About Elizabeth Arden

Founded : 1910

Elizabeth Arden was a Canadian-born American businesswoman and cosmetics manufacturer who founded the Elizabeth Arden cosmetics company in 1910. She was born Florence Nightingale Graham in 1878 in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada. She moved to New York City in 1908 and began her career as a beauty consultant, selling creams and lotions.

In 1910, she opened her first salon on Fifth Avenue in New York City and began selling her own line of cosmetics. She was one of the first to introduce eye make-up and was known for her signature red lipsticks. She also developed the first travel-size beauty products.

In the 1920s, Arden expanded her business to include spas and salons in major cities across the United States. She also opened salons in Paris, London, and Rome. She was the first to introduce the concept of the "makeover," and her salons were known for their luxurious treatments.

In the 1930s, Arden began to focus on developing her own line of skincare products. She developed the first sunscreens and was the first to introduce the concept of "total beauty care." She also developed a line of fragrances and was the first to introduce the concept of "fragrance layering."

In the 1940s, Arden opened her first international salon in Tokyo, Japan. She also opened a research laboratory in New York City to develop new products.

In the 1950s, Arden continued to expand her business and opened salons in major cities across the world. She also developed a line of skin care products for men.

In the 1960s, Arden was one of the first to introduce the concept of "total beauty care" and developed a line of products for women of all ages. She also developed a line of products specifically designed for African-American women.

In the 1970s, Arden continued to expand her business and opened salons in major cities across the world. She also developed a line of products specifically designed for mature women.

Today I received them and found that the products were made in September of 2021! Regular skin care products expire in 3 years!
