Olay Mini Regenerist Retinol24 +Peptide Night Moisturizer 3-stars Reviews
Not loving it
I use and love other Olay products so when i bought this serum I never imagined I'd actually have an issue.
After only one use, I had tiny little whiteheads sporadically all over my face. At 50, I'm way past that.
I figured my face needed to adjust but it only got worse. After a week of use, I've come to realize that there's a particular ingredient in this Olay product that my skin can't tolerate.
Could possibly be whatever makes the serum have a pearlish, shimmery sheen.
Most serums are clear.
Okay. Not for me.
I have been using Olay Regenerist Whip as a moisturizer over Retin-A each night for about 2 weeks. The texture looks like conditioner, feels wet, and is not whipped. I like other moisturizers better because of the way they feel on my skin, even if they are more expensive. I will use the container up, but I won't buy it again. I would like to give an appreciative shout out to Oil of Olay though. I'm really pale. I'm 47. When I was a teen, I got sunburned almost every day I went outside from incidental sun exposure (my husband jokes I'm the only person he knows who burns on cloudy days). Oil of Olay was the only moisturizer with sunscreen you could find in the drug or grocery store before sunscreen was a common beauty staple. It was only SPF 15, but it allowed me to walk to class, through parking lots, or around the block without having pink or red skin that hurt when I touched it. I will always have love for the brand, but Whip isn't for me.
Product always pills on my skin
I have very good skin to start with, but wanted a retinol product to use at night. I figured I'd give Olay a try, but this moisturizer's texture is just awful. I apply on clean dry skin, no serums underneath or anything, and it still manages to pill/ball up on my skin if I massage it in for too long. The formula has so much silicone in it that it feels like it just sits on my skin instead of penetrating it and delivering the actives. I can't believe the actives actually manage to do anything with all that silicone blocking the way to the skin's layers. I will be going back to my beloved Perricone once I finish this jar.
DISAPOINTED!
I, too, like how my skin feels and I think it absorbs well without being heavy or greasy. What I DO NOT like is the pilling of the wax-like component in the cream. I thought it was me and so relieved when I read others with the same issue. It appears to be flakes but its not. It is little balls of the cream. It feels like wax build up. I thought it might have been because I used too much moisturizer (I also use the sculpturing) It's not. I have never had a problem like this before. This is what they suggested for me to use.
Too thick
I found this moisturizer to be too thick, like there isn't enough oil in it to make it easily spreadable. I love the Olay night creams and realized that I like the dimethicone in them, which this cream doesn't have. This cream doesn't feel like it really sinks in and penetrates my skin to hydrate it. I had some problems with pilling too, and the cream seemed to accumulate on my skin unless I worked hard to rub it in and checked in a mirror to make sure I got it all. It isn't the worst moisturizer in the world, but I won't be repurchasing.
Fine lines disappeared but...
Redness, burning and dull pain came with it! I have sensitive skin and have been using regenerist night cream for nearly a decade. I love the texture, smell and absorbency. However, once hearing the great reviews on Olay's new rentinol line, I hopped right out and bought it. My first two jars were just fine. I did not use them consistently each day (except for one week) and I saw viably results. However, I recently purchased 6 new jars for my sister and I and were both have redness, burning, peeling and heat in the face that is slightly uncomfortable.
I'm really upset that suddenly this is happening after the success I had with two jars earlier on. I did start to use nightly and eventually went down to just a couple days a week, but it didn't help any. Even if I don't use it for two weeks, I'll wake up red-faced in the morning. Super bummer!
Tried and true for some - acne for me
My 90 year old mom has been using this formula for decades and her skin looks amazing. I figured good for my mom, good for me, right? It feels lovely and moisturizes well but also sets up my skin for horrendous acne, including weird cystic breakouts on my chin that I've never seen before and breakouts on the side of my face. Its almost as though it's TOO moisturizing and doesn't give my skin a chance to breathe. Halfway through the 3rd jar I just stopped using it and I'm using my Retinol 24 day and night as an experiment. Chin breakout is improving. So I'm quite disappointed in how this products reacts with my skin.
3 jars, 3 different textures
I've purchased this product three times now, and I really want to love it, but I'm so confused about what texture it's supposed to be. The first jar was great—yummy-looking opaque white fluffy cream. Appearance/texture was like whipped cream and it melted instantly into my skin. Second jar, I bought the Whip with SPF—thick and gummy, but still absorbed fairly quickly. Unfortunately, it flaked and pilled on my skin after it dried, very annoying. I used about half the jar then couldn't deal with it anymore so purchased a third jar, this one non-SPF. Opened it this morning and it's sort of a translucent fluffy texture, reminds me of a whipped version of that vapor rub you use on your chest when you have a cold. It melted instantly into my skin; we'll see if it flakes and pills like the SPF. In the photo, SPF Whip's on the left, new non-SPF on the right. See the difference in texture?
I want to love it
When I first applied this I thought I was going to love it. I usually like moisturizers with silicone because they dry better on my face and at first this one went on creamy. After I rubbed it in though I noticed it had a slightly heavy feel and after a few hours pilled all over my face. I thought I was my other products with it and tried it just on it's own. Nope. I looked at the ingredients and dimethicone is the 2nd ingredient which seems high to me, I don't know. I usually don't mind it, like I said but this is so much it has a gritty texture after a while. With that being said, my face is softer the next day, but I've not used it long enough to see anything else change.
Discontinued Use
This moisturizer makes my skin feel wonderful and hydrated. Unfortunately, I need to stop using because it does not work with a foundation. This moisturizer leaves a white thick residue and when foundation is placed on top, the residue becomes quite apparent. I then have to take a tissue to wipe off. I have tried letting the moisturizer dry for a while and all types of foundation applicators, all the same result. I have switched to Olay Total Effects and that works much better with foundation. I will use up this micro-sculpting cream when I don't use foundation that day.
