pretty okay for what it does

I bought this product to dry and curl my hair. The blow dryer itself is great and I like using the attachment to smooth my hair and dry my roots. The curling iron takes practice, but once you get the hang of it the curler gives you loose blowout-like curls. The biggest draw back is getting the hang of it. Your hair needs to be almost completely dry and you got to use the cool setting to set the curls if you want them to last. I would say this is good for anyone looking for a product that doesn't damage your hair unlike the typical curling iron.

Not quite what I wanted

I had a similar item years ago that I loved and worked perfectly for my short hair. I was hoping this would be a good replacement but unfortunately the barrel in this is too big. I need one with a 3/4" to a 1" barrel. I wish they would make it again!! Please!

Unfortunately, I had to return this.

save your $

I am already a fan if Hot Tools Blowout brush , but unfortunately this hair tool didn't meet my expectations. If you have wavy or curly frizzy hair I'd wouldn't recommend this tool. I tried it several ways with damp , or almost dry hair & with different hair products and still got frizzy curls that would fall in minutes. The only thing I liked was the root drying attachment.I found it very convenient but wish they sold it separately. Overall I got better results with the blowout brush and velcro rollers then this hair tool.

Not good for thick hair

I used this a few times with different techniques. I have somewhat thick hair and had to really section my hair to get the curls to stay all day and use tons of hairspray. I wouldnt reccomend this styling tool if you have really thick hair

Didn't work on my mixed-texured hair.

I was not that impressed with the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler that I received for free as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for providing a review. I'm mixed and have a few different textures and curl patterns so this might work better on less thick hair. The "comb" attachment tool is pretty much useless as it separates the hair only to dry the hair closest to the vent. It's not an actual comb attachment. I tried to try when my hair was both damp and towel dried, but both ways took ages and never felt truly dry. The curler attachment just didn't get hot enough for my hair, so it never curled completely or achieved that smooth look and feel. Each time I used the styler I had to supplement using either my regular blow dryer or flat iron. Super disappointed as I was hoping to finally find something that will cut down on my "get-ready time" and also bathroom storage clutter.

Good 2-in-1 Syling Tool

I received the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I used this product a couple of times and the results were very similar.

This is a very neat and different styling tool. It came in a box in 3 pieces - the base, the blow dryer comb, and the curling rod. I found assembly very easy by attaching and slightly twisting the attachments. For removal, you push a release button and twist the other way.

As a Black female, I found the blow dryer to be a good dryer. There are 4 different settings, cool, low medium, and hot. I used the hot to dry my hair and the medium to curl my hair.

The comb attachment was very convenient paired with the heat from the blow dryer. As I finished drying my hair, I switched attachments to the curling rod. I did not like that I found it very difficult to completely curl my already dried hair with more heat. But what I did like was the volume that it added to my curls. My hair is natural and to keep the curls locked in, I would have had to use multiple "holding" products.

This 2-in-1 was more convenient than using 2 separate dry and curl tools, because you don't have to wait for the curling iron to get to your desired temperature.

But the end result, I would recommend this styling tool for those who want an end result of a looser barreled curl look over a tightened curl. I would definitely recommend the dryer attachment to everyone because it is a product that any hair type can use. As far as the curling rod attachment, I would recommend for people with not as thick hair (like mine). It definitely also helps, being a multiple use tool, and not having to use multiple tools.

Beautiful Bouncy Curls

I am such a creature of habit that trying a new hair tool seemed daunting. The Hot Tools Curler is a new and exciting product I had to try. First, I used the root concentrator attachment to fluff my roots, and then I used the detachable curler to give my hair so much-needed volume. It created such beautiful curls, and I was so impressed by how easy it was to get the look I wanted. I haven't had my hair colored in forever, which still made it look professionally done. I love that there are four temperature settings, and you can even cool down your curls all in one go. This is definitely a fun product that I'm getting the hang of, but I can see using it much more frequently than my usual curling wand. The only con was the clamp did give my hair a little bit of a bend, so I'm just going to have to practice smoothing that over more.

I had high hopes for this styling tool!

I was given this hair tool to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was so excited to receive this product! I love the idea of having a hair dryer and curling iron all in one. The hairstyle I wear most is curled. After using the product I was a little disappointed in the end result of my curls. The hair dryer works great and has various speeds. The curls are very loose waves similar to a blow out style. I would recommend this product if you are looking for more of a blowout style! If you are expecting more of a curl to hold you might want to research other options. I love how fast the dryer dried my hair and will definitely continue to use as a hair dryer, but not for my every day curls.

Not for me!

