Genuinely Love It

Okay so I used to suck at doing my hair, always struggled with my curls dropping BUT after a lot of trial and error+ finding the right products and using this iron, my curls look amazing. I always get compliments on how bouncy & effortless my curls look whenever I use it (I bought the 1 1/4 inch barrel). If you're finding your curls aren't staying I highly doubt it's because of the iron, maybe switch up your products or make sure you're curling your hair correctly cause honestly this iron is salon quality

works amazingly. if your curls aren't staying, thats on you

Works amazingly. I went to beauty school and worked at a salon. First, you need to use a heat protectant if you want any integrity left in your hair follicles. Second, hair masks do wonders to keep your hair healthy after all that blow drying and styling.

Moreover, I see some people saying it doesn't work. First of all, curls don't hold in some peoples hair. Thats on you. Another reason why is that if your hair is so fried beyond belief and you need the hottest setting to curl it, then your hair is already very damaged. Its best not to go above 200 degrees if you have thin hair, and you can get away with 200-300 for thick hair, but its still not ideal. If you regularly are unable to creat a curl and are using the highest setting on this, then yes your hair will be fried and curls with most irons won't take to it because your hair follicle is literally dried, fried, shattered, and destroyed.

Now back to the iron, its amazing. It works perfectly every single time. Its wonderful for 60-90s hairstyles. When using a curling iron, let it preheat, and then when you're going to curl a strand, choose a piece that isn't too thick each time. Skim over the strand once to preheat the strand, then go back in again and curl that same strand. It will stay longer that way and you won't be frying your hair to a crisp. Beauty hurts but it doesn't have to be burnt and crispy.

Best irons for straight, curl resistant hair.

I've had this 1.25" size for about 5 years and love it, Never had an issue at all in over 5 years. Recently the clamp has started to stick a little and gets stuck open and the barrel is discolored so I'm here to buy a new one. It heats quickly and makes perfect big curls that last most of the day. It gets HOT. I've burned my neck several times accidentally with just a quick tap…. And then had to go a week explaining the "hickey" on my neck. So be careful. It's not a complaint though at all. I need a hot iron to make curls stay in my stock straight hair. These are the best! If you have curl resistant hair this is the perfect iron for you!

Not the normal Hot Tools quality

I am a Hot Tools curling iron loyalist & have been for years... but this one is disappointing. The clamp gets stuck & doesn't seamlessly open/close, which I could get over if the rest of the iron was as great as expected, but sadly no. I also find that the heat setting is weird... I never heat above about 300 & have never had issues (in fact, my other hot tools curling irons are the ONLY ones that can get my hair to hold a curl at all) but with this one my hair almost immediately loses the curl. I've tried increasing the heat but same issue, plus I don't want to fully fry my hair. I had high hopes for big, loose curls but I'm definitely returning this item.

Best Curling Iron Ever

The first Hot Tools curling iron I purchased lasted 8 years. No exaggeration. I have long, thick, slightly wavy hair that looks crazy air dried. After using the curling iron, even for ten minutes, my hair looks 1,000 times more polished. And the curl lasts days. Sure you to touch up around your face or the back if you've slept on it, but I've gone 6 days just touching up curls or letting it look like loose waves and adding dry shampoo. This curling iron will always be the one I buy. It's the best!

I'll stick to Bedhead wands

My sister has been loyal to hot tools since I can remember. She has purchased several of 1" curlers so I decided to try the 1 1/4". She's used mine before and mentioned that it works differently from the one she owns. She's purchase at least 4-5 over the years because she loves this thing so much. I bought my 1 1/4" iron several years ago and have not used it much. I've used it a handful of times and used it just today. I struggled so much with the curling clamp because my hair just slips out. I ended up just wrapping my hair around it and I got a way better curl. I know you can use these both ways but next time I'll stick to the Bedhead wands. They're cheap and they hold my curl every time. This curler is not bad but they've definitely gotten cheaper over the years. Bedhead has never done me wrong and most of the wands are $29.99. I'll probably end up giving this away since I purchased it so long ago. It gets the job done but it's a pain to deal with.

I Always Buy This Product Again

Best iron I've used, mainly because it doesn't pull at my hair. Of course, the area where the cord swivels, at the bottom end of the iron, does catch hair and eventually gets clogged up. The cord also tangles terribly while using it, so constantly have to stop and untangle it to keep going.

I just bought my fourth replacement, because I used it about every day and things do break down over time, and it always has the same issues, but they're manageable compared with the quality and utility of the product and the job it does.

burned my hair off & stopped working after!

Ok, i'm not one to leave reviews often but for the sake of other people's hair--i need to warn! I LOVED this curling iron. I used the 1 1/4" size and it created beautiful shiny & bouncy curls! I used it plenty of times within the couple months I had it UNTIL it burned off my hair :( At first, i thought it was because i had it at a high temperature (which wasn't even that high) but I still lowered it. I tried another small section of my hair and I started seeing fumes. I got scared and without even trying to untangle from the barrel--MY HAIR WAS STUCK/BURNED TO THE BARREL.

So then, I was dumb enough to think that if I just disconnected it and reheated it would go back to normal. I was so wrong, it burned off another piece. It was at the lowest heat temp but the barrel was SO HOT.

Not long after, my sister tried using it again but only this time it never turned on.

In conclusion, it burned off my hair & completely malfunctioned after a couple months of use. I want to buy it again because i loved the way it curled my hair but afraid it would malfunction on me again :( I gave it two stars because it did perform nicely at first!

Great!

I got this in yesterday. I got the 3/4 curling iron just to try something different. It curled my hair really fast. I also didn't use hair spray and it held a curl for about 5-6 hours (that's as long as I was out so I can't say for anything longer then that) I don't know how I feel about smaller curls but I did love the curler. It also came with replacement parts Incase I think the clamp gives out which I thought was really really weird. This makes them look like they aren't 100% sure about the quality of their curling iron.

So Frustrated! Product not what it used to be!

I have been using this brand for years with great satisfaction until this last year. I have probably owned 2 to 3 of these irons in the past ten years. About a year ago I had to replace so I purchased a new one same model; it lasted less than 7 months and stopped heating; Ultra replaced with the same model; it lasted 3 months and stopped heating. I was out of town so I had to replace with an off brand, and now I am back home and the stores are closed because of the virus; so I am hoping when they open I will be able to get a refund. I have no idea what has happened to your product but it is really a shame as I liked the way it worked with my hair. You must be doing something different. Definitely would not recommend. A gal needs to have a dependable product; just not good when it fails and you have no backup. Bad hair day indeed! I have baby fine hair and it needs lots of help to look good.
