Olay Mini Regenerist Retinol24 +Peptide Night Moisturizer 2-stars Reviews
Retinol24 + Peptide Night Face Moisturizer
I am 74 years old and a decades Oil of Olay customer. I am needing a bit more assistance with the wrinkles! The Retinol24 + Peptide Night Face Moisturizer is light weight, with no fragrance. However, it makes my skin peel (flakes) and pill (after it has been on my face for several hours). I have quit using it around my eyes because of a burning sensation and the flaking. It may be because I have "older" thinner skin. I use it with the Regenerist (sp) serum. Jury is still out on a recommendation..... Fair at the moment.
Rich but Irritates Sensitive Skin
I rated this 3 stars because it does have a silky, rich quality that may be appreciated by people with normal insensitive skin. However, I have sensitive dry skin so I need something rich that will not irritate. This moisturizer was fine the first night and my skin felt hydrated, though it also felt like there was a thin film left on my skin. After the second night of using this product I broke out with 5 tiny whiteheads which is not typical for me with the skincare products I usually use. It seems like the film left behind after the product is absorbed can clog sensitive pores.
Would not bother
I tried this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I tried this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
This comes in a cute little bottle with a screw top lid for freshness and less mess. You use your finger or a small makeup scoop to apply. Then you rub into your face. It's slightly oily and doesn't rub in all the way for me. It doesn't prevent me from getting a sunburn so the spf is not high enough. It also smells weird to me like a burning plastic smell covered up by floral tones. It didn't do much for moisture levels in my facial skin either. Seems pretty pointless to me to feel greasy for no benefit.
No. Just no.
I tried this product for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I wanted to like this moisturizer so much but I really hated it. It has vitamins, peptides, sunscreen, and moisturizer all rolled into one. The ultimate multitasker, or so I thought.
The packaging is pretty nice. For plastic, it feels pretty hefty. I found myself wishing the packaging was more plain and minimalist though. The packaging feels kind of outdated.
The product itself was very lightweight and fluffy when I opened the jar. I applied the product to a clean, dry face. While I applied it, I noticed that it felt a lot like a pore filling makeup primer. It had that powdery feeling with a silicone-like slip. Upon application it immediately dried out my skin. I didn't feel any moisture at all. As I was applying it, the product was pilling and flaking off.
I usually like fragrances in my skincare products but this moisturizer was too perfumed for me. It is not a very modern fragrance at all. It stuck to my skin for quite awhile.
The second ingredient is tapioca starch. I suspect this ingredient is what gives it the slightly fluffy texture. Unfortunately it also dried out my skin as tapioca starch is known to wick away moisture. I feel like there weren't enough beneficial ingredients to make up for the scent, texture, and level of moisture it provided. The fifth ingredient is dimethicone so if you apply this product and try to put foundation on top you might have problems with it pilling up.
This might be nice for someone who wants a minimal skin care routine and also likes the feel of a pore filling primer. Honestly though, this is one to skip.
Sparkly particles cause whiteheads
I bought this 5 days ago and have been using it in the morning under my moisturizer, and it has given me whiteheads--I'm 53 years old and WAY past the age where this happens to my skin! I looked carefully at the serum and saw that it has reflective/sparkly microparticles in it. I avoid all products like this because I've had experience before with these "illuminating and brightening" ingredients. I'm incredibly disappointed that OLAY has included this ingredient that does not CORRECT or TREAT skin, but instead adds a surface luminescence that leads to clogged pores and whiteheads! I've had good results with other OLAY serums that are no longer on the market apparently. I wish you could replace this with something without this ingredient, or at least label your product so that I 'd know to avoid it.
I really wanted to like this ...
I read the rave reviews and I really wanted to like this reasonably affordable retinol containing cult classic night cream. unfortunately, no matter what I do, it always leaves a really gross filmy residue after it dries. when it first goes on, it feels pretty velvety and rich, but eventually it dries and if I rub it at all it will just pill right off. It just makes me feel gross and grimy. It's really disappointing because I really wanted to like this, but I couldn't even get through half of the jar and I just threw it out. I never throw out beauty products... so this was a huge disappointment for me. I will be looking for another replacement now.
