Watery

This stuff is a pale shadow of the former Clarins Milk Cleanser, which was nice and creamy. This cleanser has a nice scent but it's really watered down. Once again, I'm disappointed in the direction that Clarins has taken. It used to be my favorite line, but no more.

Gentle treat

Velvet Facial Milk Cleanser gently cleans my face and I love the smell. Its like a treat for me on a daily basis. I've been using Clarins products for 45 years and when I tell people I'm 70 yrs old, they are shocked. They think I'm in my 50's. Thanks Clairins for keeping me looking younger.

Miss the old formula of Alpine cleansing milk.

I had been using the herbal Alpine cleansing milk for normal to dry skin for about 30 years and am not that happy with the change to the velvet cleansing milk. It is akay but still prefer the older formula. Will use as it is still better than other brands I have tried.

Velvet Cleansing Milk

I have been using Clarins products for over 15 years.

Sorry that the the Cleansing lotion with Alpine Herbs was discontinued, but the Velvet Cleaning lotion is very good also. It has a luxurious feeling and my skin feels wonderful after using.

I didn't want a chemical exfoliant

I bought this product to use it every day, to remove my make up. I don't use a lot of makeup and still it does not remove it correctly.

BUT the main problem is that my face actually hurts. After noticing this I read the ingredients to find out it contains citric acid, so it chemically exfoliates my skin. My face feels swollen and itchy after using it. It should be clear it's ment to be an exfoliant and not a cleansing make up remover since it should not be used in eyes either. I feel decieved.

Not the same quality as 15-20 years ago

Unfortunately, Clarins products are not the same quality as 15-20 years ago. This cleanser is not as rich or velvety, and the scent is not as natural as it once was. Not good for dry skin. Will try oil cleanser before giving up.

Velvet Cleansing Milk (C's "NEW" Green Formula)

I just learned Clarins has 'reformulated' both their Cleansing Milks, DISCONTINUING both the blue-colored Alpine Herb infused one made for normal to dry skin and the pale cream-colored one, for oily to combination skin, along with their former toners. I've used the blue, normal-to-dry skin formula for 30 years. I was a teen when I discovered it. It was one of the best cleansers I've ever used, ever. So luxurious with a beautifully mild, subtle scent that's so typical in French skincare and cosmetic products. Today I tried the new (FOR ALL SKIN TYPES) Velvet formula as it's referred to; Number 1: not all skin is the same...,but I wanted to love it, so gave it a try. To say that I was disappointed is a gross understatement. The New formula is nothing like the old formulas - either one. The old formula would melt into your skin, leaving no visible residue, instead, it actually gave you a bit of a glow and it actually acted as a barrier to the elements. You could leave it on all day, even wear it as a primer tor in lieu of a moisturizer. It had a delicate dewy finish. You didn't have to rinse it off if you didn't want to. In contrast, the new formula leaves a white paste on your face as you massage it in. It MUST be rinsed off. It doesn't penetrate the skin as (both) the old formulas did, it sits on top, nor is it as emollient. It feels like your average synthetic drugstore cleanser and it' actually feels drying and tacky to the touch, until rinsed off. I left it on for a few minutes to see if it would improve. Instead, I could feel it tightening and drying on my skin. It's not soothing, it was uncomfortable. In addition, the scent does not compare to the former. It's just, well, nothing special. I have been a huge Clarins fan practically all my life and so today is a sad day for me. I will no longer be purchasing Clarin's cleansers and I definitely would not recommend this product. If you haven't tried the old formulas, you might not find this product so bad, after all, you don't know what you're missing!

Clarins Velvet Cleansing Milk to the rescue!!🤗

This cleansing milk is magical! My skin was looking old, hard and dried out, but after using Clarins Velvet Cleansing Milk, it is soft and supple and beautiful again! Thanks, Clarins!! I LOVE this product! ❤️

Miss the old one

I used the green cleaning milk for over 15 years and this one is not as good. It also has a stronger scent- which is not reco'd anymore by my dermatologist. And as a migraine sufferer I can't use it. Sensitivity to smells is a trigger for us migraineurs- 4 out of 5 being women- clarins should take note.

disappointed with new cleansing milk

I had been using the old cleansing milk for more than 20 years. It was a favorite of mine. The new cleansing milk has a strong smell that lingers a very long time. Even after rinsing several times, the scent remains. I have a sensitivity to strong scents, so I will not be able to use this product.

Beautiful skin.

