Redken Color Extend Shampoo

I was a little hesitant to use this shampoo after seeing all the reviews about it drying out people's hair and having it fall out. However, I colored my hair red and wanted it to last, and after talking to an employee in store I decided to give it a shot.

Unfortunately, all of my concerns came true. this dried my hair out horribly, my hair has never felt worse. Definitely increased the amount breakage/shedding I had, and worse of all, it didn't help keep the color in my hair AT ALL!

My hair is on the finer side, so made that's the problem? Not sure. But I will not be repurchasing.

It's worth it..here's why.

My hair type is very long, thick, and dry. I've had my hair colored for over 8 years, and have used heat tools on my hair at least twice a week since then. I noticed that the drugstore shampoos I have tried never really did anything for my hair, so I thought I would try a higher quality product. I first tried Olaplex, which left my hair in a worse state than I started. Feeling hopeless, and out of shampoo, I picked up a travel size of Redken color last just to give it a try. Turned out that this shampoo has improved my hair on every level. It's softer, shinier, and holds curls better too! It is so great for people who have dry ends but oily roots. Only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is that it can be easy to overdo it, but as long as you use a little bit you will reap many benefits. No regrets!!

MADE MY HAIR FALL OUT!

I thought I was going through menopause as my hair was falling off in large amounts. I even went to the doctor because of this. I have videos showing how bad it was which the picture is a snapshot of. My scalp was also itchy. My bottle finally ran out and I started using a new shampoo. Low and behold, the loss of my hair went back to a low normal amount. I never thought my shampoo was doing this to me. How are they allowed to sell this? I would say I lost about 1/5 of my hair. I used to love redken allsoft shampoo so i thought it was a good brand but I will never buy Redken again.

Terrible :-(

I've never gotten a product that I truly disliked so much that I felt the need to leave a review, but the time has come. I am not sure how the rating is over 4 stars when all the reviews I read have less than 3…. Everyone was right, leaves my hair super greasy. And that's coming from someone that can get away without washing their hair for a week at times without it looking dirty, my scalp simply doesn't get oily. Until now!! I even tried to only use the conditioner on my ends, so it has to be the shampoo. Save ur money! I love redken so I'm super disappointed :-( hope it's not too late to exchange

Great Color Saver, Not As Great with Other Aspects

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars. It doesn't really deserve 4 stars, but it doesn't deserve 3 stars, either.

Let's start with the pros: it does what it is supposed to do; it helps to preserve your hair that's been colored. I typically do a lot of color at home because my hair grows so fast, I have to do my roots every 2 weeks. There was a noticeable difference in how well the color lasted on the gray roots with one brand of color. I has to use a different brand in an emergency during the testing, and it didn't fare as well.

The shampoo lathered well, and my hair felt clean. The scent isn't strong. It's a little odd, but not bothersome. I'll note that I'm extremely sensitive to scents, so don't be put off by that. If you have issues with scents, you might want to check it.

The disappointing part was I felt like I had to sacrifice hydration and breakage for the color wear to be extended. Yes, my hair felt clean after shampooing, but it also felt stripped. I expected a better overall feel from Redken. I've been using their products forever, and freaky wanted to LOVE this product.

If your priority is extending the life of the color on your hair, this shampoo will help, no doubt.

really extends hair Color

Redken Color Extend Shampoo & Conditioner for Color Treated Hair really extends the color in my hair. I dyed my hair about 9 weeks ago and normally it would ready to dye it again , but since I started using the redken color extend shampoo and conditioner, I have noticed that my hair color is still in tack and I can wait a couple of more weeks before dying it again. i love the way this is moisturizing and leaves my hair feeling silky and smooth. This has cranberry oil incorporated in it's formula and I love how it provides a light moisturizing result. I love this shampoo and conditioner combo for my color treated hair and I highly recommend it !

Very Clean Feeling

This shampoo left my hair super clean...squeaky clean. It removed every bit of residue from air pollutants and styling products. It left my hair (which is fine but thick) very bouncy. I wash my hair every 3-4 days so this shampoo is good to remove greasiness. I rotate this with Redken Extreme Shampoo because this shampoo feels like it would be drying if used continuously. But I would absolutely recommend it intermittently and I love the smell. The photo is of my hair just after shampooing and drying but no styling or other product in my hair.

What a big improvement!

I swear I heard a whispered thank you from my hair after I used the Redken Color Extend Shampoo Seriously, my hair was very dry coming out of winter and it needed help. This shampoo has an amazing fragrance and it leaves my hair soft and lustrous. It blows out easily and my color stays fresh and looks revitalized. It is expensive to get the color done professionally so I do whatever I need to extend the color too! Just in time because I am spending more time live with customers at work so now I feel more confident about my beautiful, soft and lustrous hair.

Blondie Color WOW

I was so excited to receive Redken Color Extend Shampoo for Color Treated Hair to try for free for my honest review: I have blonde highlights that are a pain to maintain so I've tried many "color treated" shampoos to keep the brassiness out of my blonde, but was so excited to just get this in.

After my first shampoo I noticed the very rich color white in fact a small amount goes a long way and the lather is amazing! The smell is great not too overwhelming either. Ive tried many other products but Redken is always amazing you can brush through without tangles after! I would definitely recommend and buy this again! Thanks #buzzagent #redken

Not what I expected

Okay so I had really high hopes for this as it was recommended by my hair stylist. So I used it twice in the hopes that I'd like it better the second time. Initially it made my scalp hurt and I'm not usually sensitive to shampoos, secondly I absolutely hated the smell, obviously we all like things that smell nice but artificial scents aren't good for our hair so that being said I could settle for something that was neutral but this just smells bad. I did pair it with the matching conditioner. So normally I don't really notice any grease in my hair till day three when it starts but with this it was extremely greasy on day two which was bad enough but when I brushed my hair the amount of hair I shed from my head was disturbing. There is absolutely nothing that would make me recommend this specific shampoo.
