Good 2-in-1 Syling Tool

I received the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler as a part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I used this product a couple of times and the results were very similar.

This is a very neat and different styling tool. It came in a box in 3 pieces - the base, the blow dryer comb, and the curling rod. I found assembly very easy by attaching and slightly twisting the attachments. For removal, you push a release button and twist the other way.

As a Black female, I found the blow dryer to be a good dryer. There are 4 different settings, cool, low medium, and hot. I used the hot to dry my hair and the medium to curl my hair.

The comb attachment was very convenient paired with the heat from the blow dryer. As I finished drying my hair, I switched attachments to the curling rod. I did not like that I found it very difficult to completely curl my already dried hair with more heat. But what I did like was the volume that it added to my curls. My hair is natural and to keep the curls locked in, I would have had to use multiple "holding" products.

This 2-in-1 was more convenient than using 2 separate dry and curl tools, because you don't have to wait for the curling iron to get to your desired temperature.

But the end result, I would recommend this styling tool for those who want an end result of a looser barreled curl look over a tightened curl. I would definitely recommend the dryer attachment to everyone because it is a product that any hair type can use. As far as the curling rod attachment, I would recommend for people with not as thick hair (like mine). It definitely also helps, being a multiple use tool, and not having to use multiple tools.

Beautiful Bouncy Curls

I am such a creature of habit that trying a new hair tool seemed daunting. The Hot Tools Curler is a new and exciting product I had to try. First, I used the root concentrator attachment to fluff my roots, and then I used the detachable curler to give my hair so much-needed volume. It created such beautiful curls, and I was so impressed by how easy it was to get the look I wanted. I haven't had my hair colored in forever, which still made it look professionally done. I love that there are four temperature settings, and you can even cool down your curls all in one go. This is definitely a fun product that I'm getting the hang of, but I can see using it much more frequently than my usual curling wand. The only con was the clamp did give my hair a little bit of a bend, so I'm just going to have to practice smoothing that over more.

*I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and all opinions are my own.*

Definitely a staple in your hair care routine!

I received this product as a reviewer for Stellar Panel. I was a little skeptical on this item, since there is no blow dry feature before hand besides the big comb it comes with.

So I had to blow dry a bit before to get my hair mostly dry, then used the curling feature and I will say I was actually quite amazed.

It was really really easy to use and curl, the only downfall to this whole wand is the heat settings to the cool feature. Since I had to use kind of two hands to get a piece of hair into the curler and the way you have to twist the bottom of the barrel to change the heat and hot is all the way on one end and cool on the other I was constantly turning it off on accident lol!

BUT this was an amazing tool and I used this for a wedding welcome party so it held up so nicely with volume and didn't look flat by the end of the night with drinking and a lot of hugging and gathering!

Definitely recommend this product and so easy with just one barrel, not having to really switch the heads. Only downfall to blow dry your hair a bit before so it's not soaking wet when using this but I was also in a time crunch and couldn't wait to let my hair air dry to the right setting.

Newbie to hair tools

I received this product free as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

I am not one to try new fancy hair tools when I am already fond of my own simple routine, but this tool was a life changer! No need to have my hair blowdryer and my curling iron plugged in one after the other.

The hair drying attachment gave my hair volume while effectively drying my hair. All while the curling iron attachment gave me full bouncy curls, full of life and shine. I would most definitely recommend this to a friend as it is very convenient and effective.

A Good Tool for Quick Hairstyles

I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. As someone who only occasionally uses a curling iron, I really enjoyed using the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler. It was easy to assemble and use, and I love that I don't have to wait for my hair to dry to use it. I also thought that it was not as harsh on my hair as traditional curling irons. It is a little bulky, but because the pieces are detachable, I imagine it would be easy to travel with. My hair is recently short (slightly below chin length), and I had no trouble using this tool. Curls held all day and looked fantastic!

What a great travel tool!