I was excited to try this 2-in-1 tool! The directions made it seem easy to use. However, this wasn't the case and this product is not for me. When I started using the comb attachment I wasn't really sure what it was actually doing to my hair. My hair is fine and wavy and it barely stayed in the comb. The barrel attachment didn't give great results either. The air would just blow half my hair out of the wand. I feel like you need three arms to use this product efficiently because you have to flip to the cool setting to set the curls after using the heated air. You're supposed to flip this switch all while holding the curl in the clip and it's really difficult to do. I wish this feature was an automatic setting or at minimum, a more accessible button by my fingers. The handle of it is really large… too large! I have small hands and it was difficult to hold in general. I think some of the brush attachments that are sold separately may have worked better than the ones included. I didn't have success trying it alone, so I went to my daughter's house to make sure it wasn't user error. She and I were able to completely dry my hair with the tool. Unfortunately, it took us over an hour to do what a similar look created with a traditional blow-dryer and curling iron would only take twenty minutes. The results didn't look great. I had more volume but my hair was puffy and I didn't get the nice full curls I was hoping for. The product packaging looks nice and I really the idea of the 2-in-1 tool, but I don't think I can recommend this. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for giving me this hair tool to try!

I would recommend to my friends with thinner hair

I received this 2-in-1 tool as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It was super easy to put together and use. Each part of the tool was simple to use and that is something that is important to me. However, as easy as it was to put together, I will still probably go back to using a separate dryer and curler.

The 2-in-1 tool curled my hair pretty well. The caveat was that I could not get the curls to hold. With my hair, it's a hard task, and this seemed to be for thinner hair. Like I said above, this probably won't be my go-to but I am going to keep trying to use it. Just in case it is user error.

My favorite part of the tool was the easy to assemble parts and the fact that I did not really worry about burning my hair off. The drawback was that the drying comb apparatus seems to be for thinner hair. Even with my hair in sections, it did not seem to comb my hair and dry it effectively.

I would definitely recommend this product to all of my friends that had thinner hair than mine!

Half and half

This product definitely had pros and cons. The pros were the blow dryer part of it. I absolutely loved it. Heated immediately and cooled immediately. I loved that it would comb through the hair while drying it. The combing and splitting the hair apart made it dry faster, which saved me a lot of time of course. Also, this blow dryer made my hair feel smoothed at the end and less frizzy on the too of the head!

The cons of this product we're unfortunately the curling iron part. Even on the lowest setting, the curling iron blew too hard which resulted in multiple "fly aways" or somewhat frizzy. All thought it kept my hair smooth, it did not style it, so I had to use my actual curling iron to set the style.

Definitely a staple in your hair care routine!

I received this product as a reviewer for Stellar Panel. I was a little skeptical on this item, since there is no blow dry feature before hand besides the big comb it comes with.

So I had to blow dry a bit before to get my hair mostly dry, then used the curling feature and I will say I was actually quite amazed.

It was really really easy to use and curl, the only downfall to this whole wand is the heat settings to the cool feature. Since I had to use kind of two hands to get a piece of hair into the curler and the way you have to twist the bottom of the barrel to change the heat and hot is all the way on one end and cool on the other I was constantly turning it off on accident lol!

BUT this was an amazing tool and I used this for a wedding welcome party so it held up so nicely with volume and didn't look flat by the end of the night with drinking and a lot of hugging and gathering!

Definitely recommend this product and so easy with just one barrel, not having to really switch the heads. Only downfall to blow dry your hair a bit before so it's not soaking wet when using this but I was also in a time crunch and couldn't wait to let my hair air dry to the right setting.

Newbie to hair tools

I received this product free as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

I am not one to try new fancy hair tools when I am already fond of my own simple routine, but this tool was a life changer! No need to have my hair blowdryer and my curling iron plugged in one after the other.

The hair drying attachment gave my hair volume while effectively drying my hair. All while the curling iron attachment gave me full bouncy curls, full of life and shine. I would most definitely recommend this to a friend as it is very convenient and effective.

A Good Tool for Quick Hairstyles

I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. As someone who only occasionally uses a curling iron, I really enjoyed using the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler. It was easy to assemble and use, and I love that I don't have to wait for my hair to dry to use it. I also thought that it was not as harsh on my hair as traditional curling irons. It is a little bulky, but because the pieces are detachable, I imagine it would be easy to travel with. My hair is recently short (slightly below chin length), and I had no trouble using this tool. Curls held all day and looked fantastic!

What a great travel tool!

I received this product to try through Stellar Panel! I have used this product twice now, and there are pros and cons. First time was during my usual work routine. To get best results you let your hair air dry to damp before using. My hair is very long so that added quite a bit of time to my morning. The dryer isn't as strong as my personal dryer but it gets the job done eventually! The curlers temperature was perfect to keep my curls lasting all day. Where this product really shines is the convenience of being a 2 in 1. I took this product on a weekend get away and it worked great. Packing was easy and space saving in my suit case. The dryer worked a lot better than the typical hotel dryer, and the curler heats up quickly so you aren't waiting around to start adding curls. This product will be accompanying me on many trips to come!