Doesn't absorb on my skin, pills up
I had high hopes but disappointed. unfortunately, it didn't work well for me and I won't repurchase in the future.
Positives: I really love the floral/fresh scent and think it smells very nice and sweet. I didn't think it was "too strong" but if you're sensitive to perfumes it may be bothersome/irritating as I read some users said it was too strong/overpowering for them.
The cream is soft and thick and a little bit goes a long way so the product amount could last a long time. And it has a more affordable price tag than many other similar high quality skincare brands and products which is wonderful, especially for those (like me!) who don't like to spend too much on beauty products.
On the negative side, unfortunately no matter how I adjusted my other skin care products in regimen it just doesn't absorb into my skin well enough at all, which not only caused those little under the skin bumps to appear from the excess oil it also pilled up very badly.
Regenerist Whip Fragrance Free Disappointment
I tried the regular Olay Regenerist Whip Face Moisturizer and absolutely loved it! It went on so velvety and foundation was easy to apply over it. The only thing I was not crazy about was the heavy scent, so when I ran out, I decided to try the Fragrance Free version. Big mistake! This does not feel the same at all. It has a more gel consistency rather than a cream. After you put it on, your skin feels really dry and foundation does not go on very well. Very disappointed in this product. I did not expect the lack of fragrance to alter the consistency and feel of the moisturizer.
Red itchy reaction!
Oil of Olay is my favorite skincare line. Since I am aging I decided to try their Regenerist line. I felt like I was treating myself. The packaging is beautiful, it smells amazing, and glides on smoothly. But, 'Oh my holy mother of Moses' it made my face itch. I even tried it one more time hoping it would illicit a different response. This time my face turned red and the itching was more severe. Oil of Olay, my precious company, why have you turned on me? I just want to be forever young without a red itchy face!
Great For Some; Not So Much for Me.
I bought two jars of this for my Mother and I to try as we have both heard of how great the product is. My Mother absolutely loves the cream. I, on the other hand, developed skin burn that has been flaking and peeling off after three nights of use. I suddenly have wrinkles under my eyes that were never apparent before, and am not sure if they'll go away once the damage from the product wears off. My skin is dry and painful to the touch, and I can't put any-thing else on my face because of how much damage it caused to my face. If you have sensitive skin, think twice before trying this product. There have been a couple of other brands that have burned my skin, but nothing to this extent after just three uses. I am giving it two stars solely because my Mum really liked it, but for me, it's sadly a one-star product.
Ok for a night cream...
Based on the amount of positive comments I decided to try. Unfortunately my experience was similar to that of the negative comments. And honestly at $30 this wasn't a bargain. This moisturizer sits on top of your skin and doesn't penetrate. I even tried waiting an hour to apply my makeup. Because this stays sticky on your skin, it makes your makeup separate and look horrible. I've been fortunate enough to try top of the line products and honestly I'd strongly recommend trying a different product. There are so many better products in this price range that will deliver better results.
Beware: pills like CRAZY
This cream feels lovely when you first feel it in your hands and I love that it has niacinamide (great ingredient!), BUT beware: I think due to the high amount of silicone (dimethicone) in this product, it balls up like CRAZY. If I start rubbing this in at all, it starts to pill and roll off of my face immediately. It's actually pretty gross. Just because I hate wasting product, I've been using this on other areas of my body and just pressing it in lightly, not rubbing in at all otherwise the same thing happens. Not sure if others have the same issue as me with this product or if my skin just hates dimethicone.
Disappointing
I received this cream and put it in for the first time last night. I did not like the way the cream pills on your face. My face felt dry afterwards and I woke up with a dry tight feeling on my face. This is so much different compared to a pricy department store brand. I thought maybe this cream would be a good substitute in between buying my expensive cream at the department store. There is no comparison. My original go to cream leaves my skin silky smooth in the morning unless this okay cream that made my skin dryer. Very disappointing! Will not be buying this cream again. I guess you get what you pay for.
