HALLY Color Cloud, Foaming Hair Color 4-stars Reviews
Pretty good
(4.5 stars) I have dark hair and knew it wouldn't show much, but, I am impressed with the results. Subtle and noticeable. Also non damaging! I have 3c-4a curls and if anything, this product helped define them. Had a great wash and go afterwards. Looking forward to repeating the process, super easy!
Dark mode worked on my medium brown hair
Only the second time I've ever colored my hair and it has been many years in between. I can't say the foam was all that great but probably a little less messy than creams. I have very smooth hair that doesn't tend to take curl or product well so I was not confident that this would work. The dark mode color made my hair a very dark brown. so far, no damage notice. The smell was rather unpleasant. It lingered three or four days. I am not sure the addition of lavender and other "natural" smells made things better or worse. The first two or three days my hair had more body in manageability. That seems to have gone away and it is back to its normal self. However, the color is staying and it has been two weeks. it was fun. I was not looking for a long-term commitment, so this fit the bill. I may try the rose gold or purple Next, but I am well aware with my hair color they may not work. Just for fun!
Not a true purple avalanche but will buy again
Evened out my brown/gray roots and previously color-treated hair to a lovely rose hue with a touch of lilac. While not the biggest color payoff, there was plenty of foam to cover and it was shockingly easy to clean from my skin and counters. I did not have high expectations (the rule of bleach is long established for vibrant color and that's unlikely to change) but wanted to try something new and more gentle and I'm pleasantly surprised, my hair feels great!
So Awesome!
I really loved using Hally! I used atomic blonde on my dark blonde/ brown hair. I was a golden blonde when I was younger and still would be if I went out in the sun lol. But now Im indoors all the time and my hair was very brunnette with blonde undertones/highlights. Ive used hydrogen peroxide and lemon juice to lighten in the sun before but this worked so much better! Not quite as light as I was hoping for in my daydreams but definately lighter that I thought I could go in an hour without bleach! I have thick hair down to almost the bottom of my ribcage and one bottle was enough that I had so much foam I didnt know what to do with it. I left the foam on for an hour and love the results! oh also I did try 48 hours before to mix some of the developer and color (like a teaspoon) and did one small section of my hair but it didnt do anything, when I used the whole bottle though and shook it up it worked great.
Pleasantly surprised
I am a natural level 8 blonde who is tired of paying an obscene amount of money for my hair (that and student loans.) I picked the atomic blonde up on a whim and like it! I would say my hair is about two shades lighter and it is definitely cooler. I wanted an ashy, light blonde look and that's what I got. My roots are lighter too but were left with an orange tint. Personally, I don't mind because it's a very subtle, cool shade and it kinda reminds me of Sun-In. I'll likely use this product again as it's good on the wallet and my hair doesn't feel fried. I wouldn't recommend it to someone that is particular about their shade of blonde because of the orange tint on the roots but if you're naturally blonde and looking for a change up or alternative, I would definitely recommend this!
Cola on dark dark virgin Asian hair
Virgin Asian hair, got Cola Coaster to cover a few gray strands and tone my dark, almost-black brown hair. Was hoping to get a softer, milkier brown than my natural color. I wanted to try Hally because I wanted to keep my hair healthy and not have to spend hundreds at the salon for another shade of dark brown. The box suggests leaving it on longer for more color and I did that because I was worried that my hair was too dark and coarse to absorb color. After dying the tone is a more soft, milky dark brown than my natural color, which is what I wanted! It's a deep chestnut but there is a soft, milky tint to it. Came out soft and feels healthy still. My gray strands are still there but they are much less visible than before. It's only been one day so I hope it lasts longer than a handful of washes. If it does I'll buy it again
Fun Kit
I have pretty blondish hair so I got the rose gold. I loved all the cute things that came in the kit. I wish i had gotten 2 or they offered a larger size for long thick hair. But it went on easy. I could see a small difference and liked it. I'd like to try the purple color next for a more noticeable difference!
Super easy, great for kids
The foam and the whole kit made this such an easy process! My five year old wanted purple hair. We tried chalk which got everywhere. So I bought this dye. I love that it came with everything you needed, and the stress sand was awesome for her. It didn't dye her hair very noticeably though, it was really subtle. Even though it said to use the whole bottle, I ended up not using the whole thing because it felt like she had so much in her head. But next time, I'd use the whole bottle and see if that makes it a bit brighter.
