Burned my cheek

Just got this and have only used for a few days. Was hoping to add an oil cleanser into my routine but it for sure will not be this one. Been using at night, and the morning after the first use i noticed a slighlt red and patchy spot on the side of my face. Didnt want to place the blame on this cleaser right away but after a few more days of use it only got worse. It feels almost like a chemical burn that even just plain water aggravates it and stings. Ive stopped using it and after just a day it is starting to lighten up. 0/10 for me.

Not for eczema sufferers

A YouTuber recommended this cleansing oil so I thought I would it a try. This is a little more expensive than my other cleansing oil so I thought it would become a favorite. After a few uses to take off my waterproof eye makeup I started having eczema flare up around my eyes. I didn't connect it with this oil because it was Fall season and it's possible that pollen and allergies would cause the flare up. The skin around my eyes would be red and the skin barrier was destroyed. Applying moisturizer would sting and I woke up with puffy eyes like I've been in a boxing match. I stopped using the oil and my skin started healing. I looked up the ingredients to this comparing it to my other oil and the one big difference is olive oil. I then found out that olive oil is the worst thing to apply on skin for those with eczema. Who knew? It's better to use coconut oil instead. Change your ingredient to coconut oil.

Save your buck!

I really wanted to love this. Heard so many people raving about this product on tiktok, youtube, etc. I have normal/combo skin, and this did not work well. The biggest thing, it caused a breakout on my face. I have it two weeks, maybe my skin needed to get used to it. But nothing, my skin just got worst. Milia (tiny bumps on your face) also started surfacing once I started using this product. Not to mention, it look a solid 10 minutes to completely get my makeup off with this product. It stung my eyes, and was incredibly hard to work with. It also left my skin feeling stiff. I'm still looking for a good oil cleanser in my double cleaning routine, but trust me when I want to say steer away from this. You're better off using a better (and affordable) cleansing balm from the inky list. I'm going to be returning this.

Dupe or Fake

DHC is a Japanese company and as for someone who discovered this product originally in Japan and purchased first time in Japan, this is not a genuine product at all.

First, the consistency is so watery that you will require 3 pumps just to remove the make-up on your skin while the original will require only one and has thicker formula.

Second, after 3 pumps it will remove the foundation on your face but not your mascara and eye liner which is not true for a genuine DHC product. I finished 2 big bottles before and did not encounter problems like this one.

Made me Breakout

At first I heard that this product was amazing and that I should 100% use it. I don't normally use much makeup, but it thought that I might as well try it since people said it helps clear your skin and all that. At first I definitely felt all the plugs in my pores coming out. I got really excited! Was this the product that would finally clear up my skin? I tried it for a month, but for some reason I started to break out on my cheeks for the first time ever! My forehead and nose are the only places that have ever had acne before.. So why was there something on my cheeks!? I tried to ignore it and continued using it, but it kept getting worse on my cheeks. I thought about all the reasons that this could've happened. Maybe it was my diet? I'm a pescatarian and I've been like that for many years. I made no changes in the way I ate. So I knew it had to be this oil cleanser.

As of now, I still have cheek acne all thanks to this product. Sure it does its job with the removing makeup, but it most definitely didn't help with my skin condition.

If you have oily skin, then don't try this product. It's not worth it especially if you already have acne.

wow...

I do not usually write reviews but I feel like I had to for this.. this is honestly great at removing makeup and it doesn't sting my eyes. BUT WOW the cystic acne I had after only using this two times is astonishing. I have never suffered from true painful cystic acne until I used this. My skin is not super sensitive and I don't usually have acne unless it's hormonal. I have normal to dry skin. This oil, plus having to wear masks everyday, absolutely destroyed my skin. I haven't used it in about a week and a half and my acne is no where near gone.

Blackheads in a bottle

I really wanted to love this! I had heard such amazing things, so I bought the travel size to try it as the first cleanser in a nightly double cleanse (followed by CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser) and twice a week for OCM. At first, it seemed to work great—my skin didn't overreact to it, it doesn't have a lingering smell, and it made my skin so soft! Then I started noticing a few more closed comedones, but wrote it off as stress/poor diet. Then I started noticing a LOT more blackheads, and more cysts. As a test, I switched to a different oil cleanser for a week, and even in that short span of time, my skin improved, so the remainder of the DHC is going in the trash.

Not good for oily/ acne prone skin

I always had very minimal acne before my skin got messed up from using this product. I originally bought this product because I wanted to try out oil cleansing. I didn't know much about oil cleansing when I purchased it but I soon found out that this product is not suitable for oily skin/ acne prone skin. At first I thought it was working for me but in about 2 weeks I started to get small bumps around my face. After continued use my pores got even more clogged and they quickly became very inflamed. Moral of the story: do your research before you buy skin care, in this case, make sure the oil is suitable for your skin type.

