Physicians Formula Butter Believe It! Eyeshadow Palette 3-stars Reviews
This used to be
This used to be one of my favorite bronzers, I have repurchased it at least three times; however, there are a few cons that have prevented me from continuing to repurchase it. First off, the packaging is very bulky and always breaks. I feel like the sponge applicator is quite useless and therefore wasteful. In addition, the clear plastic part always breaks. You can pop it back in but it doesn't make for the best user experience. The product itself used to be amazing. I loved the tone and it provided a nice satin finish without being glittery. I'm not sure if they have reformulated it, but my latest product was significantly more powdery and had a lot of kick up, an issue I did not have before.
Okay
Bought this bronzer hoping it's be nice for daily use as an affordable option. The smell is nice, definitely heavily scented with tropical sunscreen tones. The pigment is light, but buildable and creamy. There is a shimmer to it. I overall think it is okay for the price point and lasting power, but it makes such a mess! One swipe with a brush has soooo much fall out. Avoid wearing anything light while applying and I feel like I need to close my eyes. Not sure if I would repurchase since it had so much fall out and tend to avoid heavily fragrant products given sensitive skin.
I love the Butter
I love the Butter Bronzer from Physicians Formula so I had to try a blush. I've used this blush for 4 years but as you can see in the photo, it really doesn't look like it. I have a love hate relationship with this product. I love how it is impossible to overdo since it's so soft and lightly pigmented. However, that is also a con that you have to layer to even see it on light skin. Product lasts forever it seems but I think I'm done with it now. Maybe other shades are better than this one, but I would rather use my other blushes.
Great length!
I was just about out of my current mascara so I was excited to try out a different product! The packaging is cute and the name is slightly misleading as you almost expect a little sparkle in the product. The wand comes out and it is fairly clumped up with product so you have to remove some of it otherwise my lashes became clumpy. This was a little inconvenient but after doing it a couple times my brush actually became useable and did a good job of evenly applying product. My lashes looked great after that and the product lengthened my lashes very nicely.
Brush issues
I love the way this mascara looks when it is applied correctly- however I seemed to have a lot of inconsistencies with how much comes out on my wand. The first few uses, every thing seemed to be going great. However, I soon saw that way too much mascara was coming out on the wand (I'm talking wayyyyyy too much!). I couldn't seem to get it to come off, so the wand was completely full and made my lashes end up looking clunky.
When the wand wants to cooperate, I love the way the shape of the wand is. It seems to be maximizing the application process so each swipe gets the lashes longer and fuller.
OG Butter Bronzer is Better
I was excited to try this because I love the OG butter bronzer and I figured this one would be just as good as the original but with a matte finish. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It's not necessarily bad but it's not a good smell. The shade of this is not really that good for my skin tone either. I usually buy the shade Bronzer in the original formula and it's a really nice shade for me. This stuff is almost too orangey toned for me. It's also very podwery/chalky which makes it really hard to blend out and it ends up looking splotchy and muddy. It does however look really nice on the eyelid as a transition shade.
OG Butter Bronzer is Better
So I have PF's original butter bronzer and I love it! I definitely was expecting this to be like the butter bronzer but in a matte option. This seems very different to me. First, there's the smell. It's not the nice coconutty smell that the butter bronzer. Kind of floral? It's not bad, but it's not as good as the OG butter bronzer. I don't think the staying power is as good either. It also looks a little splotchy/muddy compared to their original butter bronzer which goes on so smooth and evenly. Granted, I didn't put this on with a full face of makeup because I'm not wearing much makeup anymore, so maybe it looks better over foundation? Either way it looks like it almost collects in every. pore. Not cute.
Smells Good...Goes on clumpy
I used the Butter Blowout Mascara several times and I'm still on the fence of whether or not I like it. First impression...the bottle is beautiful and the product smells like the beach - coconut and islandy. I wish it went on smoother. My very first application was very clumpy. It reminded me of when I am using mascara and realize it's time for a new bottle...where it's dry and clumpy...except this was on my FIRST application. After I comb through the clumps, it looks nice...but I shouldn't have to do that right away like that. I probably won't buy this again.
Some good, some bad
Packaging: Yes, it's plastic, but looks almost like a pretty little porcelein container. It's always good to see something pretty waiting in the morning.
Appearance and "holding": It's a beautiful matte black and comes on in a very definitive line.
but:
The brush was not even or smooth. There was a fiber that jutted out the whole way up and the tip had several little bits that stuck out.
The line can be very definitive, but I couldn't seem to layer it with the taupe I usually pencil into the edge to soften the line at my lashes.
It's a little rough on my eyes, so, lots of good stuff, but problems, too.
Good but not great
I am typically pretty pale unless it's summertime but I always like to use bronzer to add a little bit of a glow. I've been trying to find the perfect bronzer for year round and have yet to find it. Unfortunately, I don't think this is "the one" either. I really liked the scent but it is pretty strong and summery smelling. I'm not sure I would want to wear this in the winter. I did like the matte color since I'm not a fan of having a highlighter/sheen year round but the color itself had an orange tint to it. I am currently reviewing this after a snowstorm in the midwest so it's not a great look for me right now but I will keep it around to try in the summer!
I wouldn't buy this product again and again...
