Love & Hate Relationship

So I decided to use a different bleach product instead of my usual product and decided to use this. The instructions were super easy to follow, kinda hate how small the bowl is but I had to use since my cousin lost my mixing bowl & the brush felt cheap and breakable but surprisingly didn't (yet). Now the application wasn't smooth at all but that might've been my fault for not applying the whole bottle so definitely don't do what I did. But besides that only one side of my hair came out good, the rest was just disappointing. I used tin foil instead of the cap so it'll be faster but for some reason it didn't work on the upper part of my hair only the tips. I'm use to dying others hair not my own but I'll buy this product once more since I do like the tips results.

I have naturally dark

I have naturally dark brown hair, and at the time I first used this product, I'd wanted to change my hair color from dyed black to pastel purple and pink. To do this I knew I was going to need a strong enough bleach but didn't want to blow my budget since I had so many other products to buy. I normally don't recommend Manic Panic but this bleach did what I needed it to well enough that my hair looked light blonde throughout before I moved on to dyeing it again. It did take two applications to do this though. If you have lighter hair, you will NOT need a second application.

Best box bleach but...

The 40 Vol Manic Panic bleach is the best box lightener I've used for my hair. I have very dark brown, almost black, hair, and a lot of bleaches - especially with vol 20 developers - don't lift me more than maybe 2 or 3 shades, and I get stuck in the wonderful red/orange phase. THIS however gets me from my natural to a nice light blonde (so from about level 3 to level 10) in one sitting!

The only issue I've come across, is with my last 2 purchases, as the developer in both have had foam coming out of the closed bottles? Now, my hair is highly stubborn, the developer still mixed with the powder well, and my hair didn't seem to be anymore damaged that it normally is after a bleaching. SO I'm not sure if the developer was expired or not? There's no dates anywhere on either boxes, so I have no way of knowing. But, again, it still bleached my hair and didn't make my hair fall out or anything, which is why the foam only takes off 1 star.

I love Manic Panic,

I love Manic Panic, this is an excellent kit and it didn't irritate my scalp or fry my hair. I would definitely recommend it to anyone dying their hair. I just wish they made larger sizes, it is very small.

Really user friendly, has

Really user friendly, has all the materials needed including a bowl and brush which is super helpful! Pretty good quality bleach and not as pungent of a smell as some other hair bleaches. Would definitely recommend.

Surprisingly effective

I have BLACK hair! And I meant B L A C K!!! My hair dressers over the years, asian or not, all made comments about how black my hair is LOL

I never have luck trying to lighten my hair! I've bleached it couple times in my life, and every single time it ended with my scalp hurts or burns or my eyes just waters because of the fume no matter how/where/what they do, I do have pretty sensitive skin in general. But I was ok the whole process.

Recently after the pandemic, I have no really color my hair for a year, I just feel like changing it up without going to salon, so I figured I'll just try this.

I have thick hair slightly longer than shoulder length so I bought two boxes, and it's pretty good amount to cover everything.

20 minutes into it, my hair is already gotten so light I'm pleasantly surprised! But that also is kinda of a double edge sword cuz I have not done applying to my whole head which made it pretty uneven! But that's something I kinda know would've happened since I'm not a pro anyway! I'm hoping in a month when I do this the second time, when it's so light it'll be more even since they should be almost white.

My hair is rather healthy when I started with this, I can feel my hair gotten flat and don't have the bouncy-ness anymore after bleaching. Again, this is expected since no bleach is really good for any hair anyway. There's some breakage too but not too bad.

I do prep my scalp with oil and protection treatment well before going in, and I suggest everybody to do so, it won't hurt!

Worked Well

The bleach worked really well on my roots, and lightened the rest of my hair very well. However, even after stirring the mixture for about two minutes, it still was not the ideal consistency. After letting it sit for a minute, it thickened, but was still not the right texture. Still, the product works, and I recommend using the forty volume, then a ten or twenty volume to fully lighten your hair.