I received this product to try through Stellar Panel! I have used this product twice now, and there are pros and cons. First time was during my usual work routine. To get best results you let your hair air dry to damp before using. My hair is very long so that added quite a bit of time to my morning. The dryer isn't as strong as my personal dryer but it gets the job done eventually! The curlers temperature was perfect to keep my curls lasting all day. Where this product really shines is the convenience of being a 2 in 1. I took this product on a weekend get away and it worked great. Packing was easy and space saving in my suit case. The dryer worked a lot better than the typical hotel dryer, and the curler heats up quickly so you aren't waiting around to start adding curls. This product will be accompanying me on many trips to come!

Great dryer, ok for curling

I received this product as part of the stellar testing panel. This blow dryer us very high quality and puts out a lot of heat without burning the hair. I also like the blow dryer wand because it is not metal and does not get overly hot. The first time I tried the curling wand I did not get a good result because I started with fully dried hair. Once I did it with damp hair it worked better. However, it does not curl like a curling iron. It curls loose curls and can be difficult for short hair. I do not like that there is not a cool button, the user must turn the dial back and forth from hot to cool which made curling difficult and tedious. Overall I will keep using the dryer because it works great but I won't be using the curling unless I'm traveling and don't have a curling iron.

Tons of Volume!

I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. Typically, I blow dry my hair and use a standard curling iron to style. To start, the Hot Tools One Step was a really easy to use. After reading the instructions once, I was able to get started right away and the hang of it quickly. Overall, I think this product gave me a ton more volume and more "Hollywood Style" curls, than my traditional method. It took me about 30-35 minutes to fully style my hair with it, which is pretty comparable to my traditional method. I have naturally straight hair and it's pretty long (a few inches past armpits) and there is a lot of it! I do think my curls didn't last as long using this tool, however that could be the size chunks of hair I used, making the curls a bit too big. I will need to keep trying to see if that is always the case or if I can get them to last longer. Even when they did lose their main curl, it faded into a nice wave which was still pretty. I really liked that you could "do it all" with one tool and I liked the volume it gave the most- definitely my favorite part. Overall, I think it was very comparable to the traditional method, and I liked the look it gave me was a bit different, meaning I could see myself using this alongside my traditional methods.

Innovative product

I'm going to start out with this is such a cool product and concept and would be amazing for a hair stylist to have. There were several things I really liked about this product and also a few things that specifically didn't work for me. I'm going to start with that I have very long hair past mid back and it is fairly thin.

My first time trying this product out I watched some videos and went for it. I was thinking since it was drying curly that I wouldn't need any hairspray and I was wrong. Second time using I received some feedback from the company with more videos to demonstrate use and it went much better! Left my hair with stronger curls and with more practice it gets easier to use! With my hair being thin I have to be careful when drying the roots because my ends dry much faster. I did have to use a mister bottle towards the end because my hair was getting too dry by the time I would get to the rest. Initially it leaves some nice big curls but even with additional products my hair would frizz more than normal and didn't hold curl as well as drying and curling separate. I do think this is much easier on hair and will still take additional practice to use. I recommend this for big curls that turn into beachy waves. I did receive this product as a part of the stellar product testing panel for my honest review and used this product for a month before leaving my review.

Overall if you are looking for volume and willing to take some time learning a new tool I think this is totally worth adding to your hair tool collection!

Pretty decent styling tool

I have been using the Hot Tools Pro Protect and Style One-Step for the past couple of weeks and it is a pretty useful tool when you have the time to use it properly. I did receive this tool for free from Stellar Product Testing Panel in order for my very honest opinion on the product. The blow drying curling iron itself is not too heavy and pretty easy to use. You have to make sure your hair is 80% dried in order for it to make beautiful curls. Make sure that your roots are completely dried as well- the attachment to dry your roots works really well. I found that to make the best curls- you need small sections in order to actually dry the hair and you must use the cool setting after using the hot setting in order to set the curls. I did have really great volume to my hair after using this tool but the curls themselves did not hold very long. I would suggest using styling products like hair spray or texture spray to help with that.