First off, I may not be the best with makeup- applying it or even wearing it, but have been experimenting with some brands lately as I really love the look of bronzers. Above all the raves, the curb appeal, packaging, the yummy smell of the product & the look it has color- wise is definitely a pro! But it doesn't blend well at all, only has a few Colors to choose from & it made my olive skin tone look orange with the first swipe of it across my skin:( I enjoy bronzers that are packaged with highlights & contouring as a go to - all in one makeup pallet. So this was a waste of $$$ for me :(
It's alright
I've been hearing YouTubers rave about this stuff for ages and yet I'd never tried it. I'm not a big fan of bronzer in general because I just think it looks so bad so often. But, being winter, I was feeling pretty pale and when I saw it was part of a bonus points promotion I thought I'd give it a try once I saw this light shade. I have to say, this is pretty forgiving. It gives just a hint of color when your foundation is too light or you just want a little color. This is way more natural looking on lighter skin tones than some of the deep, dark colors that can look too heavy handed on light skin really easily. If you buy foundation in the medium range or darker, you won't like this because it's pretty light. But if you're fair skinned, not trying to look like you've spent a week in St Tropez, and you just want a little warmth and depth in your face, I'd recommend this. I just wish it didn't smell so sickeningly sweet.
Plum Rose
I have used the Physicians Formula bronzer before and loved it. I really wanted to love this blush, but unfortunately for me the color plum rose didn't really show up on my skin. To give you an idea of my skin tone, I wear ELF flawless finish foundation in beige and I wear Milani concealer and foundation in nude. The formula is amazing, I love the smell of this product and I thought it went on very nicely. If you have light/medium skin the plum rose most likely won't show up on you. Try a different color.
I would only buy this product if you don't have dandruff
Overall, I love the smell of this bronzer and enjoyed the texture when putting it on my skin. It worked so well with my foundation and I definitely recommend this to most of you guys. But if you have combination/oily skin and prone to fungal acne (dandruff) it will caused so much pimples and blackheads. I mean a lot of pimples. This isn't fungal acne approved and have too many fungal causing ingredients. If you don't have any problem with dandruff on your head go for this product. I'm just looking out for my fungal acne prone girls out there. Don't even think of purchasing it. It broke my skin barrier and gave me more than 50 pimples on my side cheeks
BROKE ME OUT
Okay, im going to be honest about it but I LOVE THIS BRONZER. it's so pigmenetd and the smell!!! it smells sooo soo good like omg! At first, when i applied it it looks kind of orange but it was an okay shade if that makes sense. ALso i have combination skin leading more to oily. This stayed well but at the end of the day I had these pimple with white stuff on top (cystic acne?) I've never seen these on my face before until I used this. So I stopped using it and about a week later it was going down and so i knew it was this product. i really liked it but i couldn't stop using it because I LOVE IT but i had to throw it away T_T. < < ik im stupid. But overall if you have acne prone skin i reccomond not to use this product
Okay so my previous...
Okay so my previous blush was seriously irritating my sensative skin, so I knew I needed something with better ingredients! I picked this up because so far I've liked their products. It's a beautiful blush, they have a good color range and I already have fairly pink cheeks so I didn't want something bright. I picked their lightest blush a little added color. It's sooo buttery and blendable, it feels amazing to touch! Super smooth. However I can't get over the smell. I didn't notice the added ingredient of perfume(which hello, haven't y'all realized perfume is not necessary to add!!!!) and its nasty. It's a super tropical coconut smell.. One that reminds me on sunscreen. I am not in love. At all. A gorgeous blush and the smell ruins it for me! If coconut/Pina colada scent is for you then this is definitely a must! But it's not a light scent either, it's super overwhelming! 5 star blush, 3 stars because of the smell.
This product is...
This product is probably the most overhyped bronzer that I've seen on YouTube. It does smell ok but not as great as people are hyping it up to be. The color that I have is "Deep Bronzer" and it's not as dark as it could be. I wish they made more shades of this but Physician's Formula is known for not being very inclusive. The finish is not shimmery which I like it is very subtle but I do have to build it up a lot because it doesn't match me that well. I would reccomend it if you are on the lighter side if you're medium deep or dark I would go for something else. I probably wouldn't purchase again mainly because of the shade. The applicator it comes with is also a joke just throw it out. The mirror is pretty good though.
Nice But Wouldn't Buy Again
I purchased both the Natural Glow and the Plum Rose shades. Both are very creamy and "buttery" as it claims, but they aren't as great as I was hoping they would be. I didn't realize Natural Glow had shimmer in it, but it does. Having an oily skin type, I don't usually like shimmery blushes, so I used it mostly as a very natural highlight on my no-makeup makeup days. However, it wore off very quickly, so I don't really know how else to use it. The Plum Rose shade is one of those "boring" blush shades that will work with any look, but it doesn't really have even a pink or peach tint to it, it could almost work as a contour shade for someone super super fair. The packaging is slightly smaller than the butter bronzer, but still as bulky, so that also kind of deters me from using it. Overall, I like it, but they're not great, and I will probably give them to family if I don't use them enough.
I got this bronzer...
I got this bronzer because of all the hype it gets for being the best drugstore bronzer. While it is "drugstore" it is definitely on the higher end of the drugstore products. I got the light shade because I have a pretty fair complexion. I find that even though it doesn't look orange in the pan, it can pull a sort of orange-y tone on my skin. Not ideal. I have to be really careful with the application and I have found that if I apply something more cool toned underneath it can balance out the color. I don't love a harsh bronzer look anyway so I use this pretty sparingly. I wish it was more compact packaging wise though.
I really wanted to...
I really wanted to like this after hearing so much hype about it. I chose the color "sunkissed bronzer" which I thought would be the perfect shade for my already pretty tanned face, but it makes me look so orange! It is super creamy, but does sometimes leave patches which I've never had another bronzer by this brand do. It also makes my face shiny & glowy which is great, but not in the summer when you are already oily. Overall, it didn't work for me but it seems a lot of people love this product.