I'd like to retinol but I don't like the feeling
I'd like to retinol but I don't like the feeling. As with most oil of Olay products I have a hard time loving the products because it feels greasy. This product is no exception. Also the exfoliate babies feel rougher than what I'm used to on my face. Are used them in Logica the exfoliation daily exfoliants product that I use is nowhere near as rough as this one is. I am concerned about scarring if I continue to use this on top of the fact that when you start to work it in onward scan it feels oil leak and I don't like the feeling that that leaves on my face. I wanted to love this product but I don't and I unfortunately can't recommend it to anyone
Works but has flaws
I've been using this product daily for a little over a week. The first thing I noticed even after my first application is that within minutes it starts ball up and flake off whenever I touch my face. Besides that, I have noticed my complexion appears smoother and more even with reduced fine lines. Today I have noticed that my skin is just starting to break out. It may be because of this product specifically, or because my skin is not used to having a daily moisturizer yet.
Overall, I think there are better products of this price.
Just ok
I have been using this for 2 months now and here's what I've found. The texture of this cream is nice and it absorbs very quickly. The smell, though strong, is pleasant and it dissipates quickly. I disagree with the finish it leaves on your face. The claim is that its a matte finish. For me, it's a shiny finish and it comes through my loose powder foundation. I look like I'm shiny/sweaty all day. Not ideal. I also was hoping for more of a difference in the look of the fine lines on my face. No improvement at all. I'm fair skinned, 44 yrs old. I think this creme is great for someone in their mid to late 20s through their 30s.
Product Works but......
I have used both this version and the whipped and have found this same issue with both. The product works, noticeably. However, I think that the product does not keep well and is ineffective towards the end of the jar. I used it everyday, faithfully, so it was not kept too long, but when I had about a 1/8 of a jar left it simply didn't work. This problem makes it even more expensive and the price has increased quite a bit since I started using it. Now, I just throw the jar out before it's gone. Sad.
Not Quite Sure Yet
I am 30 years old and want to start on anti-aging skin products. I am about a week into using this cream and face wash. I used it twice a day the first two days, now I only use them at night. It has made my face more oily and red and I am having breakouts. I'm not sure if this is normal. Does my face need to get used to the product, or do I need another product? I am going to stick with it to see what it does to my face. My face looks better already, it just looks really oily and I can feel a thick, heavy oily layer on my face.
I received this moisturizer...
I received this moisturizer complimentary from influenster a month ago. Ive used it every night since. Now let me tell you what I think. First of all, my skin is in very good condition. Ive been using products to hydrate, brighten & clear my complexion for months. Therefore, Im unable to notice major results with certain products. For example, someone might notice a product clears up their skin whereas I wont because my skins already clear. Here are the pros I notice with this product. Its definitely hydrating! It feels like the cream is still on my face when I wake up. Thats a definite plus & very unique. The texture of the cream feels amazing and one of my favorite things about this product. It feels wonderful in my hands and on my face. Sometimes I use it on my arms and stomach because it feels nice and hydrating. Lastly, I love the size and the pricing. I feel like I can use this as an all over body lotion. Theres so much product and you only need a little for your face. Now, those are the only results I noticed. Its definitely not the best moisturizer Ive used and I havent noticed any major improvements. Im sure its a great preventative treatment for aging and wrinkles, but theres a lot of other products out there thatll work better. Thus, I wouldnt purchase this. Id like to stick with my Shiseido products. However, I might consider having one of these for an all over body lotion or back up moisturizer.
Nothing too special. I...
Nothing too special. I received this complimentary product to test out and I really gave it time to be able to give a thorough review. The texture is lightweight and absorbs right into the skin once applied. However, I found it not moisturizing enough and it didnt feel long lasting. I would apply the moisturizer after my daily night time cleanse and would always feel the need to add an oil or thicker moisturizer on top. The dry patches around my nose were still visible. It did add extra bounce and firmness to the skin when you wake up in the morning. I used this product for two weeks and my opinion has not changed on it. I feel the ingredients arent as potent for super dry skin, which I have. I will continue to use it once or twice a week but it will not replace my holy grail moisturizer. For someone who just needs a light refresher, this product will do great.
Ok downsides first. Just...
Ok downsides first. Just personal preference but I dont feel this is a very sink into your skin kind of cream, which I would prefer. It has no offensive odor. It does glide on smoothly and it has made my skin look fresh in the A.M. its only been 2 weeks so there is a lot of product left to use. You dont need to use much so it will last a long time especially since its just a night cream so that helps the wallet . I would definitely recommend it to someone to try if they felt they needed a little pick me up to their skinNight Cream by Olay, Regenerist Night Recovery Anti-Aging Face Moisturizer 1.7 oz (Pack of 12)
I was really surprised...
I was really surprised to get this product, but I was really happy to have the opportunity to try it out. The consistency of the cream is very soft and unscented which I love. It dried down on my face almost to a powdery finish. I liked this texture however when I went to rub it in my face, it pilled off my face which was not surprising considering the creams ingredients. Maybe without the dimethicone the product would work better. Otherwise it is a very nice cream and super hydrating and I will be using it nightly.

Not starting off strong. Ive only been using it a few days, but I dont like dimethicone in my skin care, let alone being the second ingredient. Dimethicone is for smooth poreless makeup, and has no purpose being in a nighttime face cream. I dont need to look poreless while I sleep. Yes it makes your skin feel slick and smooth, but it is also trapping in any dirt or bacteria left on your skin as well.
However, I will give it the 28 days to reevaluate, unless something happens in the meantime. Stay tuned.