Overall, I think it's a great tool but it will not give you better curls than a curling iron but it gives really great volume to your hair. It is nice to save a step and blow dry and style your hair at the same time.

Loved the product, but not for my hair

The Hot Tools Detachable Dryer and Curler is a great product that is easy to use. It looks sleek and feels well made. Switching out the two attachments is super easy as well. However, I did find that switching between modes by twisting the bottom was a little more difficult for me in the middle of using the product. I generally prefer buttons or a slide toggle on the handle.

Nevertheless, using the root dryer attachment gave me great volume, which was my favorite part of this tool. Volume is something that I usually struggle with, with my thin, fine and greying hair. Unfortunately, it did take me quite a bit longer than usual to dry my hair with this tool than it typically does when I dry it with a regular blow dryer. The curling attachment also gave me beautiful curls as well. Even so, I don't know if I just haven't gotten the hang of it or what, but my curls generally fall about 10 minutes later and I'm left with mostly straight hair. Maybe I need more practice, or it just might not be compatible with my hair.

As much as I loved the product, in the future I think I will stick to my tried and true method of curling as it generally gives me longer lasting curls in a shorter amount of time. I will definitely use this as part of my routine to help with my volume though! I do think that someone else with a different type of hair would love this, unfortunately its just not for me. Thanks so much to Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this hair tool to test out!

Good for travel

I received the product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I liked this tool mostly for travel as it's lightweight and gives my hair a smooth texture compared to air drying. This works for daily use as well, but I haven't been able to get the volume I prefer. The like how it dries into a curl, but for my fine hair, I can only get a loose wave. I think it's a good product and plan to use this for travel mostly as it's small and light.

Great for volume, super convenient!

Pros: Convenience/Versatility - I love this all-in-one design! Having a small bathroom and an overcrowded home, I can really appreciate not having to have 2-3 separate products to do my hair. The different attachments really make it a versatile product.

Volume - I have thin hair but a lot of it, and it tends to get frizzy from breakage and generally just being unkind to my tresses (AKA never settling on a hair color for too long). My hair tends to fall flat when curled, but combining the blow-drying with curling... Wow. The volume I got was amazing and much, much better than traditional blow-drying and curling with a curling iron.

Longer-lasting curls - As previously stated, thin hair here. My curls do tend to fall flat fairly quickly. With this system, however, I noticed my curls stayed a lot longer and well into the next day! Tip: I followed directions to switch to the cool setting briefly before releasing the curl which seemed to set the curl better.

Cons: Heat settings - This tool has 4 settings - Cool, Low, Med, and High. I found that having thinner hair, the low setting was sufficient to dry my hair when divided into small sections, however, even the low setting was too hot for my scalp when within an inch or two. Granted, I have a sensitive scalp, but I couldn't handle the heat of the med or high settings.

Frizz: My hair is naturally thin and frizzy from damage and breakage, but the flow of air outwards from the barrel of the curling attachment seemed to enhance my frizziness. Nothing running some lightweight frizz-taming cream couldn't manage, but thought it might be helpful for fellow frizz-sufferers to know.

Clamp hinge area: My hair actually got stuck near the hinge of the clamp of the curling iron a couple times. I was able to carefully get it out without breakage, and maybe this was user error on my part, but something to be aware of.

Neutral additional points: I'm a busy mom and was hoping that would save me a ton of time, however, this product didn't exactly save me time in styling. It probably took the same amount of time for me personally to dry then curl my hair, but this will vary depending on hair length, thickness, and desired outcome. For me, I will continue to use this to curl my hair simply for the volume and long-lasting curls I obtain using it.

I found that turning it off after curling a section and before clamping the next section was helpful so my hair wasn't blowing around while trying to grab a hold of it.

Conclusion: Overall, the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler is a really neat tool if you're looking to add volume, have your curls last all day/night (maybe the next day too!), or you're running low on time or space for other tools. If these things sound like you, I'd recommend it!

Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing this product in exchange for my honest review.