I adore this cleansing milk,I used to use the green alpine herbs one and do miss that especially the scent. This velvet milk is also nice which I use at night as using the hydrating or sensitive face was during the day but tbh, this will do both day and night which once I use up my other cleansers will just stick with this as you can use for removing makeup, eye makeup and a cleanser all in one. I am almost 53 and my skin loves clarins even though more expensive than drugstore you are using nature's gems plants.

Younger looking. ..and I know it!

I've used the cleasing milk for 30 + years. It's gentle but, effective. It doesn't leave ur skin dull ...just glowing. I'm often asked what skincare I use. At 65 I'm still asked about my daughter...who is often my granddaughter. My daughter rolls her eyes when I tell them I MeMe not Mom.

Perfect lightweight in-shower facial cleanser

I just learned I've been using this wrong for months (oops), but it works well for me so I don't care. I was gifted 2 samples which don't come with instructions, so I assumed it was a face wash. Works great as an everyday wash for my oily skin- I use it with a silicone scrubber. This is perfect for days between breakouts.

Not equal to Alpine

I used to use the Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs (green bottle) but switched to this since the other is no longer available. This product does not rinse off as well. There are certain Clarins products that should remain the same, that's part of the reason I like Clarins. I am hoping the Beauty Flash Balm is not different from the old formula.

Not the same Clarins quality

I've been using Clarins for 30 years and I am disappointed that they discontinued the Alpine Herbs cleansing milk that was simply wonderful. This product breaks my skin out. I've never had as many breakouts but this product is the reason. I hope Clarins is not compromising its high standards and hope they will discontinue this product.

Miss Alpine Herbs and Extra-Comfort Toner !!!!

I wanted to give this a fair trial before I submitted a review. I am 61 years old and since my college days, have been using the Alpine Herbs Cleansing Lotion along with the Extra-Comfort Toning Lotion. I have loved this regimen for many years. The Velvet Cleansing Milk is not a substitute. My skin broke out and I was left with an uncomfortable residue. I also tried Hydrating Toning Lotion which also did not receive my vote of approval. It has a bitter smell and did not leave my skin feeling "hydrated." I never thought a skin care regimen would have such an impact on my daily life. Would give anything to have Alpine Herbs Cleansing Lotion and Extra-Comfort Toning Lotion back!!

Unsatisfactory Replacement for C M w/ A H

I tried this product when it first became available, as Clarins was replacing it for their Cleansing Milk w/ Alpine Herbs. Let me tell you, IT DOES NOT COMPARE. I did not like the texture of the product nor did I like the results. My skin did not look refreshed, calmed, moisturized and smoothed as it did with the Alpine Herbs cleansing milk. But instead, it look somewhat dull and irritated. I also didn't like the updated versions of their toner. Clarins has been my "go to" for DECADES for my sensitive and dry skin. I have been using their cleansing milks ever since i was in high school. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY KEEP CHANGING OR DISCONTINUING PRODUCTS that hundreds of thousands of customers have been loyal to for years. Even if they want to market something new, they should at least maintain and produce original formulas for sale online. CLARINS, if you are listening PLEASE BRING BACK YOUR ORIGINAL FORMULA CLEANSING MILKS!!! If you don't want to ship them to stores, at least make them available online!!!!

Bring back Alpine Herbs Cleanser

I absolutely Love Clarins and have used their products for over 30 years, but I am completely disappointed with its replacement! My skin doesn't feel as smooth after using and it has a tight feeling to it. Even after using the gentle facial peel there is no comparison. I'm afraid I'm going to be forced to look for another brand that gives my face that quench it deserves. Please bring back the old version!

Unimpressed

I got deluxe travel size bottle of this new cleansing milk in a GWP recently. It's a decent cleanser but it's thicker and more emollient than the Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs that it has replaced. It left a bit of a film on my skin after rinsing, I suppose it would work for the winter months when additional moisture is helpful. This cleanser is certainly no replacement for the Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs that I have used on and off for over thirty years. Why discontinue something that had such a long track record of satisfied customers? I have T-zone oil and I notice that you no longer offer any cleansing milk for oily skins. Do people with oily or combination skins no longer matter in the Clarins world? Having sold luxury skin care since 1987, I would never suggest the Velvet Cleansing Milk to a combination or oily skin type. The Cleansing Milk with Gentian was a beautiful product, so sad to see you drop it from your range of cleansers. These numerous discontinuations will just drive people away from your brand.