Horrible for your skin

I started using this product this summer since I wanted to start double cleansing. It does takes your blackheads out, so at first I was happy with it. However, it strips the rest of your skin too. I've always struggled with minor hormonal acne (1-2 pimples a month) but aside from that my skin was generally nice and not sensitive. I used to have clear glowing skin that looked good without foundation. But this DHC oil RUINED my skin. All summer, my face has been dry, flaky, sensitive, irritated, dull, and worst of all, I broke out in cystic acne all over my cheeks and chin. I had to start wearing foundation to cover it, which obviously only made it worse.

At first I thought maybe this was due to the stress of working 60 hour weeks during the pandemic, but for 3 months things kept getting worse. I finally removed this oil from my cleansing regimen at the advice of my dermatologist and my skin is already SO much better. The acne it caused will take another month to clear and will probably scar, but my texture is already back to its old baby smoothness, and my face doesn't feel irritated all the time anymore. All I use is a gentle face wash now - sometimes less is more. Please learn from my mistakes and be gentle to your skin.

The one saving grace of this oil is that it's great for cleaning makeup brushes. But it's basically olive oil so I would not recommend using it on your face.

allergic reaction

I really wanted to like this. I had seen things online about oil cleansing for oily skin and I thought I would give it a shot. A lot of people recommended this product so I thought "why not!". I tried it. After a few days I noticed what looked almost like a crazy breakout across my face. I had done a 20 min oil cleanse two days earlier followed by a foaming cleanser. Turns out, something in this oil is giving me an allergic reaction on my face. My skin feels dry and tight as well. No fault of the product, there's just something in here that my skin doesn't like. I have no known previous allergies so I'm not sure what it is. Spot testing also didn't reveal this reaction.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING

I saw that this has such a high rating and have been wanting to try a cleansing oil for my double cleanse at night. At first it felt really nice and emulsified really well, but after about a week of use my skin FREAKED out. My skin has been pretty clear before using this with only a few small bumps every so often. However, I am 22 and I have honestly not had a breakout this bad since high school. I have bumps all along my jawline and huge swollen pimples on my cheeks. This product is derived from mostly olive oil which can be really contesting for people who are acne prone so I would look for something else with linoleic acid. If you have really dry skin that is not acne prone, maybe it will work for you, but otherwise I would not risk it! Hope this helps!

NOT for the acne prone!

This gave me cystic acne! I wanted to try oil cleansing after watching labeautyologist's videos on the topic, so gave this product a try as it was one of the highest rated oil cleansers I could find. I was experiencing very mild breakouts when I began using this, but within two weeks, my cheeks were covered in cystic pimples (which I NEVER get, especially on my cheeks). Initially, I thought it was purging, but after looking more into it I realized it was just my skin telling me this is a no-go for me. I do have more oily, acne prone skin, but everything I read told me this would be safe. A month later, I'm still working on clearing up the mess that this made on my face.

Skin No Likey

I was excited to give this a go, I have combination skin that isn't exactly acne prone, but I have large pores and they always look like stuff is in them but nothing really ever comes out except the sides of my nose. I thought an oil cleanser would get down deep and dissolve all that, woof I was wrong ! It dissolved the rest of my face though ! My skin has never been more red or more dry, like it HURTS when I smile. I feel like my face is going to crack and I have tiny bumps everywhere. Straight up allergic to something in this. This is the only thing I changed in my routine and so I know it's the culprit. Saddening, I'm just glad it was cheap. I'm actually hoping to take it back for a refund.

Not for everyone

My skin has looked really good but I wanted to get it a little more even because I have small bumps...they're not that visible and I thought I would try this because of the great reviews, but it made my skin so much worse. I don't break out at all, this broke me out and gave me a lot more uneven skin. It's the only thing I've changed in my routine in a really long time. I didn't give up, I tried this for a month, hoping it was just getting worse before it got better, but it never did. I'm still trying to reverse the damage and it's been almost 2 months since I've stopped. I think some of the ingredients in this clogs pores. I'm pretty disappointed it didn't work out. Just be careful.

Terrible

I literally wish I could give this 0 stars. I wanted to like this product because I've heard nothing but great things about it. However after using it for about a week or two I broke out in tiny red bumps all over my face. I know it was form this face wash because it is the only thing that I changed for my skin. I don't think I've ever broken out so bad from a cleanser before. I have sensitive oily skin and this was terrible for my skin. I believe it clogged my pores. My skin was fine before this but I wanted to try something new because my old face wash has bad ingredients. I'm hoping my skin will return to normal.
