask effect, it blends seamlessly with the skin or makeup, blurs and smoothes skin nicely. I don't have any real complaints, except that I bought Buttercup Light and it's still a tad dark. I'm considering getting the No Colour and mixing the two, or adding Dermablend Cool Beige. Under my eyes it's too yellow and darkening on its own.

Yes, it's pricier than some other brands, but you do receive substantial product and it's mattifying without being drying, allows for a natural finish over one resembling an exploded fire hydrant. I may also mix the Sasha Light and No Colour or fair powder with some Light Pink Elf Halo Powder make it more effective under the eyes. On its own it's fine on the rest of my (pale olive peach toned) skin. But hear this, if you haven't tried banana powder, you should. It takes skin set with powder from pasty to healthy, dull to fresh, blotchy to even.

Quite magical!

I'm a longtime user of the Matte Loose Powder Foundation, but have been experimenting with a few other of bareminerals' products. I had a sample of translucent mineral veil that I didn't really know how to use (I don't layer on multiple products, and tend to be a minimal makeup person) so it sat in my makeup bag for a few months. Then I decided to try out the new stick foundation, and I was a bit concerned by how it felt sticky on my skin, like it was sitting on top but not really set. Hmm... An idea! I pulled out the Mineral veil and lightly brushed it in all over... Aha! Perfect! It "set" the makeup, no more sticky or wet feeling, and it made my face suddenly look soft focus. Amazing! As long as my go-to is the matte powder, I'm not sure I'll have much use for this but for special occasions where heavier coverage is called for, this makes the absolute perfect finishing touch.

BareMinerals always...

BareMinerals always does a great job with their powders and majority of their cosmetics. I gave it four stars because the cost is super high and I don't really think it's worth the cost. My mother however swears by those products and that's the only thing she uses. I do you like how the product works with my skin. I've had no issues even though I have skin conditions for example eczema and it doesn't bring out any redness at all. Overall it's a very nice product and it definitely does illuminate especially where my highlight is. Overall this product definitely has earned four stars.

A Apprehensive Customer

I haven't been using Bare Minerals very long, I am needing to place another. After reading the latest reviews on Mineral Veil, I think I'm going to pass. Everyone is complaining about the color being a orange color or not being the color they have been using for many years, But there is no explanation from Bare Minerals why the change. For many many years, I had been told that Bare Minerals products are top of the line but with the fact that there are more negative reviews than positive, that tells me something. To bad, I really wanted to love the product.

This is a decent...

This is a decent finishing/setting powder. The version I have as SPF 25 to help protect my skin from the sun's harmful rays. I think if I could make a change to this I would create a translucent version. My favorite part about this brand is that they do their best to create products that help the skin and are not harmful. The original has a little shimmer in it vs the matte. If you like a little glow then get the original, but if you prefer a matte finish stick with the matte version. (I've even used this mineral veil with different foundations and it works very well.)

Original Mineral Veil Color is WRONG

Did Bare Minerals recolor their Original Mineral Veil or is this just a fluke??? I recently purchased Mineral Veil and noticed the drastic difference in color. As you can see in the photo they are nowhere near the same color. The one on the right looks pinky orange similar to the tinted version. PLEASE FIX THIS! I have fair skin and have been using this product for over 10 years. I can't use this now. If the company did change the color, I really don't understand why you would mess with a best-selling product that has been in your product line since the company was founded. I really hope the original light pink mineral veil comes back to stores soon!

glow greater than the gods

it is a tricky powder to work with due to the amount of shimmer. there is a lot of incredibly small, micro fine glitter, so you can't use it the same way you would apply normal translucent powder with a large brush. you just have to be careful of the amount you use. I find that using a smaller premise brush helps you do exactly that and sets the makeup beautifully, and is also very long lasting (12+hrs). the product does require a decent amount of finesse in getting it to work, but the result it gives is totally worth it for me.

very shimmery

I mostly like this. The packaging is excellent, it's smart the way it slides to cover up the sifter holes in case the container gets turned sideways or knocked around. However, it takes a VERY light hand to use all over unless you want to look like a twilight vampire. It's more of a subtle highlighter than an all over finishing powder. I've been using a different powder to set and then either just using this on the highlight areas or just dusting a tiny tiny bit on (hitting the cheekbones first and then dusting over the rest of the face with whatever is left on the brush seems to work okay).

