I recently purchased this Gel Tula Primer after enjoying so so many of Tula's products! I LOVE Tula, I use many of their products in my regular rotation. This gel primer is definitely not one of them, why is the jar not even half way full of product? And if this is how the primer comes why wouldn't they use a smaller jar? Its 1.4 oz of product, and it looks more like a mini size worth of product in a full size jar. I've purchased minis and full sizes of the 24 hr moisturizer, so is it just the gel? Its a ton of air, don't get me wrong, Tula rocks and I've never been so confused, I don't even want to waste any more of it, definitely returning! It's too bad. Since it may even be a fantastic primer, but no way is this delivery system acceptable. Especially since it costs about 33$ or so. I just can't with this one. Sorry Tula, I can't recommend this one.
Works well but I'm still deciding about it.
The product brightens, minimizes pores and makes skin smooth. I gave it less stars b/c the container says it's 1.41 oz but is half full. The consistency of the product is interesting, it scoops out, but almost needs to warm up when applying but doesn't pill/clump. I might take some getting used to this one a little longer but overall felt like it does what it says.
Great for dry skin
I have dry skin and freckles, so my skin goals are always hydration and smoothing/tone evening. I don't like to use full coverage foundation or anything even remotely cakey. This primer achieves all of my goals — it's very cooling, which is nice, it evens my skin tone and locks in my AM skincare hydration, and it makes my light coverage foundation go on and stay even better, especially when using a blender sponge. I used to use smash box photo finish primer and prefer this one — you can tell the difference between a primer made by a makeup company versus a skincare company. My skin feels amazing and my makeup lasts!
Packaging is terrible
Great product in the worst packaging. Everyone knows jars are 1) totally unsanitary; 2) allows air in to dry out product; 3) allows air in causing product to quickly deteriorate and go rancid. My skin has changed and I am searching for a new primer. Make up artist used it to prime my skin before applying foundation. I liked the product. Purchased everything he used on it skin, but purchased the Tula primer knowing I would never buy this product again because of the packaging.
Best primer ever!!
I'm 50 years old and I have used so many different primers but this one beats them all - hands down!! Other primers are slightly drying on my skin but this one is just perfect on my skin, with just the right amount of moisturizing silky goodness. And it does an amazing job of keeping my makeup in place ALL DAY.
Bright, Smooth, and Sensitive Skin Friendly!
The looked beautiful on my skin. It smooths out my texture yet still made my skin appear brighter, and I definitely noticed a difference with the longevity of my makeup. It so far has worked great with all my foundations and complexion products. It has a light lemon citrus scent. I will definitely be repurchasing.
WOW, this is the best primer I've ever used.
I never used a primer like this before. It leaves my skin smooth and my pores perfectly blurred. After letting it "soak" in for a few minutes, it gets just enough of a tacky feeling (IMO) that it helps my foundation last longer. Personally, I would highly recommend purchasing this with MAC's Fix+ spray. The pair together keeps my makeup lasting through sweat, blow dryers and way too many hairspray clouds.

I started Tula products by ordering the Essentials kit. I was so impressed I now have started adding many other products. The Smoothing Primer Gel goes on easily with no residue. It leaves my skin feeling cool and soft. It helps your foundation go on easily and reduces the amount of foundation used. I am very pleased with this product as well as all Tula Skincare products.
AMAZING
Okay so I now use tula for my whole skin routine starting with the milk cleanser and this is one of my favorite products from them (tied with their glow sunscreen) I first started using Tula's other primer (the blur one that they just made in different skin tones) and I liked that except the tint was too much for me. The primer gel was perfect. My make up actually sticks to it very well and I've noticed significant improvement in my dark spots, which I believe is because this product has SO MUCH vitamin C in it (great for healing). Sometimes I will use the blur primer first and put the primer gel on top because the blur primer has a more glowy look to it, but for everyday wear I only use the gel primer and I've never had an issue with make up staying. Plus the cooling feeling it gives you is so relaxing. Would give 10 stars if I could.
Funny smell but lasts all day
I put this on after a lightweight moisturizing routine. It has a bit of a peppery smell, nothing unpleasant. It is very thick but once you rub it in your hands it softens up and applies very easily. It helps to prevent pilling, my foundation (the Fenty Eaze drop) usually is a little slippery when I only use my Mac prep and prime spray but this primer had my foundation gripping really well! It gave me a very skin-like finish as opposed to the greasy look I had before. The primer is not moisturizing but it's not drying either. If you're looking for something that will not clog your pores, help your foundation stick and give you a real skin-like finish, this is the one.