Interesting
I bought the lilac and I would say it is more mauve. I do have mousy brown hair with blonde highlights so that might be why. I will say I do like what it's fading into. So far so good. I will definitely be trying this again.
Not Bad, but Not as Simple as it Looks
Bought the Rose Gold color to put on my naturally dark blonde hair. I wasn't expecting it to come out perfectly pink on the first try. I once bleached my hair out, and I know how long the process can take. At first, my hair was light and warmer in tone, but no pink. I've done it for a second time now, and there's a note on the website about going back and using the rest of your head for an extra 15 minutes. My second time, I rinsed out the hair, dried it out (because you shouldn't apply color to wet hair), and did the extra step. The rose tones were actually more noticeable. However, I would like it to be pinker, but the peroxide will continue to lighten your hair another shade or two, and I don't know if I want it to be any lighter.... It's a real crux. Anyway, if you're expecting this to magically turn your hair like the pictures, you might be overestimating the power of semi-permanent hair color. This color is far less harsh, and it's kinder to your strands than traditional chemical processing. If you want to give it a whirl, I say go for it! Just don't create too many expectations around what the final result will be. That will only lead to disappointment.
Love it.
I'm allergic to most hair dye, but had no reaction to Hally's Code Red. Fun and easy-to-use system too. Will definitely buy again. I have dark brown hair and the reddish tint is beautiful, especially in the sun. Would only be better if the dye covered up grays too.
Enjoyable experience
I have curly hair and it had been previously dyed red, and I had 2 inch of new growth so it came out more like a "cherry coke" color rather than actual purple. I like how their ingredients are natural and clean, process was really easy and not too messy in comparison to regular dye. Im not sure if i'm a fan of the foam, as i feel it caused me to put more of it in some spots than others because it was drying a bit fast. Really like the putty and eye mask it came with.
User error I think!
I loved the packaging and process. I wanted to do this with my daughter, so I used 2/3 of the bottle on myself and about 1/3 on her. Neither of us saw any color change. I thought maybe I'd get a lighter version of the color. I'd like to try again and use the full bottle like instructed!
Great color, very softening, not good smell
The experience overall was great - only downfalls were the huge gloves and not so great smell that took a very floral shampoo to get rid of after 2 washes. The color is vivid and nice - a little less ashy on my reddish-brown hair but really beautiful. Excited to try again soon!
Good hair color option
I love the color (perfect for me) and the ease of use this product. It costs about 2/3 less than a professional charges, and I like the ability to fit it into my schedule versus waiting on a specific salon time. Only con is that the gray seems to show through a little sooner along my hairline, which means the product doesn't "take" quite as well as a pro job, but it's minimal, so I can live with it nicely for the cost savings!
Great hair color!
I really enjoy using Hally's foaming hair color. I have found I prefer foam over traditional liquid color. It is easy to use and the coverage is thorough. The pain point for me is the packaging. I don't need another set of hair clips and putty every time I order. I'm also able to fit the contents of 2 boxes into one box, so it seems like there could be a less wasteful way to pack these.
Playful and fun hair color change
Really fun product to use. I tried Hally about a month ago and wasn't totally satisfied with the results -- the customer service team reached out to me and offered a replacement kit. This second time, I was much happier with the results. If you're looking for a slight change to your hair/playing around with color, this is a great way to try!
More Maroon than Purple on Brown Hair
I bought 2 kits because I have past-my-shoulder length, very thick hair. I recruited my husband's help in the application and the process took about half an hour. I applied to my uncolored, natural hair. Starting with brown hair, I knew I wouldn't end up with a true purple and it came out more like a maroon/auburn color. The process was easy, colored evenly, rinsed off exposed skin and surfaces easily, and was affordable and fun.
Pretty pleased!
I am naturally brunette, and I had previously lightened ends/mid-length with hydrogen peroxide. Very brassy to begin with, so my hair actually ended up looking more brunette/ lavender. Not displeased, but I wish I lightened/toned with atomic blonde first. Question: Would applying heat during the dying process produce a more dramatic result? I do like the foam formula though! It didn't stain my bathroom , or leave my skin stained or slimy after rinsing the dye out in the shower. Conclusion: Inventive concept, I think I just need to give it another go after trying atomic blonde next time.