Beautiful finishing powder

I would say the claims of this powder are true- it seems hydrating to the skin & doesn't dry me out like most powders do. It gives a really nice finish that doesn't look cakey. The color of the powder reminds me of a banana powder... so I can see why people with a very fair complexion may have complaints about the shade but it doesn't bother me. I have light skin with neutral undertone. I wouldn't use this powder to bake my under eyes with because of the color- it wouldn't do much for brightening. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because the consistency of the powder is very strange- I have a hard time getting it to adhere to my brushes so it makes application tricky- maybe a bareminerals brush specifically made for their products would do the trick but I'm not feeling ambitious enough to go out and spend extra money on a brush just for this one powder.

natural undereye

i was given this. its my favorite undereye powder. i hate how most foundations look unnatural on my skin but this gives me a beautiful glow where i highlight and dusted inder my eyes and on my nose. it makes the makeup look like skin. yes it has the tinyiest microsparkle but it looks beautiful and brightening. honestly i wish it had the luminosity without the shimmer but i can really only tell in the sun. im younger so this doesnt bother me. its a really pretty highlight to. very natural. plus this tiny container lasts forever. definately going to repurchase. but might try the finishes of the other mineral viels.

Matte Finish

I decided to try this product because unlike other setting powders I've tried, it has a matte finish and doesn't leave sparkle particles all over your face. This product is great for controlling shine on more oily parts of my face and blends well with my current foundation, which is a different brand. The only downfall is the powder does not last my full day, which I can't complain too much about, since I have a thirteen hour day.

The shine control on this product is amazing. My face has a lot of "normal" areas, but my forehead and between my eyebrows have a tendency to build up oil throughout the day. This product absolutely reduces the shine and I have noticed it looks very matte throughout most of my day. The matte usually lasts until about the eight hour point. After that, it slowly begins to fade.

The product stays on the face for about eight hours, which is definitely a long time. It was slightly disappointing since it didn't last the full thirteen hour days I have, but I can't complain too much as it works very well. I simply reapply near the seven hour point and my face looks great for the rest of the day.

Overall, I will buy again and would recommend.

Great highlighter!

I bought this Illuminating Mineral Veil along with the original mineral veil because I couldn't decide between the two. I'm glad I did, because I would not use this all over my face. It's too shimmery for that, BUT it's PERFECT as a highlighter! I use it on my cheekbones just above my blush. If you like to contour, I recommend this product as your highlight shade. It's very light and airy and shimmery (without being glittery or sparkly). Glad I bought it! It should last for a long time since I'm not using it all over! In fact, this would be great as a body shimmer. You could dust it on your shoulders when you wear an open-shoulder top and it would be a beautiful, subtle shimmer powder!

Really does make a difference!

My daily beauty routine is pretty simple compared to most people ... Moisturizer, tinted moisturizer (use complexion rescue), concealer, eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara if I have time or feel like it. I started looking into a finishing/setting powder after looking into the mirror after a busy 8 hours shift at work. Maybe it wasn't noticeable to others because I don't wear full coverage foundation, but at least I could notice how much the complexion rescue has faded away mostly around where I have dark spots from acne healing process.

I know BM mineral veil has existed forever, it's relatively low cost compared to other powders, and complexion rescue & concealer haven't made me breakout so I figured why not - let's try another BM product. And I'm surprised how much difference a tiny tiny amount of powder on my face makes! Of course it's still not as good as when I first applied my make up, but my make up after work was still relatively good considering I didn't do any touch up what so ever. Few days ago, I knew I was only going to be outside for maybe 3-4 hours so I decided to skip mineral veil, and I was shocked to discover how much difference it was compared to the days that I've been wearing mineral veil. I can only imagine how much difference it can make for people who wears more medium to full coverage foundation :)

