DHC Travel Size Deep Cleansing Oil Reviews
Holy Grail
I got a sample of this oil and let it lay around for about a year, before ever using it. Since, then I have tried several cleansing oils, and nothing, and I mean nothing compares to this cleansing oil. It takes off hard to remove zinc sunscreen, and Dermablend, without pulling at my skin. I have used it now, since I was 41 and am now turning 60, and if I could only have one skin product, this would be the one. Leaves my skin, makeup free, and never tight or dry. It lasts for months, so the price is well worth it to me. I could be the 60 year old spokes person for this product. I recommend it to anyone of any age. It is my holy grail of skin care products.
I've been using this product since 2002
I usually like experimenting around with skin and hair care products, but since being introduced to Deep Cleansing Oil via a sample that arrived randomly in the mail in 2002, I've been a dedicated user. I can't say that about any other product I've ever tried. It cleans my skin more thoroughly than any other product I've used, leaving no trace of makeup residue, and my skin feels completely moist and supple. I'm 65 years old and I frequently receive compliments on how young my skin looks, and that's in spite of being very fair skinned and having some damage due to sun exposure as a child.
Love travel size, but not container.
I have used Deep Cleansing Oil for years and have always had the travel size to take with me on my frequent business travel trips. I recently bought this travel sized container as a replacement (my other squirt bottle finally wore out!)--disappointed, not in the product, but in the bottle. Very hard to shake the product out--the old squirt bottle was so much easier. And I could refill it from my regular sized bottle at home--frequent travel calls for occasional refilling! Please bring the squirt bottle back to travel size!!
Where do I begin I loove
For the people complaining it didn't work A. they got water in the oil B. opened there eyes while rubbing the oil in (which is the dumbest thing I read, which I think you need a bad review for my working properly 😅 anyway ) c. didn't actually massaged face with the oil to melt makeup off. What I say about this? I love it I hated wearing heavy makeup because I would have to remove it later as in 5 wipes later then carefully cleaning my eye line and eyelids and blah blah you get the point! I literally do two pumps massage on my face and lashes then rinse>>>> get this in the Shower!!! I come out face is so clean, I was alittle hectic first so I grabbed a wipe and OMG!!!!!!! No makeup, none, zero, nada whole my money🙌🙌🙌🙌
LOVE - best cleanser ever
Have been using this cleansing oil for years, and I love it! Have tried many others along the way, and none of them come close, not even the pricey fancy name oils. DHC is light, gentle, and leaves my skin really soft. I use it year round, even during the summer in the South. Removes all my makeup (although I do need a waterproof mascara remover if I wear that). Rinses clean and doesn't leave a residue. Doesn't cause breakouts, as you might think an oil would HIGHLY recommend this product.
Love!!!
I have used this off and on for a couple of years, I scooped up when I could get for 50% (no brainer). Anyhoo, what I love is that it breaks everything up, I'm talking my matte lippies that ultimatelu feel like they will never come off. One pump and its my first layer of cleansing. Leaves my skin feeling plump and hydrated. I usually like to follow up with a second cleanser just to make sure I am removing all impurities. Does a fantastic job at removing all makeup. This is my go to in the dry winter months too..
Better late than never
I'm 58 and started using this only a couple years ago. I always assumed it would leave an oily residue and cause breakouts. Not true! The trick is using wet hands after first massaging onto dry skin. The 2nd massage with wet hands emulsifiers the oil to rinse off completely. Deep cleansing is an accurate description: some nasty stuff was dislodged from my pores initially. Now, my other skincare products work much better on a clean canvas. Too bad it took so long to learn the proper cleansing method!
The best oil-based makeup remover on the market
Years ago when I was looking for an olive oil based makeup remover, I tried this and liked it. I then found a more economical source. That source closed their company and I can't get their oil anymore, so I started looking around again and rediscovered this oil. I love it! It works just as I want, clearing all makeup thoroughly and leaving my skin soft. I follow with another night time oil, as I've been doing for over a decade, and I believe that's a big reason I have so few wrinkles and am told I look 15-20 years younger.
