Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30 2-stars Reviews
Not actually SPF 30?
I use the other Physician's Formula mineral powder that features an SPF of 16, so I was excited to try this product because the Ulta app said it is SPF 30. Now that I have picked up my purchase neither the paper packaging nor the plastic packaging of the product says anything about SPF 30. It does contain zinc oxide, but it is one of the last ingredients and is not described as an active ingredient. The Ulta app shows the product as containing SPF 30, but the product itself does not. Also the translucent shade is cery much pigmented.
It's a mess
First of all, translucent is actually ivory. Secondly, it smears and cakes very badly. I've tried with and without a primer and it doesn't matter. It's easy to over apply so I'll have to blot off excess. The only redeeming quality is the sunscreen which is why I bought it in the first place. Kind of the worst
Not great for Sensitive Skin
I bought this and was sort of pleased with how it worked, especially for summer when I didn't want to wear a lot of make up. You need to do a certain amount of blending or it ends up looking cakey. It has decent coverage for a powder but a weird almost oily texture to it. Sadly my skin did not agree with it - I've had good luck with other PF powders and wear them all the time, and this caused an awful breakout even though it was designed for "extra sensitive or breakout prone skin". Since I had been using up another powder and expected good things from this one, I didn't open it until after the return date had passed. If you have finicky skin and you buy this, try it immediately after you buy it for a few days so you can send it back to where you bought it, since it might not be for you.
Formula changed and not for the best
I had gotten this powder in the past, and it worked great (the darker shade and creamy formula).
Ordered the same again, but it's definitely not the same formula.
It's not as white and powdery as the translucent one (stay away from that one if you don't dig the Morticia Adams vibe), but it is NOT as creamy or covering as it used to be either.
Super disappointing! I will not be buying it again.
Don't buy if you have large pores/ oily skin
I've never encountered a product so bad that makes me wanna write a review just to warn people lol. It has SPF, but for some strange reason, even though it's a powder, it's super cakey and tacky. Made my pore look huge and it just floats on top of the facial oil secreted during the day. My face look gross with huge immediately after applying. It's really not for thicker layer application.
Stay away if you have a tan to deep complexion
This powder isn't bad when it comes to setting but I can't imagine that it is translucent on anyone who doesn't have a fair to light skin tone. I am tan/dark (370 in Fenty) and this powder makes me look like I poured a light layer of flour or baking powder on my face. It also doesn't blend well (I'm using my fluffy EcoTools powder brush). I bought it to touch up my SPF throughout the day but I can only wear it if I add a tinted powder on top to bring back some warmth and life to my skin -- not ideal. I wish that Physician's Formula's products were more inclusive.
Changed:(
I had been a LONG time user of this product. I was using this since it was released to about a year ago. It was truly HG status. Minus the horrible, horrible shade range for all foundations by this company...PF y'all had something great. I have tried so many different brands - pressed or loose powders - from high-end to indie comapnies. The changes made this product unsuable. Such a shame!
One day use and won't...
One day use and won't buy again. Physician's Formula has failed me once again. This powder does give you an airbrush look however the color is not accurate. "Translucent" is not translucent at all, it has a more yellow undertone ending in what looks like a bronze. If you are ivory or a tone darker from fair or porcelain it may work for you, but for my pink undertone, white skin whose version of a bronze is looking like a lobster, it does not work at all. It also irritated a small breakout zone that was healing and gave me a new one on my temple. That said, once the product set in it melted into the skin beautifully and gave a nice satin glow to the skin. Very powdery though so if you use a brush it will get everywhere!
Not for me
I thought this would work as a finishing powder and for touch ups. I think that the formula may work well for some. I was attracted to the fact that it was talc free and had spf 30. I thought that it would be an added layer of sunscreen I could use to touch up during the summer. Unfortunately this product has a sheen to it that made me look metallic and overly shiny and greasy even though it felt drying on my skin. It also felt really heavy. I am not a powder person in general, and using this made me remember why.
Says 'translucent' but goes on orange
I have very fair skin and thought this would be perfect as it is described as translucent, but when applied it goes on very orange. I definitely do not recommend this fair people with fair skin and pink undertones. It also does not go on easy with the brush provided or with a powder brush. It didn't cover my foundation well. The only pro is that it is talc-free.
too much for oily skin.
I bought this in Creamy Natural, since I've had luck with that shade before (not always though) and I got lucky this time because it matched my fair, light, cool skin tone (one star). I could really tell a difference in my skin during application; no joke, it really IS like you're airbrushing away fine lines and acne scars and any skin discolorations (the other star). My skin appeared very smooth and evenly-toned. However, it is simply too oily for my skin. I thought it might settle down during the day, but it never did. I wear the Mineral Correcting Powder as a primer and that usually helps cut down on any shine or oiliness, but in this case it was like this powder just never set. It's hard to think of powder as being too 'oily', but in this particular case that is exactly what it is; too oily. If you have oily/acne-prone skin like I do, it's better to probably give this powder a pass. I imagine it would work well for ladies with drier skin, though. Luckily, I saved my receipt.
Smells Weird
I like how the powder goes on and how it looks and all, but the smell is just awful. I am too embarrassed to wear it because I don't want anyone to get too close to me and possibly get a whiff of the terrible smell it emits. I am surprised because I've never had this problem with any of their products before.
LOVE the product HATE the colors!
I will start saying I was searching for something less expensive than Smashbox Halo. I love this compact! It's not the same as my Halo but it covers great and looks really natural. I bought Translucent and it is too dark. I wish they had more color options available. I recommend as long as you don't have a fair complextion like me.
Translucent Shade Too Yellow & Too Dark
I was so excited to see this product in a pressed form since I have loved the loose powder version. However, I was highly disappointed to see that Translucent Light wasn't available, as it is for the loose version. I figured how much of a difference can there be?"........well, the translucent is not only a lot darker, its also much more yellow. I gave it 2 stars for effort but PF needs to remember that not everyone has a medium tone or a yellow undertone...one size does NOT fit all!"
Hard not to get it to cake
I got this compact b/c I have oily skin and I wanted some powder to 1. control some of the oil on the go 2. add a little extra sun protection. I personally had a very hard time getting this to work using the brush that was included or powder puffs. I did somewhat manage to apply it with a powder brush but the finish did not look good. Kept trying to get it to work for 2 weeks, it just didn't work for me, although some other people have better luck with it.
Would Not Re-Purchase
I really wanted to like this product, but it settled into EVERY pore and line I have, some lines I didn't even know I had. It was awful. From a distance my face did look airbrushed, but up close it looked so cakey. I am returning to get a more high end product, because for the price, this is not worth it.
One is not like the Other
I had a buy one get one free coupon so I decided I would buy a beige for summer and then I would have a lighter shade for Fall. I was so in love with the beige- it left my skin glowing and smooth. Then I tried what turned out to be "translucent" shade and was so sad. it doesn't apply or leave the same finish. in fact it left my skin chalky and uneven. I don't know how two shades of the same product can be so different, but they are so I recommend the beige since it is not too dark and skip the translucent.
Gorgeous finish, no shine control
I applied this translucent powder with a powder brush to set three different foundations and experienced similar results. The airbrushed finish is gorgeous for maybe an hour and then it just turns too shiny- even on my dry skin. It did not set the concealer under my eyes and just settled in all the lines. I am a PF fan and wanted this to work for me, but I will not be buying again.
