ColourPop Long-Lasting Brow Pencil Reviews
Great cool-toned pencil with HORRIBLE packaging
The ash brown color is literally the only eyebrow pencil I have tried that stays ashy on me. Other "ash" colors look too warm, either right away or over time. As other reviewers have said, this is the best cool brown eyebrow pencil color out there, but the overall quality of this product is just terrible. The packaging is literally the worst I have ever encountered. I have bought a dozen of these ash brown ColourPop pencils over the past few years and every single pencil has had one or all of these things happen: 1) The pencil breaks off with very minimal pressure. 2) The retractable turning part fails so it won't hold the pencil out anymore, making the remaining product stuck inside and totally unusable. 3) The spoolie end breaks off with the clear cap stuck on it. This is so common that I now just immediately throw away the clear cap to try to keep the spoolie attached longer. ColourPop, PLEASE FIX THIS! In the meantime, if anyone has suggestions for a true cool-toned ash brown eyebrow pencil, hit me up!
colourpop plz fix this!
the ash brown color is the best cool tone brown out there. and i love how fine the tip is. I have been using this for at least 5 years and so has my mother and cousin in the same shade we all love it EXCEPT it breaks so quickly. I have opened a brand new pencil straight out of the box just for the crayon itself to just fall out of thte packaging and this has happened MULTIPLE times. i see im not alone in the other reviews with this issue. yes the twisting mechanism tends to break too so you run out of the makeup far too quick. ive tried so many other pencils but this color is just the best. Colourpop please fix this!
No longer a favorite
This pencil used to be my go-to for eyebrows, but they changed the formula and packing. The container breaks so easily, the spoolie end flys off when trying to remove the cap, and the actual product breaks under the slightest amount of pressure. Not to mention that you have to constantly fight for it to stay in place after twisting it up, as it will just fall down the tube constantly while you are trying to use it. I thought I had just gotten one bad one and bought another and has the same problems! Not a fan anymore, there are other brow pencils at the same price point that work way better.
Used to LOVE
I used to LOVE this brow pencil. It is one of the only brands that I feel has the perfect auburn shade that matched my natural gingery auburn hair. The color is still great, but the formula must have changed because it wipes off super easily and the product constantly breaks.
Not even just breaks, you open the cap and the WHOLE pencil product comes flying out and then you have to find it and pick it up and put it back in. Every. Single. Time.
I have bought 3 at separate times and from both here and their actual website, thinking it was just a bad batch. But nope, still does it. It never used to do this, I am so bummed. Perfect color match and super affordable but not when you lose the product like this.
Best brow pencil ever
Cant believe it took me so long to try this, over the years I spent so much money on all types of brow pencils and I never stuck with one, till I tried this. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. The formula is not too soft, not too hard, it literally is so long lasting too. Usually by the end of the day the tail of my brows would be smudged off with different brands whether it was highend or lowend, but with this my brows stayed put with the parts that i drew in. Plus not to mention the color taupe is PERFECTION. Its the perfect ash blonde/brown shade. If this product stays exactly as is, i'm gonna repurchase it forever.
Meh
I'm usually really pleased by Colourpop products, and I've bought a brow pencil from them several years back and didn't have an issue. But this product breaks so easily. The liner itself wouldn't come out of the pencil unless I shook it to the opening, which caused too much to come out, and it wouldn't retract. So I used this product twice and ran out of product on the second use due to the entire stick of liner breaking off and falling out. Otherwise a decent product when it comes to color and formula. I've noticed their lip liners have a simlar issue of falling into and getting stuck inside the pencil. Don't know what the deal is with that. Going to have to refund.
I want to love it
I tried so hard to love this product, but it just falls short. It is a nice alternative to Benefit's Precisely My Brow, HOWEVER, the packaging is so cheap that I'm either picking up the product off the floor and trying to resurrect it or rolling it up over and over again, because the product constantly sinks back into the packaging. It runs out about twice as fast as the Benefit pencil -I color-in/shape my brows almost every day and it lasts about a month. About half of the time the spooly breaks off, rendering it useless. I end up throwing away the caps because they, too, crack. The color stays on fairly well, surprisingly -even with light swimming, so long you don't touch your brows. Overall, I think I'm going to find something new.
I am a natural blonde
I am a natural blonde with highlights. I have always done my eyebrows with an angled brush and a pomade or powder, while that gave me precise lines, it was time consuming. i decided to switch to this brow pencil and im never looking back! i have already bought a second one in case i run out! this has made my eyebrow process much quicker, and easier, while also making the shade of my brows consistent. I recommend using this with a brow wax! The warm brown color is very suitable for anyone with dirty blonde-blonde hair!
So happy I bought this!
I picked this up while in Ulta the other day and I couldn't be happier! I was planning on picking up a new benefit precisely my brow pencil in 2.75 during the fall sale but I'm so glad I got this instead. So much more affordable and the color is the exact same. I would say I prefer this formula surprisingly though over the benefit because it doesn't clump up as much as the benefit. It's not as creamy which I prefer because it looks more natural. Definitely impressed and will continue to repurchase.
Great brow gel
Not sure why it's only rated 3.8…. This is the best brow gel for me as far as ingredients go. I'm a Black woman so I'm very particular about products. It has jojoba oil and the texture looks like a conditioner for your brows. I actually use it on top of the ordinary's brow serum and it lasts all day and never flakes. I don't wear makeup every day, just lashes and brows so it's nice that I don't even have to fill my brows in.. the gel makes them look so neat and shaped. I hope they never stop making this.