Nice
I like to use this to remove my eye makeup or mascara. As for face makeup, it doesn't really remove face makeup.I only use one pump to remove all of my makeup. I always use a cotton ball and micellar water after I use this to remove my makeup, and there is always a little bit of makeup left over unlike my Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil (my favorite). I only got this during the 21 days of beauty. I would buy it again, but only if it's half off. It's better than drugstore cleansing oil, but not better than Clinique's Cleansing Oil or Clinique's Cleansing Balm. Clinique's oil and balm literally leaves no trace of makeup. Also, only use this on a dry face. It won't work if you have any water on your face or hands.
Easiest/best makeup remover
Wow I've only used 3x but after first use was amazed how well my makeup washed off and I wasnt left looking like a raccoon and having to do extra cleanup just for my eye makeup; this does it all! I've used make wipes, miscellar water has been my go to but I still had to use q-tips to clean my eye makeup. I wear full face of makeup and only use 1 or 2 pumps and still get a great clean even though bottle bottle says 2-3 pumps and I don't have to use a washcloth or cotton pads or materials to remove anything, this oil does it all! I accidentally wetted my face out of habit and scrubbed for 30 seconds as directed it still worked as well as applying to dry face as directed. I will most likely not get any other kind of makeup remover. It is pricy but a time saver and worth every pump! Thank you!
My favorite oil cleanser!
This product is a favorite for a reason! My only complaint is that it's kind of pricey, so I try to buy it on sale.
If you're not used to oil cleansers you might not like this, but personally I love it. The olive oil scent is light and pleasant, and it really feels like I'm treating my skin to something special when I massage it in, instead of just stripping everything off. I've never had a problem with it not removing all of my makeup, even mascara, and it doesn't sting my eyes or make my skin feel tight at all! My skin actually feels better after I wash than before!
This can be messy, as this really is an oil and not a gel or soap, so be careful not to drip all over. I also recommend after massaging this in, wet your hands and massage it in again - it gets slightly foamy and really gets off everything if you do that. I don't think that's in the instructions, but it's a pretty standard rule of thumb for oil cleansing. If you're worried about residue, don't be. I've never been greasy at all after using this, and I've never noticed any type of film.
Light weight and easy to use
I love this product! I've used many oil cleansers and I'm a big fan in general, but this one is my top favorite. I've used ones that take the makeup off well, but they're thick and not easy to rinse off and there's a film left on my face even after a regular cleaner as my step 2. This takes my makeup off just as good if not better than the heavier balms, but it's thin, light, and rinses off easily. I will say you have to have dry hands and dry face. A lot of people are afraid of using olive oil, but this olive oil isn't the same as the one in your kitchen, it's heavily refined and high quality so I recommend giving it a chance. It also smells amazing but isn't over powering.
HAD to type up a review ASAP!!!
I've never done this before, as I usually wait a while before expressing my honest thoughts and experiences in a review, but I used this oil just today, and impacted me so much!
I have sensitive-combination skin, and I use makeup about 6 days out of the week.
I currently use the Elemis Rose Cleansing Balm, and previously to that, I used Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm. It's obvious that balms have been my thing, but I've never found an effective cleansing oil to fit my skin type - until using DHC's oil!
I used just as directed, and it gently and effectively removed every trace of my makeup (foundation, waterproof liner, gel eye liner, mascara, eyeshadows, lipstick) without once irritating my eyes or my skin!
I couldn't believe it, so after I rinsed it off, I grabbed a cotton pad and swiped some micelles water on random parts of my face to see if anything was left behind, and there was nothing!!! My skin was clean and wasn't stripped! I still double-cleansed, as usual but didn't feel like my skin was left oily or anything like that.
I'm glad I've finally been able to find my favorite cleansing balm and now, a favorite cleansing oil!
You must try it!
Acne prone? Stay away!
