I NEED the old Shea Body Butter Back!!

I have been using Shea Body Butter years and years and am so disappointed I am no longer able to buy the quality product I love. I have given it as gifts for years as well and have spread the love of Body Shop Body Butter to so many others. Please, please bring back the real stuff!!!

Are You Really Listening?

I bought this Shea butter after hatng my first purcahs eof it and being hihgly upset that it changed to this clunky, hard to absorb formula. So I decided to mix it with my 3rd favorite product, the Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil. Though it took a while, I was finally able to create a somewhat smoother shea butter with a mixer -- Yes, it took a mixer to make that happen. If I were to use this product again, it would be mandatory to mix with the Polynesian Monoi Radiance Oil because without it, the shea is clunky mess and hard to absorb in the skin even immediately after a bath. Further, who wants to make that much effort to ready a product for use? Has your product development team really taken in all the reviews that mimic this opinion of the new shea formula. It's not a butter at all so I am intentionally using the term FORMULA. I propose The Body Shop seriously consider offering both shea formulas for us - a large percentatge of your customer base who have expressed very legitimate reasons why we want the old shea; even as a temporary option would suffice so we could purchase in bulk. I would love to hear real feedback from your team beyond the canned FAQ response, "we've heard your thougfhts" which is not a response at all. I look forward to hearing real feedback from The Body Shop.

Change is bad

The new "vegan" formula is untruthful. The previous version was vegan. The new formula is too thick and not smooth. When you try to rub in it, it clumps in your hands. Change for the sake of change is always a bad idea. Return to the old formula. I will no longer recommend this product.

Don't like new formula!

I have been using this body butter for 15+ years and am so sad you changed it. It is no longer creamy, and it feels less moisturizing. It still smells good, but I am now looking for a new body butter. Please return to your original formula. I will come back!!

Reformulation is detrimental to the product

The shea body butter has been the #1 best body butter that I have ever tried, I am a repeat customer. I understand that it was reformulated and I'm sure your intentions were well founded but the quality of the product has noticeably declined. The fragrance, consistency, and moisturizing benefits are not what they were, There is a noticeable difference. I hope that you will take this review into consideration and perhaps give your customers the option of choosing their preference.

New version not as good as the old one

I have loved and used the Shea Body Butter for many years because of my very dry skin EXCEPT for this year. The new shea formula is not as smooth, has little lumps when you put it on, and doesn't seem to last any longer than the original version. I am disappointed in the changes that have been made, and sincerely hope that The Body Shop considers providing the original version of this product as an option again. If they do, I would give it 5 stars without hesitation. Also, who really cares if a product is made to last "96 hours" -- most people take a shower way before then anyway. I tried another Body Shop body butter product and the texture was again an issue, but with that product (Kindness & Pears) the texture was too slimy, and the skin softness didn't last as long as with the Shea, even though supposedly it also is a "96 hour" product. It's too bad that this company has changed a superior product into a mediocre one all in the name of progress...

The old product was WAY better

The new formula is horrible. The lotion is basically a solid. While it does leave my skin moisturized I am not at all happy with how difficult it is to smooth on and how much product it takes each day. The old formula lasted much longer and had a much better smell and consistency. I bought these on sale but I will be looking for a new lotion due to the change.

New formula, not so great product

The formula has changed and this will be my last time buying what was an all time favorite for me. It's no longer smooth, creamy and easily blended into my skin; it now leaves my skin feeling dry.

This new formula is disappointing!

I've used the Shea Body Butter on my hands every night before bed for years and haven't had any dry skin issues, no matter how many dishes I washed, or how many times I washed my hands. But the new Body Butter isn't as thick, it doesn't smell quite as nice, and I regularly have a grainy dryness to my hands now in the morning. I would like to be able to buy more of the original formula. The current Butter is no better than any other lotion.

Disappointed

I have been using Shea Body Butter for years. The new one is hard to even spread on my skin. The consistency is lumpy. So sad.

New formula feels like putting on Crisco

I LOVED the prior Shea Body Butter and would buy 4-6 tubs at a time. I have been using this for over a decade and even got my husband to start using it. It "cured" the cracks in his finger tips during the winter, and he had tried multiple products. I just finished a tub and opened one with this new packaging. Wow, what a fail!

New packaging design is a given periodically. Both containers state 200 ml; previous formula 6.75 oz (192 g), new formula 6.4 oz (184 g) so my first thought it was more whipped with air. I wish. I would even understand that charging a little more for a little less product with inflation and supply chain issues.

Previous product is smooth and creamy, non-greasy, spreads evenly and smoothly. New product feels somewhat gritty, greasy, clumpy and does not spread and absorb into skin evenly. Pieces break off and fall to floor while using, which never happened with previous formula. Another posted that wax is in the new formula (Oryza Sativa Bran Wax) which I also saw on the ingredient list. It feels like applying Crisco shortening.

I appreciate that Body Shop supports women in 3rd world countries, so I was happy to purchase from Body Shop over many years, and often gave Body Shop Butter as gifts.

Are there any body butter formulas that haven't changed? I don't tolerate perfumed products. The natural Shea butter was PERFECT before. Unfortunately since I try to buy in bulk, I have 4 jars of this "new" stuff and wonder if I can return it. I will definitely be shopping for something else now. No way I want to spend this much on waxy grease.

PLEASE bring back the previous formulation of Shea Body Butter, PLEASE!!!

Another discrepancy

Let me start out by saying that I've been using this product for over 10 years. After noticing all the negative reviews, I looked at the smaller size Shea Body Butter. In the description is says "buy our bigger 6.7 oz tub" or something of that nature. If you click the link it brings you to the newer updated packaging / product. Funny thing though - it's only 6.4 oz. and NOT 6.7 oz. It's also more money. $22 vs. $21. I get inflation but come on, more money, less product and it seems like a worse / different product. I'll be shopping somewhere else.

So disappointed in the new scent

While it still feels good, the new scent is too perfumes. I have used this for 20+ years, but won't be purchasing again. Don't change what works.

Not as good as the previous Shea

I have been using the shea body butter for over 12 years. I loved it for its subtle, but elegant fragrance and how it made my skin feel soft, and have a glow. Sadly, I got this new shea butter thinking that the packaging had just changed, but to my disappointment so had the actual product overall. It does not have the nice fragrance I've grown to love and want from this product, and it leaves my skin feeling sticky and dry as opposed to hydrated and glowing. Now I feel dissatisfied and disappointed because which other body butter should I be using? I've used this product since I was a teenager and I've never looked back. I really dislike most of the product changes that have come about recently with some of the nicest products. Unfortunately I do not recommend this product especially to people who have used the previous shea body butter. Oh, and it's consistency is super clumpy too.
