Clarins Velvet Hydrating Cleansing Milk 3-stars Reviews
Unimpressed
I got deluxe travel size bottle of this new cleansing milk in a GWP recently. It's a decent cleanser but it's thicker and more emollient than the Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs that it has replaced. It left a bit of a film on my skin after rinsing, I suppose it would work for the winter months when additional moisture is helpful. This cleanser is certainly no replacement for the Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs that I have used on and off for over thirty years. Why discontinue something that had such a long track record of satisfied customers? I have T-zone oil and I notice that you no longer offer any cleansing milk for oily skins. Do people with oily or combination skins no longer matter in the Clarins world? Having sold luxury skin care since 1987, I would never suggest the Velvet Cleansing Milk to a combination or oily skin type. The Cleansing Milk with Gentian was a beautiful product, so sad to see you drop it from your range of cleansers. These numerous discontinuations will just drive people away from your brand.
I preferred the old version
I had to get new Clarins products for the first time in probably a year and my mega-bottle of cleansing milk for normal-to-dry skin (the green one) had run out. This new formulation was all that was available. It is OK, but I preferred the other version better. This one seems thicker on my skin and doesn't wipe off as easily. I have to be careful not to squirt out too much because of this. I also don't particularly like the fragrance. I am a Clarins devotee (for 35 years) and will keep using it, but I am a bit sad that the other product is no longer available.
just a cleanser
So, like the toner I put this into my routine (for as much as the bottle would allow). I didn't see any result positive or negative. It was gentle on my skin and left me feeling clean, but not necessarily on par with my favorite cleansers for my oily skin. I'm unfamiliar with the price point but I don't think I'll be making the switch to this product regardless.
good product but could be better
I liked this product that doesn't leave residues and grassy on the skin, but I really needed a good quantify of product to remove my makeup, and even applying a lot it still left some make up on my skin.
It was okay
I liked this cleanser, but I didn't think it was anything special. I tend to like cleansers that turn into a foam or cream consistency and this one stays the same milky texture. I felt like it took a lot to cover my whole face as well.
not a fan
It's ok... I'm someone who likes a little lather and some tingling in my facial washes. The scent was alright and it just didn't feel like I was getting an effective clean. My face didn't feel dried out which is good, but this cleanser wasn't for me.
I don't know about this
I am a little indifferent about this. I wanted to like it but I think it takes too much work to take my makeup off. For reference, I don't wear heavy makeup and/or waterproof anything. It is suggested to use the cleaning milk 7 times to remove all makeup which I thought was a bit much. I tried it 7x and it did work but 7 times? Come on... who has time for that? haha I double cleanse normally and that's enough for me.
Creamy and Lightweight
I can honestly say this cleansing milk felt velvety and creamy and left my face feeling moisturized refreshing and soft. However I would consider this to be more of a precleanse. If your looking for something that melts your makeup away, this isn't it. It took me many washes to truly feel cleanse. I don't wear heavy makeup so I thought this would be perfect but it didn't do much with removing a light layer of makeup.
Just okay
Cleansing milks are not my favorite cleansing products. they feel too gentle for my preference. if you are looking for a super gentle product to cleanse with you will love this. I enjoy that it does not dry out your skin but prefer a more cleaning experience.
ehh
I don't really feel like it cleanses my face but it does moisturize it. It smooth out really good and you don't have to use a lot which is something that I look for. It's a gentle product, didn't feel harsh at all!
Feels nice but not sure how well it works.
I liked this cleanser just okay. I loved the way it felt while I was cleansing but I don't think it cleansed well enough. Afterward I used the Clarins toner (which I love) and there was still a fair bit of grime on my cotton pad.
creamy silky cleanser
This cleanser is extremely soft to the touch and feels very good and moisturizing on my skin. I think I would like this product if I didn't have such sensitive skin for acne. This didn't irritate my skin although I feel like it may have made me get clogged pores. I'm usually very conscientious of the cleansers that I'm using and this wasn't for me. Although I love other Clairns products!! If you have mature skin or not as sensitive skin, I would recommend trying this product.
very interesting
After reading the directions a few times, i think used it correctly. Im used to my normal cleanser so this took getting use too. After using my skin felt smooth with a condition feeling. I would def use again.
Hmmm
I'm not sure how I feel about this, so I guess I'm indifferent about it. The product was interesting and it has a nice smell. My issue with this cleanser is that it left my skin feeling so oily! It was something unexpected and wasn't a fan of it. I appreciate that it's not thick and still it's more of an "oil" type cleanser. I see what it's meant to do, but it just wasn't for me.
not terrible
This product I feel like would be hit or miss depending on your skin type, I have extremely dry skin in the winter and this was just not doing it for me on the moisture aspect. However, if I use it on the summer or fall I feel like I would appreciate it more for what it is!
We could've been soulmates...
OMG. Where do I start?! I used this velvet milk cleanser for a few days. I fell in love at first. It feels wonderful on my skin and really is velvety. I continued to use it and even put it on my list to purchase a full size. And then my dreams were shattered. It made me soooo oily!!! I definitely recommend this to people with dry skin.
Creamy and moisturizing
This feels more like a lotion than a cleanser. The instructions of use say to warm it between hands and smooth over face from the center outwards as quickly as possible to suction away impurities. I felt like I couldn't do it properly. And though it says you don't have to rinse it away, I felt odd only tissuing it off, so I rinsed. I felt like it left a residue I couldn't get off. Overall I felt like it moisturized well, but didn't leave a clean feeling. My skin felt soft and velvety after using it, though. Maybe after the learning curve and getting used to it I would feel more comfortable using it.
left my skin feeling clean
This product left my skin feeling nice, clean, and soft. It had a nice smell and was lightweight and didn't leave my skin feeling greasy. I did notice an increase in blackheads after I started using this product but it's hard to say if there was a direct relation. Overall a nice product though.
It's okay
This lotion smells very strongly of fragrance. I'm not a huge fan of fragrance in skincare, sometimes my skin is super sensitive when it comes to fragrance. It did an okay job of hydrating my face, but it wasn't anything special.
cleanser
I didn't feel like this product cleaned my face nor removed my makeup like it claimed to do. It did help my dry skin, but left it with a very tight feeling. There was a very light smell which wasn't good nor bad. I think I will stick to my normal skin routine.
