Manic Panic Flash Lightning 40 Volume Complete Maximum Hair Lightening Kit 3-stars Reviews
This did alright, but
This did alright, but there are some really big issues in my opinion. First, this box was not enough to die my thin, porous, shoulder length hair. I have never required two boxes, but I would have with this. Definitely keep in mind when purchasing. Second, the jug they give you for mixing is not appropriately large enough to mix in without spillage. Be sure to have a larger mixing bowl on hand (plastic only!) to use for your bleach mixing.
Good if you want blonde hair, not platinum
Not for use if you want platinum WHITE hair however, I do like this product line. The mixing bowl it comes with is VERY small which makes it hard to effectively mix the product well, so I'd make sure you have your own bowl. Also, I like the brush, but if you have a lot of hair, I'd buy a bigger brush. Being 40Vol you need to work fast. I have long, thick, course, platinum hair. First application, I used 2 boxes on just my roots, let sit for 2 hours, and then washed out. I would not recommend 2hrs but I do not have a sensitive scalp, kept it fully saturated, bag over my head, kept checking it. I then had to use 2 toning masks (1 blue & 1 purple) for several hours each in my hair, & then rebleached my roots with 20vol, higher quality bleach. After that, I "Toned it" with a purple shampoo. & Now 2 weeks later I still have to buy toner for my roots. This is my first time using this bleach kit. Normally I only have to bleach & tone once within a week & I am done. I'm a product junkie so I thought I'd give it a shot! I will admit that to "normal people" they say my hair is white, but anyone who is platinum and picky like me, all you see is yellow LOL I would recommend this product but for VERY small outgrowth, touch ups, for blonde hair results (not white), or use prior to then coloring your hair a fun color :) I also would recommend this if you are someone who has hair that lifts fast (just careful with 40vol) or whose roots are lighter.
Does the job, but includes false advertisment
The bleach itself does what it's supposed to (and works nicely, at that) but the box mentions using the "enclosed gloves" and "enclosed plastic cap," neither of which are, ironically, enclosed. No cap, no gloves. Luckily I opened the box to check the materials out before I intended on doing my hair and was able to purchase those items separately. Looking at the reviews, I'm clearly not the only person with this experience and I'm hesitant to trust Manic Panic as a brand again.
Pretty decent
Bleach was a bit uneven, but I am unsure if it was just the application of my friend or the quality of the bleach! Super easy to mix, color lifted fairly easily. Overall pretty happy, and I will probably use this bleach again. I wish there was a smaller size to use, since I have a partially shaved head. I had lots left over, and I hate to waste but didn't really have any other option.
When used properly...
When used properly this bleach works well. It effectively removes all colors from your hair, leaving it a nice light shade of blonde. HOWEVER it significantly dries out your hair more than other brands of bleach I have used and my hair was left feeling very dry and looking lackluster for about two weeks.
This is 40 vol. bleach...
This is 40 vol. bleach so it's pretty damaging to hair. My hair is very very dark and thick so I needed this vol. to have an effect. If you have a lot of hair you'll need more than one of these, but I would recommend just going to the salon. It can turn very orange, and unless you're coloring your hair too, you might not want that look.
Wish I would have read...
Wish I would have read the instructions better but there were a lot. I was bleaching my hair before adding Manic Panic Watermelon color. I got scared and rinsed out when the roots were blonde but the ends still had color. I would recommend sticking with a professional or having someone guide you who has done it before.
I wasn't a fan of this...
I wasn't a fan of this bleach kit. Manic Panic is a great brand, but I found this kit to lack quality. It seemed kind of cheap and not as effective as other brands. Also a higher price point for a Lower quality product... not my favorite.
This product is ok,...
This product is ok, but damaged my hair especially since o have curly hair. Its not as hair damaging as most stuff ive tried out there. I love keeping my hair as light as possible so I can dye it purple over it. Purple dye also works as a great toner so it works both ways!
Manic Panic is and...
Manic Panic is and oldie but a goodie type product for me.Its cheap, gets the job done, and the instructions are so easy to follow. The smell is very strong though but it is bleach so that's expected. My normal hair color is dark brown and it's very thick so I normally use two kits to start the color changing process going, taking a week or 2 break then 2 more kits to really lighten it.Then I usually dye it a bright fun color
Waste
I used this on my already blonde hair and saw almost no difference. My roots are yellow. I've been bleaching for a while now and I followed all the instructions. Go to Sallys and get the Ion creme bleach and developer. Its a couple bucks more but its very gentle and I actually see results every time.
Worked perfectly
Great product, did what I wanted just the downside is the tub to mix the bleach and developer is messy and the brush it came with does not work well for thick and long hair. Otherwise the product did awesome, will use again.