Pretty good

The bleach did the job and lightened my hair. I would warn that its a very small amount and even though I was doing a spit dye it wasnt even enough (I have to fill in the roots in multiple places and its still a dark yellow/brown in places). If you have long hair and/or are doing your full head I would recommend you get 2-3 boxes.

Pretty good bleach for...

Pretty good bleach for what it is. It lightened my hair from natural black to a yellowish blonde. The only issue I have with it is that I didnt realize how little it would be. For a full head, I recommend 2-3 boxes of this. I enjoyed how it had a brush and a mixing tub included in the box so you dont have to purchase them separately.

worked well, but buy two!

it worked really well and lightened my level 3 hair to a level 6 after 45 minutes, but it ended up patchy because i only bought one kit and it wasn't enough for my hair- and i may have thick hair, but it's only shoulder length. i recommend this product, but make sure you buy 2 packages!

Really convenient if...

Really convenient if you don't have enough money to afford a salon trip but you're too impulsive (like me) to wait for a new hair color. The smell is kind of strong, but it works well. Just don't leave it on too long; check it frequently. It works faster than you might think!

Long time user and lover but HATE the new smaller container

I have been using MP 40V for decades and I love it. I also have too-healthy hair - the kind that refused to take perms when those were cool, and often when professionals bleach my hair they go through at least 3 sessions of a weaker volume with less time than I do and my hair never gets as light as it would need to for the color it should. Or color applications fade extremely quickly even with color depositing shampoo and conditioners because the strands aren't porous enough to accept the initial dye in the first place. I use MP 40V on my virgin hair, which is about a level 2 or 3 (somewhere between a super dark brown and black) and add a bunch of blue tinted protein filler while I'm mixing it. I leave it on for somewhere between 60-90 minutes before washing it out for round 1, which takes me down to about a 7, though a bit patchy sometimes with bits nearer to a level 6 at my scalp and a level 8 at my roots. After rinsing it out and then applying an Ion Pre-Color Treatment Packet mixed with bottled water for 2 minutes and rinsing that out, I then shampoo with color-safe shampoo with my blue protein filler added to it along with a couple drops of green Punky Color Depositing Shampoo and a packet of "Unred Hair Color Additive" mixed in, which tones and heals my hair during the shampoo process, and follow with a purple conditioner. I then do a second round the next day if I am in a rush (if not I do an oil mask for a few days) to even it out starting at the darker bits (as opposed to being rigid about sections if I am doing my whole head) and doing the lightest bits last. I leave it on for up to an hour depending on how long it took to apply the bleach. When I am light enough, usually aiming for a 9 but it can be hard to tell with how orange it gets when I bleach prior to toning, I repeat the process from the first bleach and follow the steps to color.

Are used to this on my...

Are used to this on my sisters hair and she has never had her hair colored before but it was super easy to follow direction wise without overly damaging your hair no matter what type of brand or salon we go to initially bleaching your hair is still damaging it but after conditioning it was just fine I definitely would purchase this again.

I love manic panic...

I love manic panic products so when I seen this I had to try it the only thing I would say is if you have never bleached ur own hair don't buy this and do it your self have someone that has done it before do ur hair. My first time using this I used gloves and couldn't tell if I got all my hair then it was completely uneven in color some blond some orang the second time I didn't wear gloves and it came out amazing actually prefer this over other box bleaches.

It's hair bleach,...

It's hair bleach, nothing special. It does the job and isn't the hardest to work with. Instructions are very clear and they try to make application as easy as they can. I trusted this brand as bright hair colour is their bag and assumed the bleach would be one of the better ones. I wasn't impressed nor unimpressed with it to be honest.

i used to use this all...

I love this product! I...

I love this product! I bought it because I wanted to dye my hair hot pink for the summer. I have black hair and this got me to the blonde I needed in order for the color to be in full effect. I highly recommend this product and its fairly priced. Its about 10-12 bucks. Very worth it, very affordable, great product !

This works really well...

This works really well and does get my dark hair very blonde not orange. The price is pretty good. I pick this up whenever I can. I do recommend doing a hair conditioner and leaving in over night after you bleach, otherwise breakage is pretty easy with this product.
