Olay Mini Regenerist Retinol24 +Peptide Night Moisturizer 1-star Reviews
Retinol burn on the first try
I bought this earlier this week and tried it out the first night. I noticed a tingling sensation right away, but thought nothing of it. The next morning I woke up to painful, cracking, red, swollen skin all over my face. I wouldn't have imagined retinol burn would be possible by using so little and only on the first try, but clearly I was wrong. It is now five days later and I still cannot apply anything to my face without the swollen redness reappearing. It burns almost nonstop, and I've had to use ice packs to fill the sensation. This is definitely not something I would recommend. I wish there were a warning on the packaging so people could know the risk before buying.
Over-priced, average product
I contacted Olay when they stopped offering Pro-X Dermatological Anti-Aging Age Repair Lotion to see what the replacement was. They claimed it was this. IT ISN'T. I bought 3 jars thinking they must know what was equivalent, but this is no better than a cheap cream (which they charge as a premium product). For the first time in 40+ years, I am looking for another product, as all their 'new' products are over-priced hype creams that don't work. I've used Olay since Jr High, but not anymore. I don't mind paying more for a product that WORKS (like the Pro-X line did), but I don't like being price gouged.
Serious breakouts and oily sticky
I give up on this product. I followed the regimen of using the daily facials and I use the moisturizer. It felt smooth going on then about an hour later a heavy sticky feeling occurred. Later in the day my face is red and looks like I rubbed crisco all iver my face. I also used it at night and in the morning my face was covered in pimples like I was a teenager again. I stopped using the moisturizer for awhile and skin was fine, went back to it and the same thing occurred. Maybe this is an old jar I bought? Or maybe the skin adviser advised me incorrectly
Olay regenerist Retinol 24 retinol facial cleanser
I received my free full size sample from PINCHme in March for OLAY Regenerist. Retinol24 retinol facial cleanser. I began using this product immediately along with another retinol24 olay product.
I was immediately impressed with the no fragrance, parabens and no synthetic dyes. There was also really no lathering even though it does an awesome job cleaning and exfolating the skin.
I used the product for a full month and am excited to finally start using Olay products my mother who is in her 80s has been using since the 70s.
As a 61 year old woman who has spent most of my life on the ocean I was looking for skin care products for age and sun damaged.
The olay Regenerist 24 face wash will continue to be part of my daily skin care routine. Thank you PINCHme samples!!!
Allergic Reaction
I had used this product for several years and liked the feel of it on my skin, although I'm not sure it was any more effective than a store brand lotion. I had tried another Olay product, and when it was gone, I switched back to Regenerist. Within an hour my nose started running, and my eyes started burning and became so watery that tears were running down to my chin. It took this happening several days in a row before I tied it to Regenerist use. I discontinued use for a week and had no allergy symptoms. I tried it again today and had the same nose and eye problems. After I rewashed my face and applied a different lotion, my symptoms disappeared. I realize this is merely anecdotal, but I can't help but wonder if Regenerist is what has made my allergies generally worse over the last several years. I'll definitely be staying away from it in the future.
Just a big NO
I am so extremely disappointed. I've been using Olay products for about 40 yrs. with never an issue. Whip is a complete miss. My face doesn't feel moisturized at all. The product just lays on top of my skin. The name infers that it's just a ligher consistency of another great product, it's not… very chalk-like and heavy consistency. I really gave it a chance and used it for a few weeks but still am not satisfied. Now it's too late to return. I even bought two because there was a '2nd at half-off special' - that's how much I was convinced I would love it. Worst face cream I've ever tried,
don't bother.
Help! Getting Brown Spots after using this
After reading many great reviews about this retinol cream, I decided to give it a try. But after less than two weeks of using this, not only did I not notice any differences in my skin, the minor brown spots on my forehead and face are now darker and more noticeable. I thought this is suppose to help with that, but now I see brown spots and discoloration on the left and right sides of my forehead and some parts of my face. Why is this happening? I haven't been expose to the sun much at all. This is so disappointing and causing me more stress than helping.
Caused severe eye reaction
To start I have never had sensitive skin and wear make up on a daily basis. I would say my skin never really reacts to any new products but oh boy was I in for a surprise when I tried this cream. I used it only twice ( at night for two nights) and on the morning of the third day I woke up with swollen, itchy, red, wrinkly, and puffy under eyes and eyelids. The rest of my face was a little bumpy and itchy as well. I could not believe it and knew it had to of been from that cream since that was the only difference I have made in my skin care regimen. It is now over three weeks since my skin reacted and I still have major discoloration under my eyes. I was in a great deal of discomfort and it was honestly a horrible experience. I can promise you I will never be trying another product from this company because this experience was horrifying.
Not for my skin!
I bought this cream about a month ago for my mom since she tried the regenerist whipped cream with spf & she loved how that was working on her skin. But I'm not sure if the ingredients in this or the fact that it has the retinol had caused her to have her sun spots darken & her skin got irritated red marks. Especially along the cheeks & chin area. I looked up online & it said that could be an effect of the product being too strong for her. I don't recommend this for sensitive skin. My mothers 56/ Hispanic olive skin with combination skin.
I tried!
My mom started using this and loved it so I thought I might try it too. I started twice a week and had the retinol purge. A few weeks later I went to everyday to see if my skin would just get over it. That didn't work either. I just ended up very dry, red, peeling skin that would burn. I quit using it until my skin was fully healed again. I tried one last time and woke up with a blotchy redness over my face and neck that itches like crazy. I have no problem with the collagen peptide version and love that. But this one is horrible for me. I wish I could use it but it's either too strong or I'm allergic to something.