Beautiful tool but just misses the mark

I was so excited to try this Hot Tools curling and drying styler. I have seen and heard about this kind of product from friends and family who rave about them, and since I'm usually too lazy to blow out my hair, I thought this would be really wonderful to shorten steps and give a polished look in half the time. The Stellar Product Testing Panel graciously provided me with this hair tool and as soon as I received it, I couldn't wait to try it. The packaging and product itself feel like really high quality — nothing lightweight or cheap about it down to the box it comes in. I tried this on a handful of occasions, doing my best to follow written and video instructions on how to use it best, but ultimately I couldn't get it to meet my expectations. What I changed each time was how wet my hair was, sometimes almost dry, some on the wetter side, some in the middle. I always used a styling product as suggested. Keeping my hair more wet wasn't helpful and took too long to use the tool. On the dryer side, it definitely finishes drying my hair and even looks like a great curl at first, but it always fell quite flat very quickly. I think this product could work so well for a specific hair type, and perhaps if it had clipped up each curl afterward, maybe it would have set better. My hair is super stick straight; it dries naturally that way and can hold a curl from an iron but can also be a bit weather dependent. I did not use this on rainy or humid days to make sure it wasn't falling flat because of the weather. In general, the tool was pretty easy to use. It takes some time because you're still curling and not simply blowing out your hair, but if my curls held it would be worth it to skip a separate blow dry, especially if I was in a pinch for time. One thing that is a bit difficult about using it is that I have a hard time keeping the air on while switching between strands; hair would blow everywhere and smaller pieces would blow out from the barrel before I could curl them up. Because of this, I had to shut off the dryer between each piece of hair. That wasn't such a big deal, though I wish it had an easier toggle or button to be able to do so quickly. While I don't think I will be using this product for curling, I do think some people with different hair types could benefit and I will definitely be looking for a brush attachment so I can still use it to blow out my hair rather than curl it.

Great dryer, ok for curling

I received this product as part of the stellar testing panel. This blow dryer us very high quality and puts out a lot of heat without burning the hair. I also like the blow dryer wand because it is not metal and does not get overly hot. The first time I tried the curling wand I did not get a good result because I started with fully dried hair. Once I did it with damp hair it worked better. However, it does not curl like a curling iron. It curls loose curls and can be difficult for short hair. I do not like that there is not a cool button, the user must turn the dial back and forth from hot to cool which made curling difficult and tedious. Overall I will keep using the dryer because it works great but I won't be using the curling unless I'm traveling and don't have a curling iron.

Best hair tool for a busy mom!

I was given this hair tool to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this tool, and how frequently it has become part of my routine. Before using this, I would never wash and curl my hair on the same day, because it takes so long to dry that curling after drying was out of the question. (I've never been able to get the hang of curling my hair with a brush and hair dryer).

But, this tool makes it so efficient! I'm able to go from fully wet hair to dry and curled hair in 28 minutes (I know, I timed it).

The attachment for drying the roots works so well- my hair had volume, did not dry frizzy, and was fully dry quickly. The cool setting on the dryer also works very well to assure the curl stays set after curling.

It did take a couple practice tries to get used to the tool- my hair is about 5 inches past my shoulders and thick, and I had to learn to properly wrap it around the barrel in order to fully dry the hair as it won't really dry if it's overlapped. I'm sure this would be even more efficient for someone with shorter hair!

The small learning curve on this tool was worth it to me to be able to wash my hair, then dry and curl the same day! Seriously a mom's best friend.

Not so good for thick, super long hair

I really wanted to love the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler, but I found it didn't work particularly well on my extremely long and heavy hair. I was trying it as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I did really love the root drying/fluffing attachment! I suspect the curling attachment would work well on shorter, lighter weight hair. I tried it once and found it wasn't working very well for me so I got some tips from the company to see if I was doing something wrong. The only thing they suggested that I didn't try was a hair curling serum to help the curls stay. But since I don't normally need to use one to get my hair to curl I opted not to use the serum to review this product so I could compare apples to apples. Normally it takes me 15-20 minutes to blow dry my hair and another 30 to curl it. Using this tool it took me over an hour to do only half of my hair, I had to hair spray like crazy to get the curls to hold, and then the lightest brushing made it all fall out again. I know part of the reason it took so crazy long to do my hair was that my hair is just too long for a tool like this, so I had to use only the tiniest sections of my hair at a time so it wouldn't overlap on the rod and could dry properly. Maybe if I cut my hair shorter I'll try it again, but for my super long hair it just wasn't giving the results I needed.

Tons of Volume!

I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Typically, I blow dry my hair and use a standard curling iron to style. To start, the Hot Tools One Step was a really easy to use. After reading the instructions once, I was able to get started right away and the hang of it quickly. Overall, I think this product gave me a ton more volume and more "Hollywood Style" curls, than my traditional method. It took me about 30-35 minutes to fully style my hair with it, which is pretty comparable to my traditional method. I have naturally straight hair and it's pretty long (a few inches past armpits) and there is a lot of it! I do think my curls didn't last as long using this tool, however that could be the size chunks of hair I used, making the curls a bit too big. I will need to keep trying to see if that is always the case or if I can get them to last longer. Even when they did lose their main curl, it faded into a nice wave which was still pretty. I really liked that you could "do it all" with one tool and I liked the volume it gave the most- definitely my favorite part. Overall, I think it was very comparable to the traditional method, and I liked the look it gave me was a bit different, meaning I could see myself using this alongside my traditional methods.