Way Less Damage Than A Traditional Dryer

Whenever I blow dry my hair with a traditional blow dryer, my hair feels like it has been through a literal hurricane and it is SO hard to brush out afterwards. I have thin straight hair, and it gets extremely tangled. I was excited to see that this tool offered a brush attachment for the drying part instead of just blowing hot hair everywhere. I'm able to keep my hair combed throughout the ENTIRE process of drying which is a dream, and something I've never been able to experience. I felt like I was doing more damage while brushing my hair out after a traditional blow dryer, than the damage done from applying heat. After I was done drying my hair with this tool, it was so simple to brush through. No knots or tangles, and I didn't feel like I was breaking off my hair. I also felt like I got more volume too since I was able to really get under my roots.

Now to the curling part. This is the only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars and it can totally be due to my hair type since it's never held a curl suuuuper well. So don't let it turn you off! The curls came out nice after immediately releasing the tool, but they fell super fast and I couldn't even tell I curled my hair once I was done with my whole head. It did give me a little bit of a wave and more volume for sure, which I will definitely take over super flat hair. I've been using a curling iron for YEARS that doesn't have a clamp to it, so maybe that's just what I'm used to and what my hair prefers. All in all, I really liked the ease of use with this tool and how easy it is to change attachments. Plus, there is more than just an on and off—you can choose your heat level! That's a very important thing for me.

I was able to use this product thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel—you guys rock!

Perfect beach waves!!

The 2-in-1 tool gave me the perfect soft beach waves. The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating was because it took longer to style than a regular curling iron. The final product I achieved with my hair was wonderful, but it was pretty time consuming because you have to take very small sections of hair at a time. You also can only style with this tool with slightly damp hair, so it also took longer because I blew dry my hair mostly with a regular blow dryer and then finished it off with the 2-in1 tool. That being said, it was worth the longer process because I haven't been able to achieve this nice of relaxed beach style curls with any other kind of tool! I received many complements on my hair!! I will definitely be using this instead of a tradition curling iron because this makes my hair look like a more natural wave, instead of a more defined individual curl that a traditional curling iron produces. My favorite feature of this tool is that you can choose the speed that you dry with. The light heat blowing felt more gentle on my hair rather than a hot metal plate that comes with a traditional curling iron. I will definitely recommend this to my friends! I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel.

From Damp Hair to Curls

As a busy mom, it is hard for me to find the time to style my hair, so I was intrigued about the time-saving possibilities of the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler. And while I didn't necessarily find that it saved me much time from blowdrying and curling separately (I have thin hair that air drys fairly quickly), I did like that I could use it safely on my hair without waiting for it to be fully dry. In fact, the more times that I used it, I discovered that the curls set better if my hair hadn't dried out too much!

While I really liked the curling tool, especially the fact that it has a clamp (with my medium length hair, it would be difficult to wrap and hold), I was not a huge fan of the comb tool. It works fine for drying the roots of my hair, but if you are intending to dry all your hair with it, you might be disappointed. The teeth on the comb are so short, combined with the blowing air, it isn't really possible to dry down the length of your hair without awkwardly holding your hair and the tips to keep it from blowing away. But despite that fact, the real hero of the tool is the curler.

Every time I used this tool, I got compliments on my hair. I was very pleased with the loose, beachy waves I was able to achieve with it. I also felt like it is gentler on my hair than using a traditional curling iron. Thanks to Stellar Product Testing Panel, from whom I received this product, I am now Hot Tools Pro fan, and am looking much more put together these days!

Great for travel!

I haven't been using many styling tools lately (Hello, pandemic) but now that I'm back in the office once a week, traveling for work, and just out and about more regularly, this little tool is super handy to have. It kind of has a steep learning curve when first starting to use it, so I strongly recommend watching the styling videos and tips/tricks--they are super helpful. The drying function isn't the best (I have straight, fine hair, but a lot of it) so I'll probably just stick to my regular hair dryer, but I love it for second-day hair, especially if I mist my hair a bit before using, to add volume or waves. The detachable handle is great for travel (and for storage) and I love that it seems to be gentler on my hair vs a traditional curling iron or other hot tool. Definitely curious to see how more adept I become at using it over time! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending this to me for my honest feedback.

