It works

I gave this 4 stars because you will see color… too bad you can't really see where you're putting the color during application. I recommend using a kabuki brush to ensure even coverage.

No matter how I prepped my skin, the color was kinda inconsistent and it gets orange pretty easily. Don't apply with a heavy hand. It does take a while to dry and there can be some transfer so be careful. Also, like with any spray, be mindful of whether the mist is getting on the floor. You'll wind up with oompa loompa feet. Lesson learned, lol.

The only self-tanner I'll use

I loveee the ease and quick dry of the tanning oil. I wish they carried them in stores so I could get them quicker than waiting online or having to pay for shipping but tbh it's worth it. I always get compliments of how tan I look and I've never had someone ask if it was a self-tanner because it looks so real. I ordered one for my mom as well and it was easy enough for her to use by herself and she's in her early 60s. Highly recommend trying it if you've been on the fence and if you're too low maintenance for the other tanners that have to set and then wash off.

Good, but similar to others I already have

I've been a user of spray-tan solutions used with a mitt for years. I was looking for something specifically designed for face use that would be moisturizing. I found Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Self-tanning Oil not to be particularly moisturizing, or any more an "oil" than other liquid self tanners I've used. It was a nice color result - great for olive-toned skin and applied with a mitt, worked well without any streaking. I've only used it on my body thus far and haven't tried it on my face yet, but I think I'll stick with tanning drops mixed with my moisturizer for face. I probably won't buy this again, only because its not that different from other solutions I use.

My new go-to!

I'm someone who hates fake tanning as I unfortunately don't have the patience for precision. I usually end up a little patchy or streaky (nothing crazy but noticeable to me). As I started rubbing this in with my mitt, it felt like it glided on effortlessly and I was getting good, even coverage. 6+ hours later I have a beautiful, even tan that looks natural, but definitely a few shades darker (I did the second lay 30 minutes later as suggested. It's a dodgy around my ankles but that's on me. The only thing I would say is it's a bit sticky for my liking so I wouldn't get dressed and go as mentioned but perfect to apply in the evening, marinate over night and wash off in the morning. LOVE!!

Great color, but skill needed to apply!

This has become my favorite non-foam tanner. I've used the oil you mix in with lotion and the spray foams from this brand and others. My first few times using this were dismal. I was lazy and missed spots and used the "long" strokes that are often recommended. I got terrible splotches and missed spots. I had this with me during a month long trip otherwise I probably wouldn't have kept trying, but I'm so glad I did. First, put lotion on knees, wrists, ankles, anywhere you may accumulate too much tanner. Then spray the 3-4 sprays on one part of lower leg, then using your mitt, rub in a circular fashion from ankle to below knee. I repeat 2-3 times completing the leg. Then with remaining residue I quickly wipe the mitt on knee and feet, toes. Repeat with rest of body. It does take a solid 15 minutes for me to feel like I want to get dressed. I wear a robe I save for tanning so I don't care that it gets stained. I get the darkest non-orange color with this tanner. I am very pale and like a mellow natural looking but darker tan. My previous favorite was the St. Tropez foam that you wash off several hours later. I used to leave on 3-4 hours for darkest color. I get a nice natural medium tan (for my super pale skin) by using a generous amount of this spray oil. This product is not perfect, but none are. Downsides are the spray bottle gets slippery and hard to spray. I've come up with some techniques to work around this. Its splotchy if you don't take care with application. Not as forgiving as the foams. I also think this rubs off on clothing (waistband) and sheets, but all my tanners seem to do this. There is the classic tanner scent for the first few hours. Overall, this is a good fast to apply tanner where I won't have to shower again. Color is best the next day, and it lasts a long time. Try it!

Wish I knew it was gonna work so well...

So... Had I known this was gonna work so well, I woulda tried harder when applying it, lol. There were a few streaks and spots that I didn't think I missed. I just slapped some on my foot real quick and that was a big no no. But I'm a total newbie to self tanner, so don't judge the product based on my amateurity... I'll do better next time. I also initially thought "Ew. Gross. Sticky." But then remembered I live in a swamp and it's just the humidity. It didn't fade with the first shower, even with a solid scrub. The color is nice and the fact that I don't have to shower it off after is perfect for my crazy schedule. Overall, much more impressed than I thought I was going to be. Def a keeper.

Pleasantly surprised

Definitely not as dark as their dark & ultra dark mousses obviously, but it's darker than I expected. It's beautiful, golden, and develops quickly! I left it on overnight but I noticed it working after just 2 hours. I feel like this is a good "touch up" tanner as well as one to use on hands/feet since it's a little more forgiving in those areas. I'm not sure if I would recommend this for beginners, since it's harder to tell where you've already applied it (guide color blends in pretty quickly instead of leaving a dark guide). But if you're more familiar with tanning this is definitely worth a try.

Really natural and doesn't streak

Honestly I wasn't expecting to like this so much. But I do love a dry oil, especially in the summer.

This doesn't give a lot of color, but this gives natural color. I don't personally want to go up 4-5 shades and look unnatural. I am ok with going up 1 -2 shades. This doesn't look orange or yellow like a lot of tanners do. There is no color guard really so you can get dressed right away as soon as it's dry. It doesn't transfer. It sets in about 4-6 hours. I don't like the coconut smell, but it isn't an OTT tanner smell either. I'm ok with tanning day not smelling all that great. I guess I'd prefer coconuts to tanning BO.

In all I really like this a lot. It matches my natural tan. My feet got weird tan lines over the summer and I applied this around them and it blended in perfectly. It's the perfect combo of yellow/olive/brown.

I put this on a buffing brush to tan my hands and neck as well when needed and it never streaks or builds up unevenly.

I will repurchase. I want to try more from bondi sands. I wish they had their stuff in store.

Not terrible

I'm in the middle about this product. I bought it with intentions that it was going to give me lots of color like your typical mouse would but that's not the case. HOWEVER you do get color, just not very rich color. I personally found the best way to use this product is to prolong my self tanners. I do my typical self tan routine using St Tropez and after about the 4 or 5 day of showering I will go in with this, spray my entire body and work it in then go behind it with my moisturizer and it definitely helps keeps color for a bit longer. I am light med/ to med/dark skin tone which may have a contribution as to why I don't get much color payoff.

Better than foam imo

I have used many different self tanners because I'm a very pale person. Most of them have been foam but I decided to try this to change it up. LOVE THE SMELL. Doesn't leave a fake tan smell like other foams I have used. My only complaint is it doesn't last as long as other fake tanning products but it goes on nice and moisturizing. I also like the fact that it doesn't have a guide color because I don't have to wash it off before it looks nice. I can put it on in the morning or at night. This isn't a product you can just spray on though. It does need to be rubbed in with a tanning mitt