Dimethicone has no place in skincare
I received the nighttime moisturizer and eye cream for free from Influenster to review, and it's not starting off strong. I've only been using it a few days, but I don't like dimethicone in my skin care, let alone being the second ingredient. Dimethicone is for smooth poreless makeup, and has no purpose being in a nighttime face cream. I don't need to look poreless while I sleep. Yes it makes your skin feel slick and smooth, but that is because of the dimethicone, and it is also trapping in any dirt or bacteria left on your skin. I have oily, acne-prone skin, and dimethicone is my nemesis, so being it is the second ingredient, makes me very wary to continue using this product.
However, I will give it the 28 days to reevaluate, unless something happens in the meantime. Stay tuned.
Not moisturizing at all
I purchased the Olay regenerist micro sculpting moisturizer and wanted a moisturizer. It doesn't moisturize at all. My skin felt dry after applying it. I use high end serums before moisturizing. I purchased Strivectin advanced tightening neck cream and the Olay regenerist for my face. I do use high end serums for my neck, face and eyes with excellent results. I was looking for a moisturizer for my face. I wouldn't recommend this product as a moisturizer at all. It may help with other skin issues, but it will not moisturize at all. I pass.

Not my cup of tea.....
I am fair skinned and have combination/ dry skin. I tried Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Face Moisturizer Cream for a little over 3 weeks. It is a thick rich cream & has a smooth texture, I found it easy to apply evenly to my face and neck with about one a large pea size of the product, a little goes a long way! I tried using the micro-sculpting cream a few different ways. Twice a day for about a week but I had a few issues. The micro-sculpting cream just didn't absorb into my skin no matter how I prepared my face. I didn't like that I felt like I was wearing a mask. When it drys down and I touched my face it turns into micro balls and rubs right off. It didn't work well underneath my makeup with in 2 hours my foundation literally melt away.I tried using it just as a night cream to see if that made a difference and I only noticed that my skin was much drier than normal and my skin was peally. I really hate to leave a negative review! I have loved every Olay Regenerist product i've ever used. Unfortunately I would not recommend this product. This Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Face Moisturizer was a complete fail for me. It didn't moisturize, I didn't see any improvement in the texture of my skin. I can say that when I was wearing it in the beginning It did help with my fine lines, I believe that it's because the product acted as a filler. I received Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream Face Moisturizer for free to test out for an Insiders campaign.
Not for me
I used this product after washing my face or taking a shower every morning and after my nighttime routine. The product spread evenly and very smoothly over my face/neck. There is actually a lot of product in the package as well, it would have lasted me a very long time. The things I did not like about this is the way it made my skin feel, it's likr it never absorbed into my skin, it just sat on top and was very tacky, it even left residue on my fingers that made everything feel disgusting when I touched it. It was not moisturizing, it made me break out, and it made me look very oily, even after using matte cream and powders. Now I did only use this for 4 days but nothing ever seemed to change and For the price point I'm surprised this product was not much better, I use a lot of olay products that are far cheaper than this item but are worlds better. I would not recommend this, I returned mine.
NO IMPROVEMENT SEEN
I'm very pleased/ my youthful& flawless complexion .I thought I couldn't get abetter complexion at my age(72yo) But I tried Regenerist micro-sculpting cream in addition to the daily cleanser& serum I'veben using regularly for years Isaw no improvement after several weeks, convincing me that my regular skin care routine was all I needed! I'm not sorry I tried another regenerist product. Now I know I'm doing the best for my skin. I might try other regenerist as they come out (& I get older) But for now the 3 products I currently use are making me very happy w/ the results I do not spend muchtime out in thesun, butuse Olay :COMPLETE lotion (w/SPF) daily Just in case I'm outside for longer than planned
Just okay
I was really excited when this product came out because I MUST use Fragrance Free and this is the only Micro-Sculpting Product that does not contain aloe. Aloe seems to be the only ingredient my facial skin is sensitive to. I agree with the first reviewer, this product does not hydrate nearly as well as the Regenerist FF serum. I was not able to use it long enough to see firming results because it made my skin look drier as the weeks went by. Would love a Fragrance Free firming product that hydrates well and does not contain aloe!