A new way to style.

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this hair tool. This styling tool is an awesome idea. I have long straight hair, and a lot of it. The root concentrator is great, I used it several times to mostly dry my entire head so it didn't turn to a frizzy mess with the humidity. The curling barrel takes time to learn, I practiced several times and was able to get it down after a while. The key is smaller sections of hair and then to give it a cool shot at the end. It's important to remember that this is a dryer that helps curl, it will not give traditional curling iron curls. More of a blowout or beach wave type of look. While this will not be my go to for curls, it will be my go to for a quick blowout style. It also worked well on my child, who has much less hair than I do. I found it easier to style her hair than it was to style my own. I would make two changes to this product: a larger barrel for those of us with long thick hair and a cold air button. It was a bit of a hassle to turn the dial to cool every time I finished a piece of hair, a button or switch would make it so much easier! Overall a good product that I see myself using often in the future.

Efficient and Lightweight Dryer / Curler

I'm a big fan of the Hot Tools Pro hair dryer, so I was really excited to try the Hot Tools Pro Artist Protect & Style One-Step Detachable Dryer and Curler as a way to style my hair more quickly and limit heat damage. My hair is shoulder length and fine and tends to tangle easily. The root dryer attachment seemed meant for those with long thick hair, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it helped me avoid tangles (and frizz) and was light weight enough to make using a round brush and the dryer a little easier.

I like to use a curling iron to create beach waves, and unfortunately found that the barrel that came with the dryer was a little too large for this purpose. I liked not having first blow dry and then curl, though it took me a couple of tries to figure out when to switch from the drying attachment to the curler (for curling, the hair should be a little damp, but not excessively wet). I think this tool would be ideal for someone with longer (and likely thicker) hair.

As mentioned above, the tool itself is very lightweight. It's great for minimizing arm fatigue, but I do wonder how long it will hold up. My traditional Hot Tools dryer seems a little sturdier.

I was given this hair tool to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and overall I think it's a great dryer for minimizing tangles. I can dry more quickly because I'm able to use a higher fan setting. Additionally, I like that it's possible to buy separate attachments, and I've purchased (not provided by the Stellar Product Testing Panel) the round brush attachment to try.

2 in 1 hair styling

I was given this hair tool to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. It arrived really well packaged and nothing was out of place, made me excited to try what immediately appeared to be a nice quality product that wasn't going to fry my hair. Let me start by describing my hair. I'm Asian with thick black hair that naturally curls or waves outward when I cut it any shorter than shoulder length. My hair is incredibly stubborn to dry at the roots or curl, let alone make curls that don't fall flat within 2 hrs. This product comes with an attachment that actually managed to get to my roots pretty easily to dry. I love how easy it is to change the attachment heads and it dint take a genius to figure it out even without looking at instructions. The hair curling function took a little getting used to because I'm not used to wind blowing at a curl I'm trying to set, and baby hairs and stray hairs kept popping out. Also as I mentioned I have thick hair so what I thought was a reasonable amount of hair to curl at a time took too long for my preference to fully dry and curl. I tried the cool shot function, but honestly it was a little too warm for me to really consider it a cool shot. That being said, this didn't become my favorite go to curling set, but realized how awesome this is for me to take for business trips. Hair dryers at hotels are bacteria breeding grounds and this hair tool allowed me to dry my roots properly and even give my hair a nice wave. I think for people with finer hair, this would be awesome, but for my thick hair it didn't quite give me the curl and necessary cool shot to set a long lasting curl. This worked really well to style my husband's hair though. He has thick hair and went through a phase of wanting to grow his hair out a bit. My husband HATES blow drying his hair but is prone to dandruff. This hair tool allowed me to style his hair easily with minimal fuss and I even got to dry it while giving his roots some volume! All in all this has become a tool I really appreciate, but admittedly it won't be my go to tool for long lasting curls, but I don't think that's the point of this hair styling tool anyways.
