Best tinted sunscreen

I'm a huge CeraVe fanatic since I have very sensitive and dry skin. I've used many tinted sunscreens - majority leave dry flaky patches on my face. I was hesitant to buy another tinted sunscreen for that reason but I'm so glad I came across this one. Makes my skin look refreshed and glowy and blends right into my skin. Can use it as a makeup base or even by itself for a "no-makeup" makeup look. The two reasons I'm giving this product 4 stars is because 1) wish it came in more shades (not suitable for darker skin tones) and 2) the bottle it comes in gets very messy over time. But overall, love this product and will be repurchasing!

Does the job

I got this awhile ago, but was never great or consistent about putting sunscreen on before leaving the house until recently. Now that I'm in my late 20's, I realized I needed to get a good skincare routine down to prevent future signs of aging and started using this on top of a Vitamin C serum and my daily moisturizer. No matter how little I put on, it leaves a white cast for a solid 15-20 minutes, and I'm fairly pale so this makes me look like a ghost. However, it does seem to sink in after that 20 min mark and does the job as I haven't burnt even without reapplication. I'm not sure if I'll get it again due to the cast it leaves, but it does work well otherwise.

Unless you are whiiiiiiiiite do not buy this!!!!!

This is by far the worst and most expensive sunscreen I have ever tried. Unless your skin is pure white and have no tattoos maybe you will like it. As a brown person with skin on the lighter end of the spectrum I don't feel I can speak for darker skinned folx but I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this product. Applying this to my skin was like applying a white wash paint. My skin looked ashy, pale and honestly creepy. In addition to this making my skin look like a corpse, it was super sticky and got on EVERYTHING. I am so disappointed and frustrated with the product. CeraVe do better please, it's 2022.

Awful!

I saw some of the bad reviews for this and thought it was just a joke, like ripping on this sunscreen was a meme or something. I'm super pale and anything tinted is too dark for me, so I don't mind a white cast - it typically helps even out my skin before makeup. I'm the kind of person that has to buy pure white foundation mixer to lighten the lightest shade of any brand. I actually expected all the complaints about this white cast for this to mean I'd like it. That being said, this sunscreen is AWFUL. It's like a really thick Elmer's glue that just goops up on your face and then dries it out. There's nothing hydrating about this. I don't understand how this is even on the market, it's absolutely terrible. There aren't words for how bad it is.

The Worst

As someone who has religiously worn sunscreen every day for the past fifteen years, this is the worst sunscreen I have ever tried. The SPF amount is alluring, and so is the price, but, believe me, it is not worth it. Despite several minutes of working this sunscreen into my face, the white cast never diminished. I'm extremely fair-skinned, and the first time I tried this sunscreen, I had to rewash my face to remove the product because it was that noticeable on the skin. If you're looking for a great sunscreen, keep shopping because this isn't it.

Disappointed

I have very fair skin and spend a lot of time out in the sun usually on the water so I need a sunscreen that works really well. I had high hopes for this one since it is a dermatologist recommended brand. I have to say that I've used it two days in a row and have been outside an average of three hours every day. After applying the sunscreen twice I still got sunburned. I have used many other mineral sunscreens because spray sunscreen stains our boat seats and this one really isn't that great. It smells weird and it rubs off on everything even after being on for a long time. It leaves a white color to your skin after applying and it's hard to wash off. I can get past some of the issues but since I got sunburned both days using it I probably won't buy it again.

Don't make the same mistake I made

I bought this sunscreen despite the less than stellar reviews because I've always really liked CeraVe products, and it came recommended from a few beauty influencers for people with oily/acne prone skin. What a mistake! This product is absolutely not worth the money, it doesn't rub in to the skin at all and leaves such a bad white cast that I looked like a victorian ghost (and I'm already pretty pale to begin with). I returned it after one use which I NEVER do because thats how bad the product was. Really disappointed with this purchase

Love the ingredients, hate the product

I have the most sensitive skin ever & have been looking everywhere for a mineral sunscreen without any fragrance, additives, oils, etc. I thought I'd risk the bad reviews because maybe I'd like it even though others didn't, since cerave is my tried and true brand and I like all of their other products. I really did not like this. I'm extremely pale and it still gave me the worst whitecast and made me look like a pasty stick of glue. And like the other reviewers said, it's extremely hard to blend out and peels off your skin if you use the slightest bit too much. Might be because it's not hydrating at all, even though it's labeled as such. I'll be returning.

BRUHH

I have a few Cera ve products and I had high hopes for this sunscreen but I was VERY disappointed. It has niacinamide which is good, but it is literally useless for redness when you have to VERY RIGOROUSLY RUB THIS IN YOUR FACE FOR IT TO EVEN LOOK HALF WAY DECENT. The white cast is horrible and it does not look good at all under makeup. It almost flakes off when you rub your face. It looks like a layer of dead skin sjebdbrjrirjnenene I'm very sad. I wanted this to work. This was my first sunscreen as I am new to the concept of daily spf. I will continue my search for the perfect sunscreen :(

If you're looking for

If you're looking for an affordable high powered, but gentle face sunscreen, the Cerave hydrating sunscreen in SPF 50 is a good option for you. Pretty much all facial sunscreens manage to break me out except for a few of them. I'm glad to say that this is one of the few that doesn't break me out. Being that this is a mineral sunscreen however, the one thing that is annoying is that it definitely gives my skin a white cast as the sunscreen doesn't completely absorb into my skin. This is a bit of a pain for sure, but it's a bit of a trade off for having a higher SPF protection level and not getting a breakout.

  • Ceramides help restore and maintain the skin's natural barrier
  • Hyaluronic acid attracts hydration to the skin's surface and helps skin retain moisture

How To Use

All sunscreens should be applied liberally for sun protection. It is essential to use any sunscreen product as directed.
