Expired product?!

I absolutely love these body creams. I buy them for the texture and scent. I recently purchased this scent off the app for a store pick up and the brand new product smells expired and old. There's absolutely no scent besides a soft chemical smell. Highly disappointed :( I looked up the batch number and as someone else commented, it was already close to two years old. How is the body shop shipping out old product? I got one that was made in 2021. It has a 12 month expiration date on the bottom.

Hemp Body Butter

I thought I was getting Body Butter, but that is not what this is. It's very heavy, almost impossible to rub in. The only way to use it is right after showering on wet skin, and then it's not bad. But I wish The Body Shop would bring back the original Body Butter, I loved that. Also this scent is not like the original either.

This product does the job

I live in Phoenix where the average humidity level is 7%, but you could be in Minnesota during the winter and have the same problem: dryness. My legs were showing white flakes shortly after using a regular lotion on them, but with this hemp product, there are no white flakes - there is only smooth skin. I've been using it for years and will continue to do so.

Side-by-side Comparison

Dec 2022 Update:

Recently, TBS has reformulated and repackaged their entire line of body butters. There wasn't much fanfare about Hemp, so I assumed it was unchanged. However, in looking at the ingredient lists, there are some subtle differences (eg, cocoa butter is no longer the 3rd ingredient after water and shea butter). However, in a side-by-side comparison of texture, scent and performance, any difference in the newer formula is entirely imperceptible. Hemp body butter remains a top-notch product for severely dry skin, and I like the musky-patchouli fragrance.

Original Review (Feb 2019):

I tend to use fragrance-free body lotions and creams, and sometimes I have trouble finding products rich enough to provide extreme long-lasting hydration / protection. Almost all the dermatologist-recommended drug store options contain mineral oil or petrolatum which protect skin, but don't do much for nourishment and repair. TBS Hemp Body Butter fits my very dry skin needs by using plant oils and butters instead.

Different body butters at TBS have varying ingredient profiles--Hemp Body Butter uses hemp oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and babassu oil as the main emollients. The product is very thick and somewhat hard at room temperature, which is an indication of the high shea / cocoa butter content. When warmed as it is applied, it becomes easier to spread, and soaks in quickly to a non-greasy finish. Hydration and protection lasts a full 24-48 hours, which is phenomenal.

As a patchouli and musk loving perfumista, I greatly appreciate the fragrance profile of Hemp Body Butter. Of all the body butters I've tried at both TBS and Bath and Body Works, this is my favorite scent. Those who dislike patchouli may want to try other alternatives at TBS, as there are equally emollient options with different scent profiles (TBS Olive Body Butter, for example). This is a definite repurchase for me!

Hemp Body Butter

The hemp moisturizer is heavy duty, as described on the label. I have very dry skin, but this guards me from dry itchy skin! I really like the light patchouli scent also. Now if you would only bring back the hemp hand wash...

Good stuff

Fell in love with the hemp lip balm and wanted to try the body butter. Love how moisturizing and emollient this butter is but it has a super "earthy" smell that I'm honestly not just crazy about at all. Will prob only use it on hands and feet rather than all over my body because of the scent. But it really moisturizes well!

Fantastic product

Best cream for extra dry skin. I have been buying it for many years now. Decades actually. My husband and I both use it and think it is great, better than any others we have tried.

Please do not change the formulation of this body butter!

Great body butter

I love this body butter it goes on great and really moisturizes well. The only wish I have is that I wish it didn't smell quite so "earthy". I like more floral scents. But the scent isn't strong and doesn't last long.

Change in product

As noticed by other reviewers this product has changed. It is now produced in Poland where the previous product was produced in Germany. There is a definite change in fragrance (for the worse), change in color and change in consistency. I prefer the product made in Germany and would appreciate the company bringing it back. This new product works as well as the other but I would rather have a better smelling product that works.

For the KP girlies

I don't write reviews but I had to leave a review for anyone struggling with KP. Nothing has agreed with my strawberry legs, or even moisturize my dry legs in general. I've tried a million and one products and this is the best I've found so far.

Here is my skin routine:

In the shower I wash my legs with dove moisture soap. Then I use the ouai body and hair scrub (wouldn't recommend for hair though). It's expensive but worth it. It's such a difference compared to the cheap stuff like tree hut. If you're going to shave, please use a clean razor with shaving cream. I don't shave all the time but. After I'm out of the shower I'll dry my legs, but not all the way, this is important. You want to apply the body butter with damp legs, it helps your skin absorb it like a sponge. I thennnn top it all off with a body oil to seal in the good stuff. I just use baby oil :)

Hopefully this will help someone < 3