Lovely Sparkle

Mineral Veil is applied over top of the rest of your makeup as a finishing powder to settle everything in. The Illuminating Mineral Veil adds a touch of...sparkle...to your face, hence the "illuminating" in the title. It is supposed to help capture the light and make your skin look dewy and fresh. It does, depending on how much you put on. Heavy application will settle into those fine lines (not good) and too little application will not provide the glow. A nice product/effect and I would definately recommend it for special occasions, photographs, and in low-light conditions. Not too fond of it as an everyday product, but again, it depends on how much you put on. As a side note, as with all Mineral Veil products, because of the super-fine grain/consistency, when "swirling" and "tapping," it does create quite a bit of dust in the air, so be careful when breathing while using this product.

A bit chalky...

I have been using Mineral Veil since I first started with BE. Normally I have used the Illuminating Mineral Veil, but while in a boutique recently I thought I would give the hydrating formula a try. It does have a bit of sparkle in it, which is something I love about the Illuminating formula. However, for me this product feels a bit chalky when being applied and bit "rough" if you will. That being said, it still works wonders to even and freshen everything up, and while I don't feel that it is necessarily more "hydrating" it still looks flawless. Not sure yet if I would purchase this formula again or stick with my go to.

Fabulous product! Perhaps redesign the container.

This product is great! I have combination skin and it is difficult to find a moisturizer that fully hydrates the dry areas without causing more blemishes. I get blemishes towards my hairline and on the top of my nose and dry flaky patches at the base of my nose, (usually only in the winter, but my skin is dry otherwise.) I started using this product in the middle of the winter along with my normal facial lotion for extra moisture, because I live in Michigan in an area with low humidity. The dry, flaky patches that were around my nose disappeared in less than three weeks! AND it didn't cause me to develop blemishes. Now that summer temperatures are on their way in, I've added toner to my daily facial cleansing routine. Before I started using this product, I used toner every other day during the summers, so my routine hasn't been forced to change much. The powder has yellow/neutral undertones as opposed to the original mineral veil's pink/warm undertones. This allows me to choose what type of finish I want to have on my skin, which has slightly olive undertones, (I use medium beige foundation.) The powder also has more shimmer to it than the original, but that is not noticeable when it is applied. It is a great way to add a little variety to your usual makeup routine! The only real issue I have with this product is the container. The powder is so fine, (possibly finer than the original mineral veil, but I'm not sure), and the hole for dispensing it is so large, I feel like I waste a lot every time I use it! In four months, I used approximately 1.5 grams of the original mineral veil and in the same time, I used approximately 3 grams of the hydrating mineral veil. Some attention to the container design might be worth looking into in order to make the customer feel like they're getting a better value! But overall, it is a wonderful product!!!

I feel like it makes a difference.

I have used this on and off for the past three years or so. The only reason being is the price. Otherwise I would probably always have this at my side. I feel like this is the perfect finishing step for my makeup routine. I have fair skin and I feel as if this blends well into my skin tone. I can't really describe what it is but I see the difference in the before and after of applying this product. While I love my drugstore alternatives and they work well for me when I need them they almost seem lacking when compared to this Mineral Veil.

product okay but packaging needs work

i have had a lot of difficulty getting the right amount of this product to come out of the holes. mostly too much comes out and then the container is filled with it and i have to pour it back. then when i limit it to just one hole not enough comes out and i shake it and end up with too much again. so something needs to be adjusted. maybe the hole sizes should be smaller since the powder is so fine. when you use too much it looks ghostly on you and a little too shimmery. so getting the amount right is essential. otherwise i like it okay. it does minimize pores somewhat. and it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin like any other kind of skin makeup from anywhere else does.

Small Change

I use this product every morning. I noticed that my skin isn't as flaky and dry as when I used the regular Mineral Veil, so I can tell that it really does hydrate my skin without making it oily or greasy (which it already is naturally). The only thing that I'm still not OK with is the fact that this type of Mineral Veil has some kind shimmer or glitter in it. It does NOT look like you are wearing body glitter, but it is definitely something to be aware of because you can see the shimmer when the power floats in the air when you tap your brush.
