Olay Regenerist Retinol24 Night Serum 3-stars Reviews
Serums are normally stronger than moisturizes...
My mother knows I'm a skin care junky so she added this serum to my Easter basket! LoL. It was a nice gesture. I glanced over the ingredients and was super happy to see that Niacinamide and Peptides were included. I hopped online to check out the Retinol 24 moisturizer and noticed that the Retinol was actually higher up on the moisturizer's ingredient list. A LOT higher up. The whole point of a serum is that it's supposed to be densly packed with active ingredients... so I was bummed to see that the serum was basically a watered down version of the moisturizer. Also, with such a large amount of silicon, a lot of the retinol is going to be wasted, as it is hard for any active ingredient to reach the skin through silicones.
Silicone is pretty high...
Silicone is pretty high on the list of ingredients, as well as titanium dioxide. Im personally allergic to titanium so I was worried this would break me out; thus far, it hasnt. My other concern is the silicone: I cant imagine using silicone on your face nightly is necessarily a good idea. Its not too thick of a serum or too thin but I would say that the dropper doesnt pick up a whole lot of product which is kind of odd to me. I would need to dispense more product to cover my face/neck and thats not even being overly generous. It hasnt had any strange interactions with anything I use on my face normally. Ill keep using it, but I havent really seen any sort of difference; it could be because I havent used it long enough but I suppose well see. Im still not frankly a fan of the silicone aspect.
I have been enjoying...
I have been enjoying this product. This is a very gentle retinol product. I like the dropper style packaging. Makes it easy to use. I would like this product to be a bit more moisturizing. It has a very distinctive silicone feel which Im not a fan of. It sinks into the skin pretty nicely and I love that it is fragrance free. I have dry sensitive skin and this product did not irritate or dry my skin out. You can use this product every night and it wont dry the skin out like most retinol products do. I have been using this product for a month and honestly I have not seen much change in my skin. I still have quit a bit of product left so I will be finishing it; maybe I will see some changes then. It is a very nice serum.
For reference, I have...
For reference, I have normal/dry fair skin with post-acne marks and occasional breakouts. I've always have a bad experience with a low % of retinol from The Ordinary.
As for the Olay Retinol Serum, I love the fact that my skin did not negatively react. I had no trace of dry spots or sensitized skin.
As far as the effectiveness goes? I'm not too sure. I have been using it every night for about 3 weeks along with my Clinique moisturizing lotion. I have noticed that my skin looks less blotchy than normal and more even toned. I have some fine lines between my eyebrows and haven't noticed any sort of difference there. My skin has also been less dry lately and a touch more glowy. Again, I'm not sure if this is because of the retinol or the Clinique moisturizer or a combination of the two.
Would I recommend it to someone curious about retinols with sensitive skin? Sure.
Ok first off, I...
Ok first off, I LOVE that this doesn't have fragrance!! My skin just can't handle it and its usually so strong it ruins the experience for me. It's got some great ingredients like, niacinamide (great for clearing up skin) , an amino peptide (protects skin from the elements), glycerin (amazing hydrating) and of course retinol. I don't love that dimethicone is the second ingredient...I feel like it'll block all those great ingredients from getting in quicker. But it's got a great texture. Overall it's alright. Won't purchase on my own. I recieved this product from influenster in exchange for a review.
I received this serum...
I received this serum as a complimentary gift from influensters. I am ok with this product not too crazy about it. I gave it a couple of weeks of use to see if my opinion of it will change. I like that it is fragrance free and also that it is in liquid form, however, it does not spread enough with just one application. I have to use 3 applications( the pump) to cover my face and neck. It feels very hydrating but it definitely feels like it wouldn't last me over 6 months. I have not seen a difference with my other products enough to give it 5 stars.
Got this product from...
Got this product from Influenster to test. The formula of this product is very thin with a milky color and consistency. It comes in a nice plastic bottle with a dropper so its easy to get the amount you want and not go overboard. I have personally never tried a retinol before this one so I have nothing to compare this to but i like the consistency, it has no smell, and it sinks into the skin completely and doesnt leave it feeling oily or like there is a film on the skin. I will continue to use the product.
The high points with...
The high points with this serum are there is no scent, it's not sticky or tacky and it absorbs into my skin.
I don't think I've had it long enough to say how well it works or what results I have noticed. However, I have noticed since using it my skin appears less red. As far as fine lines, it's just too soon to tell.
The cons for me would be the dropper. I've not had one that the product seems to get stuck in like this one does. Also, if dimethecone is an issue for you, this probably won't work for you.
To start: I have...
To start: I have never used retinol before, and anti-aging is not necessarily a key skin concern for me (all the women in my family have youthful skin well into their 60s+)
I know that retinols require a slow introduction period, but this one says that its safe for daily use. I didnt want to push it tho so I have only used this once a week since I received it. That being said, there was zero irritation on my skin, but effects of retinol dont usually show up until at least 30 days, so I cant say whether this product has been life changing or not yet.
I liked the initial...
I liked the initial 1st application. It seemed like a somewhat overnight clearing of redness (but that could have also been the other products Ive been using for sometime now) and the fact that it was fragrance free was a plus. However, over the next few applications, I didnt see those same results like I had with the first. I have a Sunday Riley retinol that I use and always see a difference in the morning. I tried to give this an honest try and used this a few tries before writing this, it it doesnt seem like its doing much for me :/
Its hard to give...
Its hard to give a review when I only get a month to try a skincare product. But Ive been using it for about 2 weeks and havent seen noticeable change. I have oily skin and large pores around my nose. Ive been using higher end serums but replaced them with the Olay Retinol nigh serum for the trial tie expires and havent seen a difference in my skin. I guess this is a good thing because It didnt mess up my established routine. Application is easy. Serum feels nice on the skin. No fragrance was a plus!
Excited to receive a...
Excited to receive a retinol product as it usually does great for my skin. The formula is fragrance free which is awesome. It comes packaged in a a dark purple container which is great so it doesnt compromise the product with any light. It also has dropper to dispense the product. The consistency is a nice light milky texture. Blends beautifully on the skin and dries a soft matte. It does not remain sticky which is good. I havent found that this retinol irritates me (they dont disclose the percentage). My skin felt supple and hydrated after applying it. I am 34 and am starting to see the beginning of fine lines, its too early to tell if the product has made any difference with that. I will continue using the product and I would recommend. I received this product free from Influenster for reviewing purposes.
I got this free...
I got this free from Influenster- in exchange for feedback. I’ve been using this over a week now, and I haven’t seen any changes in my skin. Maybe it just hasn’t been enough time. It’s fragrance free, and glides on smoothly. Also says to use on face and neck. My skin does feel softer when I first apply the serum, and my hands do too. But then everything is back to normal. My skin can be a little finicky at times, but this didn’t irritate it or anything. I don’t think I’ll be buying this once my free product runs out.