Will have to stop purchasing due to the awful packaging
This used to be my go-to brow product; I loved how the ash brown was actually ashy! But the last two pencils I bought, the product literally FELL out of the pencil when I turned it upside down to use the spoolie and it fell into the wet sink, completely ruining the product. Nothing holds the product inside the pencil anymore. This never used to happen when it was marketed under the name "Brow Boss", so it is obvious that Colourpop is cheaping out on the packaging. It's a shame because I really love the color, but if I can't use the pencil without the product literally falling out, I can't keep buying it. There's too many brow pencils like this on the market for this to be acceptable. I will be switching to something else.
Not a light enough blonde
The product itself was nice, I would definitely recommend it. It was easy to use and it didn't look really obvious that I had eyebrow product on. My only problem was that it was too dark for me. I bought the lightest shade, but it was still a little too dark for my face. My hope was for it to make my eyebrows look a little bit fuller, not darker. I am a very pale person with naturally light blonde hair, so it's tough to find light enough eyebrow products. It wasn't horribly ridiculously dark, but unless I have full on glam make up with darker eyeshadow then it makes my eyebrows look kinda funny and out of place.
it keeps my brows in place, but it isn't clear :(
this gel does a wonderful job of keeping my brows set all throughout the day, i've never had issues with them falling out of place. the only issue is that, although it says it's clear, it's most certainly not. it's a bright white color on the wand and when applying it, it leaves white streaks on the brow. it was never much of an issue for me, as i just wipe it off while keeping my brows where i gelled them. it comes clean off with a finger (i've not tried it with a tissue or anything like that, but i'm sure it works just as well). other than the white, and not at all clear color, it works perfectly fine!! i love it! :)
Okay Brow Gel
For starters, I have combination skin type with peachy undertone-brown skin.
I've religiously been using Anastasia's tinted brow gel for quite some time. I decided to try out Colourpop because it's price point, but the quality just isn't it for me. I like the color and pigment, the dark brown looks lighter than you'd imagined, but it definitely applies on consistent and as advertised. The consistency gives an oily texture and this is the part I didn't like. It's oily to the point that when I use my brow pencil afterwards, it doesn't show up, almost like the brow gel has created it's own barrier over my eyebrow/or parts of, and the pencil doesn't stick. The brow pencil is something I've been using for many years so this is a first that it reacts like this with the brow gel. The Anastasia brow gel on the other hand dries rather than being an oily base, and allows my brow pencil to draw over it and it sticks rather than ends up gliding.
Formula changed!
I used to use this product religiously, but now I'll have to find something new. I just bought a new pencil to replace my old one from a few months ago, and this is almost an entirely different product. This is rock solid. I can barely draw or fill anything in without having to scratch myself with the pencil. Using this pencil hurts my face- seriously. Not to mention that the product broke immediately after opening it. I would recommend everyone steer clear of this. Such a bummer. FYI- I purchased the shade soft black.
The best brow pencil I've had but
I always get compliments on my brows and sometimes people will ask what I use. I've been using this brow pencil with the brow gel for over a year now, and it is literally the best pencil I've had BUT you have to be careful with it because it does break easily, especially if you drop it, and the spooly will fall out easily as well. That is the only reason I knocked down a star. And for those saying that you have to press hard to use it, its probably because the skin needs to be moisturized for the pencil to actually glide easily and work well. I only know this because there have been times where all I do is try to draw my eyebrows real quick and it won't work if my face is too dry, if that makes sense? Anyways, it is definitely better than buying ABH, which is what I used to get
My favorite brow makeup
Now, granted I haven't delved too far into the higher priced brow makeups, but of the ones I've tried, this is easily my favorite. It lasts me all day, even in the humid NC weather. And still needs to be removed with makeup remover at night. That staying power is awesome in my book. It's one of the first things I apply. I am blessed with natural brows that are pretty nice, so it probably wouldn't be beneficial to those with different natural brows they are hoping to make appear larger, but it does work for hiding a few of my stray "sparkles" that have made their way into my brow.
Don't wast your money
I was excited to try this since I like other products I have tried from this brand, but I was so disappointed. Every time I went to apply this, the product would go back in the pencil and I would have to twist it back up again. I was not even pressing hard and it was not pigmented. After maybe two days of using it, the product fell out of the pencil completely. I also noticed that the name wore off of the product as well, and I only had it for about 5 days. I am wondering if I got a defective one based on reviews, but I'm very disappointed.
Only brow pencil I'll ever use
This pencil in taupe is the only brow pencil I've used the past 3 years, and the only one I'll ever use (please never stop making it!). I've received multiple compliments from strangers on my eyebrows, and trust me--my natural eyebrows aren't impressive, so it's definitely this pencil doing the magic. I have blonde hair and fair skin, and I find blonde shades (including Colourpops') to be too orange-y, and taupe shades of other brands to be too dark. But Colourpop's taupe is the PERFECT shade, and the formula of this pencil is buildable so you can easily customize intensity/final shade.
Usable, but not great
Pros: It's dual ended and there is a great color selection.
Cons: It's way too firm. Now, we know a soft brow pencil can be a problem, but this pencil is the opposite. It's so hard that it doesn't transfer product onto the face easily. This also means that you can't put any type of gel in the brow before using it, because the pencil is to firm to deposit product between gelled hairs. Additionally, the packaging is cheap. The cap of mine cracked even though it mainly sits my make-up basket. I usually use the maybelline slim pencil and have never had this problem before. I literally only use this when I run out of my main pencils because it's so fussy.