Major peeling
After using this for a few nights, my face is peeling so badly. It looks as though I had a microdermabrasion treatment done. My skin is shedding like crazy and is super dry. This product has also caused a few pimple-like breakout as well as red patches on my face and neck. I also noticed a burning sensation when I applied this on my face. I don't think that is normal. I have normal skin and nothing like this has ever happened when trying a new product/moisturizer. I'm amazed at the number of raving reviews. Glad it's worked for many, but my skin has totally rejected this product. It's a big fat NO for me.
Directions for Use are USELESS!!!
I purchased this product and Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Facial Moisturizer at the same time. This is my first foray into using products with retinol in them. I am SHOCKED by the lack of proper instructions on the packaging. Due to their ineptitude, I can't use ANY products on my face right now, even cleansers. Everything burns and stings. EVERYTHING.
Conclusions:
1) To properly start to use retinol, it is recommended that you start slow, applying one dose daily or even only once every 2-3 days. Nowhere on this packaging does it recommend this.
2) All moisturizers should be applied to freshly cleaned skin. Nowhere does it recommend cleaning your skin before applying (not doing so causes build up which prevents the second moisturizer (e.g. day/night moisturizer) to not absorb (I was scraping it off with my fingernails when I itched my face).
3) The packaging warns to stop using if you develop a rash but says NOTHING about if your skin starts to burn or sting (which mine did) or how to address it when it does.
I am hopeful that these two products will be beneficial for me because at first, I really did like how my skin looked and it didn't feel heavy, palpable to my fingers or greasy. I have a hard time finding moisturizers that will work with my sensory issues, but I just can't forgive this level of irresponsibility on the part of the designers/manufacturers.
Burns my sensitive skin
I purchased this and the Retinol 24 serum with high hopes, but it's not going to work for me. I used a few nights with the serum. Which I learned elsewhere is a big NO NO, and burned the skin on my cheekbones. Give my face a few weeks off and started using again. I've used the night cream alone twice this week and now have burned skin again. My skin is super sensitive to everything, but I saw that others were able to use this. Not me. I don't mean that it tingles upon application. I mean I have ry patchy welts on my face where the retinol has burned my skin.
Literally burnt my face and neck
Every time I put this on, at least one area of my face or neck would get itchy and irritated. But the other areas would feel softer and smoother, so I figured it was just the adjustment and it would stop. But after 2 weeks, my neck was raw and severely itchy and one patch on my face was acting similar. I had to stop using it and switch back to my old lotion, which cleared it up in a week or 2. This is supposed to be lotion, it doesn't say it's not for sensitive skin, and it says right on it to apply to face And neck. Be very careful with this product. I think it gives you softer smoother skin by literally burning off the top layer. And that might be harmless in most people but it really messed up my skin. My neck was painfully burnt for over a week. I'm just glad it happened in lockdown so I didn't have to explain it to anybody.
Dry, tight, crepey, peeling, burning skin!
I purchased a trial size jar at Ulta. After using for 3 nights, I see no improvement in my skin. The product goes on greasy and doesn't seem to absorb, but by the next morning my skin feels powdery and dry. My neck is drier than it's ever been in my entire life, uncomfortably tight, is starting to peel, and is burning (with no redness) at 8 am the morning after use. I'm so glad I only purchased a sample size of this product. I'm 43 and instead of helping me get started on a great regimen to address aging, you made my neck crepey in 3 days!! Shame on Olay!
Very Disappointed
I've used Olay in the past with great results. I've been using a much more expensive product and liked it but wanted to find something that cost a little less. I used the skin analyzer and this product was recommended. At least for me, it's horrible. It doesn't feel like my skin is moisturized and when I put it on in the morning my foundation doesn't lay on my skin. It pills up and I have little rolls of foundation all over my face. This happens even waiting 15-20 minutes and I don't have time to do that. I ordered online and there are no returns. I was better off paying for the more expensive product. Now I have a jar of unused product that will be thrown away.
not what I expected
I bought this a few weeks ago and really had high hopes. I have used Olay products since I was 12 years old and have heard such great reviews that I would try this...definitely not for me. I apply the cream and it just sits on the skin, when I try to tap it in, it just rolls up in little chunks and falls off my face! It has also caused my face to break out, which I have never had a problem with until now. I will definately go back to using my old moisturizer, sad I wasted so much money on this.
Didn't work for me
I bought this product a month ago, and first use was disappointing. The product dried on my skin like Elmer's Glue. I thought it was a fluke, but every time ended in the same results. The product does not absorb into my skin and leaves a residue that needs to be cleaned off. I'm glad it works for others, just didn't for me. It was a lot of money for something that seems not quite right. I'm a fan of Olay products and was excited to try this, but the jar just sits now, barely used. There should be samples, so no wasted product.
If you have sensitive skin stay away
I was looking for a good night cream. I'm 48 and and thought I would try Olay with retinol. At first it felt fine. I liked the thickness and the way it went on my skin. BUT after a week my skin started drying out, getting red and peeling. My skin actually turned hard in spots and looked and felt like I had been burned. After a couple of days it really started peeling and the skin underneath looks good but man, no one should have to go through this unless your paying and wanting a chemical peel. Good thing I was quarantined.
Not for sensitive skin
Do not use if you have sensitive skin. I've used Olay products before and decided to try this new one. My skin felt incredibly smooth the first couple of days. I started to notice red blotches and didn't discontinue. The skin on the red blotches started to peel so I stopped using it. Too late. My skin continued to peel and now I look like a burn victim. My go to Clinique yellow moisturizer burns. I tried bio oil, argan oil and even primer. Everything except cool water burns. I'm embarrassed to leave my house.