I wanted to love this product so badly because of the raving reviews. I've been using Dermalogica's oil cleanser and in an effort to save money, I decided to try DHC's cleaning oil. I've always had occasional hormonal acne but after only one use of this cleanser, I woke up with acne in places I've never broken out before. I tried to chalk it up to my skin not used to a new product and continued to try it but my acne just grew worse. I decided to stop using this cleaning oil and now my skin is starting to calm back down to normal. I knew this product contained olive oil but I didn't realize how pore clogging olive oil really is. If you have skin that is prone to breakouts, I highly recommend finding a different cleansing oil and staying away from olive oil.
Holy Grail Product
I've been using this product for the past 2 years and I won't ever switch face oils EVER. This is gentle but removes everything.
Word of advice for 1st time oil cleanser users:
Step 1) Work oil onto dry face until all your makeup is melted
Step 2) Wet your hands (just a little) and emulsify the oil on your face
Step 3) Wash and remove. YOU REALLY need to remove everything (extra care around eyelashes and side of nose).
**If you don't remove everything this can actually do more harm--clogged pores, etc**
Wow!
I got this as a sample, and as someone with oily/combination skin, I was super skeptical at the idea of adding oil to my face to actually cleanse it. I almost gave it away. Boy did this product prove me wrong! I will be buying this for life as a mild AM cleanser. I love the idea of not using water to start, and while you're rubbing it into your face, it feels like a nice little oil face massage. It washes off beautifully and leaves my skin feeling really clean and very soft with tight pores. My skin feels cleaner than it has with other regular face washes. I love using it in the morning or other times when I need a clean start to my face. I haven't used this to remove my makeup, as I typically wear a full face during the week and prefer to break out the heavier duty cleanser and eye makeup remover at night for that purpose. However, I am excited to try it as a brush cleanser. Any cleanser with oil always does a great job at cleaning my brushes and sponges.
Best cleansing oil
This is the first cleansing oil I have ever used. I have tried quite a few different cleansing oil and during the last 20 years, I have always go back to this one.
1. It cleanses off makeup very well
2. Easy rinse off
3. Best oil consistency. This is the best aspect of this oil. Not many brands got this down right. It is not too running to be used around eyes. And because it is not too running, it clings to the dirt in your pores much better. I always get tons of grits off my pore while rubbing this oil on my face after a day of wearing makeup. The other oil that does it right would be Shu Uemura. But since Shu's oil is mineral base, that leads me to be next point...
4. This oil is Olive oil base. Very short ingredient list for those who cares.
5. Also not scented. It smells like... oil? I do kindda wish it would have a light pleasant smell as it woud very relaxing for a massaging oil. But I am totally down for fragrance free products.
My new holy grail!
This cleansing oil has been essential to my night time skin care routine. I used to remove my makeup either with makeup wipes or micellar water but I end up using so much product to fully remove my waterproof makeup, not to mention they irritate my sensitive skin. But ever since I started using DHC cleansing oil, it only takes 3 pumps of oil and water and literally everything comes off in a minute!! It melts the make up and makes it easy to remove. It even leaves my skin moisturized. I'm so glad I started using this. It's perfect for my sensitive dry skin. Can't wait til they have the full size available!
Love it!
I received this as a gratis gift from my store manager. At first I was really doubtful over this product because my skin is extremely sensitive and I have only used cleansers such as the Philosophy and the Dermalogica cleanser. However, after trying this product I can say I love it! A little goes a long way, it removes all of my makeup including my waterproof mascara. It did not cause pain to my eyes at all and it did not leave my skin feeling weird. I was excited to see that my skin did not break out after using it, since it tends to do that for products it does not like.
Best Find EV AH
I am 59 years old and have been using this cleanser for at least three years. Don't know why it's taken me so long to write a review but maybe the long history will help. Anyway, it's all I use and I am careful to use a clean washcloth each time. You can buy dozen washcloths very inexpensively and it helps keep your skin clear of bacteria. Anyway, my skin looks better than ever. I get compliments on my skin, AT 59 YEARS OLD, often. And that didn't happen ever before. I have a friend of mine who works for La Prairie (look up their skin care line--it's for uber rich folks, which I am not) and he has commented. This cleanser takes off your eye make and even the lip stains. Just be careful if you get eyelashes applied. The oil will affect the stick.
