Worst sunscreen I've used!
Chose this product because I like the CeraVe facial cleansers, but instantly regretted the purchase. This sunscreen claims to be lightweight and hydrating, but it's thick and drying. It left a ridiculous white, flaky residue on my skin. I looked like a ghoul, difficult to manage given my already very pale complexion. Not wanting to waste an entire bottle of sunscreen, I tried using this on my lower arms and the backs of hands instead. Nope - just as pasty and flaky there, too. So disappointing and a complete waste of money.
Finally! A high spf sunscreen my sensitive skin accepts
I don't why so many people hate this. It is my holy grail mineral sunscreen.
I have celiac (gluten -topical or oral makes me sick and causes itchy rash). I have acne prone oily hypersensitive skin with rosecea that scars easily and hyperpigmentation.
I have wasted money on a cabinet full of sunscreens my skin can't tolerate. This sunscreen is my holy grail. It works and I can wear it on my face, neck and chest without flaring up my skin. Yay!
Pros:
1) It is fragrance free. It doesn't smell at all. I am picky - -and I noticed no smell.
2) Mineral high spf โ no irritating chemicals
3) oil free and noncomodogenic
4) it works
5) gluten free - I am celiac and get a rash and excema from topical or oral gluten
5) it doesn't make my skin burn or itch like all of the chemical sunscreens
Con:
1) yes, it leaves a whitish cast on my olive skin. Every relationship has its issues. Not a deal breaker. So, after applying, after a few minutes, I brush on some MAC Studio Fix in my usual NC20 or NC25. Yes, I am a bit shiny, but I have oily skin and am shiny 24/7 regardless. So what? Dewy glow is in.
So, this is my holy grail sunscreen. I have to wear it because I have hyperpigmentation and use trentinoin at night and The Ordinary Niacinamide everyday.
Good sunscreen if you don't want to burn!
First of all these reviews are hilarious! It is mineral sunscreen, it uses zinc oxide as the primary ingredient to avoid sunburn. It is literally the whole point of the product to create an external barrier to protect skin. It would be like rating baby oil one star because you got sunburnt ๐๐๐๐
This product works well. I am extremely sensitive to the sun and often get sun rashes. I have been applying once in the morning and heading into the sun for 6 hours without reapplying. I did get one small blotch of sun rash looking bumps.
Lastly, I am trying to figure out if there are PUFAs in this sunscreen? I can't find the answer anywhere online. Thank you in advance!
Does the job
I got this awhile ago, but was never great or consistent about putting sunscreen on before leaving the house until recently. Now that I'm in my late 20's, I realized I needed to get a good skincare routine down to prevent future signs of aging and started using this on top of a Vitamin C serum and my daily moisturizer. No matter how little I put on, it leaves a white cast for a solid 15-20 minutes, and I'm fairly pale so this makes me look like a ghost. However, it does seem to sink in after that 20 min mark and does the job as I haven't burnt even without reapplication. I'm not sure if I'll get it again due to the cast it leaves, but it does work well otherwise.
Unless you are whiiiiiiiiite do not buy this!!!!!
This is by far the worst and most expensive sunscreen I have ever tried. Unless your skin is pure white and have no tattoos maybe you will like it. As a brown person with skin on the lighter end of the spectrum I don't feel I can speak for darker skinned folx but I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding this product. Applying this to my skin was like applying a white wash paint. My skin looked ashy, pale and honestly creepy. In addition to this making my skin look like a corpse, it was super sticky and got on EVERYTHING. I am so disappointed and frustrated with the product. CeraVe do better please, it's 2022.
Awful!
I saw some of the bad reviews for this and thought it was just a joke, like ripping on this sunscreen was a meme or something. I'm super pale and anything tinted is too dark for me, so I don't mind a white cast - it typically helps even out my skin before makeup. I'm the kind of person that has to buy pure white foundation mixer to lighten the lightest shade of any brand. I actually expected all the complaints about this white cast for this to mean I'd like it. That being said, this sunscreen is AWFUL. It's like a really thick Elmer's glue that just goops up on your face and then dries it out. There's nothing hydrating about this. I don't understand how this is even on the market, it's absolutely terrible. There aren't words for how bad it is.
The Worst
As someone who has religiously worn sunscreen every day for the past fifteen years, this is the worst sunscreen I have ever tried. The SPF amount is alluring, and so is the price, but, believe me, it is not worth it. Despite several minutes of working this sunscreen into my face, the white cast never diminished. I'm extremely fair-skinned, and the first time I tried this sunscreen, I had to rewash my face to remove the product because it was that noticeable on the skin. If you're looking for a great sunscreen, keep shopping because this isn't it.
Disappointed
I have very fair skin and spend a lot of time out in the sun usually on the water so I need a sunscreen that works really well. I had high hopes for this one since it is a dermatologist recommended brand. I have to say that I've used it two days in a row and have been outside an average of three hours every day. After applying the sunscreen twice I still got sunburned. I have used many other mineral sunscreens because spray sunscreen stains our boat seats and this one really isn't that great. It smells weird and it rubs off on everything even after being on for a long time. It leaves a white color to your skin after applying and it's hard to wash off. I can get past some of the issues but since I got sunburned both days using it I probably won't buy it again.
Don't make the same mistake I made
I bought this sunscreen despite the less than stellar reviews because I've always really liked CeraVe products, and it came recommended from a few beauty influencers for people with oily/acne prone skin. What a mistake! This product is absolutely not worth the money, it doesn't rub in to the skin at all and leaves such a bad white cast that I looked like a victorian ghost (and I'm already pretty pale to begin with). I returned it after one use which I NEVER do because thats how bad the product was. Really disappointed with this purchase
Love the ingredients, hate the product
I have the most sensitive skin ever & have been looking everywhere for a mineral sunscreen without any fragrance, additives, oils, etc. I thought I'd risk the bad reviews because maybe I'd like it even though others didn't, since cerave is my tried and true brand and I like all of their other products. I really did not like this. I'm extremely pale and it still gave me the worst whitecast and made me look like a pasty stick of glue. And like the other reviewers said, it's extremely hard to blend out and peels off your skin if you use the slightest bit too much. Might be because it's not hydrating at all, even though it's labeled as such. I'll be returning.
